Agreed. Right now I would only barely qualify for the suggested 1 year / 500 minimum, but I feel like I'm pretty invested in the site. Again as I'm not in the US the launch section would be of little to no interest to me anyway, but even if I were I would still be uncomfortable with a fee, and anything more than $10 would be an automatic no.

I think $25 would be ok. Honestly. It would be worth it to get the old Specktra vibe back. Hell as much as we pay for makeup, that is a drop in the bucket.
I'm sorry but there isn't a website on earth that is worth that kind of money, I don't care if Jesus himself was posting. A lot of us aren't swimming in money, so any kind of fee would be ridiculous.

I wish people came for reviews and how to wear items. Like what goes with X on X skin tone. There is so little of that now and that is why I came here. Now it is busy busy for launches then dead.
THIS is why I'm here. I joined up yesterday after YEARS of lurking around Specktra, especially the MAC boards. I figured I'm always here trying to get some swatches or see how something looks on NC45 skin, so maybe I should create an account so that I can also contribute to those swatches.

I was reading through yesterday & saw the alphas, but figured I just wasn't in the know. When I came back this morning (still huntin' them swatches, y'all! lol!), a sweet lady had offered to have people PM her to get the scoop, so I figured I'd take her up on the offer.

Now I feel crappy knowing that someone might think I just joined to find out what the code was or to jump on y'alls coattails as a reseller.

My HUSBAND probably wishes I was a reseller since he also doesn't understand why I need ALL THE BACKUPS, but I'm just here for me! Hahaha!

Anyway. I guess I'll just try to stay active, participate where I can, and get to know you fun ladies!

I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure others can relate as they had similar experiences. I stopped posting reviews, color stories or provide swatches (I'm talking about the early ones 2 - 3 weeks before the official release) as I got burnt by bloggers or other forums that blatantly stole my pics or copied my review without my consent. About a year ago, it got to the point where it was extremely frustrating to see that the info (including the little bugs I inserted) I posted on Spectra was floating around on other blogs, thus I decided to stop posting any information on new collections. I'm certain that this is the reason why others also stopped posting or at least don't post as much any more. It seems to be a common problem, but there is no solution.
I was wondering what happened to your blog. Karla Sugar too, she used to be the queen of swatches, but hasn't updated her blog in months. Did she ever say why she decided to stop posting/updating/swatching?

Hi guys,

I have been lurking Specktra for a long long time and only recently made an account. I do not have a blog, I don't come here to steal content and I am definitely not an ebay seller....I come here only to get information about upcoming collections because I love makeup and am addicted to MAC
blink.gif
... I also come here to look at swatches so that I kind of know what to order on launch dates.

I do not post much because:
a) Most of the time, I have absolutely nothing useful to say :p
b) The fact that most of you all know each other and have been here for years + all the posts about making stuff private is kind of intimidating...

I would also like to mention that the few times I have posted some simple questions, no one has ever answered me or acknowledged the fact that I asked a question...

Finally, as a *not so frequent Specktra visitor*, I can assure you that there are other ways of finding out when a collection launches online and people who really want to know will definitely find a different way of getting their information...

I went up to my local MAC counter a few days ago to check out the Divine Night goodies. The MUA there told me about an event they're having for the collection launch, and insisted I schedule an appointment sooo I did. The thing is, I've never gone to a MAC event like this before, and I don't know what to expect! Could someone please explain them to me?
Oh! Thanks for the reminder. I need to make my appointment... and recruit a friend to come with me. She's afraid of makeup though, she only wears Studio Fix Powder, and as much as I try to get her to experiment, she refuses. Maybe she'll come with me.

I'd rather pay than have to make 500 posts. Between school and looking for a job, I can't just comment on Specktra all day long and I'm not really that talkative which explains my 200 posts in 7 months.
I agree cocotears! I don't know how others do it but after working a 9-5 and coming home to a dog, kids and a husband ain't nobody got time fo' that. I'd rather pay. All the fun of this site is suddenly going away for me. I am not a "lurker" and don't buy more than 1 item/backups as I usually can't afford that so I am not a "reseller" or "evilbayer". It seems that this site has it's senior members but I will never be one even though I share the same love but I am not much of a talker/poster and not enuff time. Today is my day off so that explains this. Also I asked about a collection a few days ago but got no reponse. Now I realise what happened. I must've came off as a "beautymarker". It's quite understandable. i don't need makeup info if it's going to be a mission to get it. On the otherhand, I will continue to posts when I can and share my thoughts even if I get nothing from it because I make it my business everynight after work to catch up on these threads. So as long as I can write when I feel like it, bring on the codes.

I have been out here almost seven years, longer than most and I don't have 1,000 post.  Increasing the post count, okay, I have no problem with that but, I don't care for the pay to play idea. Lock the thread down if need be but charging just seems like a little much.
I agree. It seems a bit unfair to people who have been members for a while and have several hundreds or thousands of posts and share swatches, info and advice on a regular basis. Those members invested a lot of time here, and that's what the requirement should be about - it shouldn't be about paying money.
Ditto. I'm an active member and I love specktra but I'm not swimming money and if I'd have to pay let's say $25 a year I'm outta here.

False. Please don't say no one has EVER answered you or acknowledged you. I just went back and saw someone answered your question about if whether or not one of the MAC shadows was a dupe for a UD shadow. Then you asked a question in the Temperature Rising thread. I didn't look through the rest of that thread for answers because truthfully, you asked a question on page 82 or so and the thread went well into 200+ pages. For all I know, your answer could be on page 90. Big collections=big threads. The thing is, most times peoples questions are answered but people asks questions and then leave without sticking around for the answer or even bother looking for them when they return.

And I agree that it's not hard to find info. But you also have to remember that there are some that are too lazy to look for it and just want it handed to them on a platter.

IDK for concert tickets I pay $25-40 a year for advance buying info and access to forums. I would see it as a MAC fan club. Exclusive site info stuff. It would protect the people that give us early info and swatches and keep out the leeches.

Yup sometimes that happens, although I don't think it is done on purpose ! Although. Often times the person that asked the question DOESNT READ back through the thread and can miss the answer..... IT GOES BOTH WAYS

$25 is a lipstick and a couple loads of laundry to me or quite a few groceries! So unless I win the lottery I just can't. MAC launches the same time in Can/US at the same time 99% of the time. So I assume no one will be saying anything about that. I stayed up all night for Marilyn playing jigsaw puzzles. I guess I'll go back to that.
