I already have all 3 of the Skinfinish Mineralize ones from last year, and then a backup of Whisper of Guilt, plus 1 each of the Veronica and Betty ones. But I really really love their highlighters! Plus I can use them for eyeshadows if they don't work as highlighter/bronzer on me.
Pearlmattes, Mineralize Skinfinishes, and Extra Dimensional Skinfinishes are all quite different from each other in texture, finish, and use. Naturally, how and where one can wear them depends on one's skin color and the color and finish of any particular powder.
-- Pearlmattes - tend to be rather hard and dry, tend not to deliver high color payoff (and are not meant to), have sheen but no glitter, and are meant to be worn on much of the face as a finishing powder. Depending on their finish - how much sheen they have - and the skin color and tone of the user, they may be better used as a highlighter, but they tend to be more subtle than MSFs and EDSFs.
-- MSFs - generally have noticeable soft texture (a few even feel a bit chunky or crumbly), are highly colored, and have more shimmer and some are even glittery. I find i cannot wear most of them anywhere other than my cheeks - either as blush, highlighter, or contour - although those that are more neutral, such as
Lightscapade, i can wear on more areas of my face. Few MSFs are what i would consider subtle.
-- EDSFs - have a very very very smooth texture with something of a gel-like base, are not glittery but rather metallic, and are not subtle, but not necessarily highly colored. If used with a light hand EDSFs can highlight cheeks, brow bones, and some other places on the face, although i wouldn't use them as a finishing powder all over my face because of their metallic sheen.
Also, in my experience i need a different brush for each type of powder.
-- Pearlmattes - because they're hard and dry and without strong color payoff, i use a dense brush to pick up more powder and dust it on more places.
-- MSFs - since they are more powdery or crumbly and deliver a lot of color payoff, i prefer my MAC 188 small stippling brush (others may use the larger 187), so i don't pick up too much powder and so i can control exactly how much i get on my face - i don't want too much, because of the high color and shimmer/glitter.
-- With EDSFs, because of their very fine gel-like texture, can be a bit tricky to pick up, so i prefer my MAC 130 brush, which is duo-fibre like the 188 and 187 but denser, so i can get more powder up, but still control where and how much i get on my face.
How many of each kind of powder i want to buy depends on how i am using each and how often i will wear them. How safe they are on the eyes is variable: erine1881 said EDSFs are not eye-safe; Pearlmattes won't deliver much on the eyes...
