No matter how adorable a dog is as a puppy, it's important to get a breed that works with YOUR home life and life style, rather than to try the other way around (try to get an active personality breed to fit into a less active home). If your place is small or you don't have a lot of time to exercise them multiple times daily, it's better to have a dog with a slower paced personality - it's not so much a question of the size of the dog as much as it is the nature of the breed.

I've had my cat Brownie since I was in college. She's been with me for about 14 years now. She's my first child. My husband has Angel. A stray that adopted years ago. Last Christmas I came home from work and there was a cat in our drive way that looked just like the cat I had adopted with Brownie. Her name was Persephone but Persephone went missing Years ago. She was a beautiful cat and extremely friendly. She would let the neighbor hood kids pick her up nd carry her around. The cat in our driveway decided to adopt us. We named him Luna. It was a year before we figured out he was a boy. All 3 of the cats have their own unique personalties. Luna is young and active and likes to jump on the old ladies and harass them.

Good point. My makeup area is in the living room so there's no way I could keep the cat out of the room. Keeping it out of the bedroom would be feasible I guess, but there's no space for my makeup furniture in the bedroom.Gotta watch out or cats'll sleep on your makeup and shed hair all over it...
My general reluctance to take responsibility for a living creature aside, the shedding issue's been one of the biggest reasons for my catless status so far. Whenever my friend left her two cats at my place the furry little devils spent most of their time on the kitchen counter and it was covered in hair. I can deal with a bit of cat hair but not when it's on the kitchen counter I can't.
I mean, a hairy kitchen counter is bad. Hairy makeup is what nightmares are made of.

Hopefully someone found him. He was the type to rub up on anyone he met with a friendly purr. We looked around our neighborhood for weeks and put up flyers around the neighborhood and local shops, Craigslist posts, an even posts on Facebook. It was hard for us coming to terms with never seeing him again.

Very true, but many people say that it's a Maine Coon thing. Maitai even has a subtle M because she has some tabby relative somewhere.

My condolences to Pemily, OctoberViolet, Yazmin, Ernie and anyone who has lost a fur baby. And to all who have posted pictures, you made this thread lovely. And I repeat my opinion, kittehs need never apologize for thread jacking b/c they are always on topic. Hmmmm, many of us make up hoarders have a bit of crazy cat lady in us, coincidence much?
