Curious what you mean by this. They have VIB and BI clearly advertised, no?I guess this scenario of lying vs incompetence is helping me not care anymore. I was already thisclose to giving up on sephora (until they improve their rewards program or stop pretending theres two different tiers). Positive note: one more ariel mirror for someone else to enjoy

Yeah, I was kinda being snotty. There's barely a difference in benefits between BI and VIB. Even the 'exclusive' online codes give about the same value of samples- just different brands or samples that end up available to BI later. Being able to purchase some items earlier than others is meh when its rarely and at most a week. Chic week was weird, where they made a big deal that VIBs got one day early discount. If anyone reaches 1000pts (omg) they get a 20% discount once and it uses up those 1000 points. Thats a $1000 customer. Since chic week, the VIB emails have just been about different "exclusive" samples with purchase. Sephora customers are drowning in samples (with purchase) lol. I guess its lamer to me personally cause I'm Korean and brands just stuff you with deluxe sample kits in nice containers, even if you don't buy anything. Especially, I should say. There's a ginormous thread in beautytalk where they ask how to improve the rewards program. They admit theyre in the baby stage and to expect a lot more perks. But for now, we have all these diff memberships and I'm going wherever the incentive is better. Which has not been sephora in a while :/ (except Bite Beauty cause its exclusive to sephora and I love BB)

Yes I used to try to spend at Sephora to get points, but I've backed off in the last year spreading out my purchases to a couple of other places in favor of their rewards or discounts. And I'm also drowning in samples - particularly ones not suited for WOC.
I wish they would tailor them more.

VIBs do get higher discounts though. The discounts at the end of the year definitely favor VIBs. I had over 1000 points for a while, and wasn't offered a 20% discount so that's really surprising to hear since I am a VIB. I don't think it would be worth that many points, but at least it's something.

I do agree with this, I don't feel that there's much difference between Beauty Insiders and VIBs. When I became a VIB I was like yay perks! Then I realized it's not that different from regular Beauty Insiders. I'm not trying to be greedy or bratty, but it kind if takes away the "exclusivity" and specialness that they claim VIB has when we get a sale and then it's available to everyone the next week. An extra week of a sale isn't really a thing to me, because I'm not one of those people who drops $800 on a 10% off sale. 50% off maybe! Lol if I need something, I'll pick it up, and if not I won't, sale or no sale. I do like the gift packets that we sometimes get like once I got a Make Up Forever bag wo needing to use points just bc it was a VIB inclusion that week. It came w an eyeliner, a Smokey Lash, a finishing powder, and a Lab Shine gloss and was in a nice plastic make up bag that I pack nail polishes in when I travel. That was great! I'd love more things like that, but they don't happen too often

Totally with the WOC point. Every brand needs to try harder there :/. I hoarded the perfume samples for some reason and just recently sent all 52 to my best friend as an intro to perfume. Lol finally became useful. It seems like everyone kicked sephoras butt in sale promos this summer. I keep hearing Ultas revamped membership is awesome now. I'll look into that. And wait for brands to have f&f or holiday sales.

That's another thing. Communication is spotty. And its something but its kinda still a purchase, 1000 points dollar for dollar for a discount we could wait biannually for. I haven't spent points cause all I keep thinking is, is that worth $500pts? I just never find one I like enough. And yeah the holiday perks are sweeeeet. I've actually been planning to wait til the holiday sale to use my 'shopping list'.
Oooh man, I got into it with people on beautytalk about that (ill never understand. A huge corp doesnt need someone being personally offended for them and defending their brand. Especially when it was a thread sephora started to hear us out). We're not being greedy. They started the reward program and its just fact that their competitors are outshining them there. It's annoying that they don't at least take one of those successful programs and model theirs after it. What I mean is, they're not reinventing the wheel. Can't keep that innovative big sister brand image if they celebrate their 15th anniversary with a make up pouch (with purchase). One beautytalker told me I should be grateful to get anything O_O. Its a business. They WANT to hear our complaints. And none of its free, its in exchange for our loyal literal money. Honestly, the foil samples are like they're giving me something to throw away for them. Times that by millions. Its a waste.

Apparently I have a lot of feelings about this lololol. I just REALLY hated ppl calling me greedy and immature when I was talking bout business models. We're consumers not their friends. I don't understand that strong brand loyalty.

I've thought about it a lot too over the years, I think for me I feel things are lacking because they make the point to make the distinction between VIBs and Beauty Insiders. When they have those separate areas, you expect them to be different, which for me means more than a few extra days of a sale lol. I'm not sure what they should really do to change things, but I feel that as things are there's really not much that makes VIB as special as they seem to promote that it is

BI and VIB's status really suck if you don't live in the Toronto area to take advantage of it as all the online code are not available to Canadian customers and you can all take advantage of the promo's in store. In the 6 years I've been a BI it's only once been able to take advantage of the in store discount once. lol

I love the free shipping all the time for VIBs suggestion, I hate paying shipping and it discourages me from buying only a few things (would rather spend the 50$ to get the free shipping) which I get is part of their plan, but usually makes me just order from NordstromThis was the thread I was talking about. 22 pages. That's crazy! I didn't know sephora x wasn't launched at other stores! My local sephora has had the display since like December or something, I can't quite remember but I've already bought quite a few. I missed the palette but really want the mirror. Ill probably miss that release too lol

ya the Sephora at the big mall around here has had them, but not at the other mall. There was a couple I liked , but I didn't want to start on another brand of nail polish! {see the np thread!! lol)
There was only one I really wanted to get, Psycho ( silver glitter).
I think Ariel will come up after the summer sale they have going on. idk tho!! I didn't want the palette, just the quad and the mirrorx2 ( 1 for me, 1 for mom ). If you check specktra everyday, you will not miss it =) especially if u were successful during that riri drama, you will get it. We all will! =)
