Huskies are working dogs and they NEED to work... or work out. I had friends who had two, and they joined sled pull programs every year - not as a contest but to keep their dogs in shape and happy. The dogs LOVED it when they got to pull something, it just buoyed their spirits.
BTW, this was in coastal California, no snow, they pulled sleds on wheels
No matter how adorable a dog is as a puppy, it's important to get a breed that works with YOUR home life and life style, rather than to try the other way around (try to get an active personality breed to fit into a less active home). If your place is small or you don't have a lot of time to exercise them multiple times daily, it's better to have a dog with a slower paced personality - it's not so much a question of the size of the dog as much as it is the nature of the breed.
