How A Clinton-Era Rule Rewrite Made Subprime Crisis Inevitable

By TERRY JONES
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Wednesday, September 24, 2008 4:30 PM PT

One of the most frequently asked questions about the subprime market meltdown and housing crisis is: How did the government get so deeply involved in the housing market?

The answer is: President Clinton wanted it that way.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, even into the early 1990s, weren't the juggernauts they'd later be.

Even if we accept all you right as fact that does not explain how the rest of the financial institutions fell foul of the sub prime market does it?

I'd venture a one word answer: GREED!

a) I didn't write it.
b) Stupidity is a more accurate summation.
c) If anyone thus far in this thread sounds narrowminded, bigoted, and short sighted, it's not Kimmy.

Just Asking???

Don't you ladies think this is getting a bit too personal and has just simply gone on too long? It's obvious everyone has their own personal opinions. I honestly don't think people are intentionally being racist or bigots on either side...We all have to understand that emails, typed scripts, etc...or up to readers interpretation. A person may not necessarily mean things exactly the way they are interpreted by the reader.

I think we all believe in what we are saying and there is no way we will be swayed by what other people think or feel at this point I am just hoping people could just agree to disagree without feeling they are being attacked or insulted for voicing their opinions on any topic.

I'm pretty positive that almost everyone knows who they are voting for at this point for their own personal reasons and that is their own choice. Whether it be a good or bad choice... it theirs to make.

I know I probably should have just not said anything..but as my dh always says to me when I ask him should I just not say anything, " Baby, when you stop being the peacemaker, you stop being you."

Have a good evening ladies...and remember our words & actions can become habits.

You think that I think or liken you to a villian, even a verbal villian or accuse you of some sort of all out verbal assault on a message board of all places? You can say/write/type whatever plethra of words you like (in this language and another if you so choose), as will I.

I'm unsure as to whether you meant to write "see" or "say,"
but either way...
the wink icon seems to dispute what you have written.

Perhaps you meant your comment to sound humorous?
If you meant it as humor,
I don't think everybody would find it to be funny.

(English translation below the Spanish)

Si Ud. quiere aparecer chistosa, perdoname,
pero yo no te encuentro chistosa de ninguna manera buena.)

(If you want to be funny, forgive me, but I do not find you funny in any way that's "good.")

Oh...Today, while I was going about my Day, (a Gift, every Day of Life)
smiles.gif

I remembered something you wrote in an earlier post....You wrote something to the tune of one of "them" is "arresting" ("arrested" ?) every hour for a crime (other than being in the country without the proper documents, you noted.)

(translation below)
Si quieres decir que la gente es "arresting," entonces,
estas diciendo que
la gente es bien bella....
smiles.gif

(If you wish to say that the people are "arresting," then it sounds as if you're telling the world how strikingly beautiful the people are.)

Later, you posted that you are aware that an illegal immigrant is booked for a serious crime every *Day*. I will spell it out: you contradict yourself.

***Disclaimer (from my "high horse",
as you so eloquently described my stance):

Even though I am a writer, I commit errors in grammar, spelling, and syntax very often. When a person feels passionate, he or she will commit such errors in writing (as both you and I do.)

Quote:
ps. i still don't see what the big deal is about using "they" and "them" to refer to a group of people.

How sad.

There is a difference between arresting a criminal and formally booking one. The police may have enough probable cause to arrest someone, but when all is said and done, there may not be enough to hold that person over and book for a crime.

i just don't see why it "depends on the person saying it." words are words, they mean the same thing no matter whose mouth (or writing hand) they come from, in my opinion.

and tish, i think you've got a good point. i'll agree to disagree and leave it at that for now.

No all words do not mean(or convey) the same depending on who is saying them (or writing them)...not just IMO but through experience as well.

Okay, I am putting politics aside here for a moment.

If you hate Palin for her views, fine. I am in no way shape or form asking you to vote for her party. That's up to you.

I am not talking about that. I am going to discuss a particular topic.

SNL went too far with the clip on incest. Palin made a comment about it, but the media slammed her on it. "It's just humor." This clip has in it too "incest and rape" comment. It's so slight. It's rather subliminal.

SNL even made an insinuation of the state of Alaska to incest. Is this confirmed? Is Alaska the incest & rape capital of the United States or does this indeed happen in States like Alaska? What? How is Alaska any different than any other State in that regard?

Incest goes on in every State of the Union and in every culture from the rich to the poor around this World. Who are the primary targets of incest and rape? Who are statistically the pedophiles and rapists? It's not women.

Why am I going here? They did.

Women in general should be outraged by this, but I have not seen any evidence of it. So, they are allowing SNL or any other person or persons to say whatever they want about this woman or in a broader sense women (females). What they don't realize is she is one of us. What you allow to happen to her; you are allowing this to happen to you as a woman in other places. It's okay for you to be smeared in anyway possible. I do mean ANY way possible.

Women are still oppressed all over the world with sex slavery, lack of equal pay, etc. These comments are made by a man in this video and they were made by men in the SNL comments that failed horribly to be funny. The audience didn't find it funny at all.

Even if the accusations were true, her children would be suffering from these attacks too. Who cares? Right! It's just children. Right! Children mean nothing. She is just woman. She means nothing. Right! It's just an election. Who cares? Right! What is that really saying?.

Am I going too far? No. These are the messages and responses by the public by their silence.

She is us. Whether you have children or not, it doesn't matter. Are you female? We will all pay the price in the long run.

What happens to one will affect another. This isn't going down in isolation. It is setting up a pattern for us all.

Even if I were a man and/or father, I think this is absolutely an outrage. How low do you have to demean men that do not part take in such incomprehensible acts with children/adults?

That subtle comment carries a tremendous amount of weight no matter what context it is placed.

BTW- Thanks to the poster that put this up. I was not aware of this video.

^ It shows you the true character of people when they target sexual assault victims or children and adults with disabilities.

I never watch SNL...Just see the video recaps when they are posted here or somewhere on the internet.

Palin herself is on the show tomorrow night...I guess she isn't too upset about it.

She has gone on record stating her personal belief that abortion is not an option even in cases of incest and rape, hence the context of the quote in the clip.
That's her personal belief fine, if she starts appoint justices to the supreme court based on there concurrence with that belief very not fine!

She as stated on record, she does not support Roe v. Wade.
She and her views belong in the dark ages. Was the video demeaning to women? It would have been if she had not based large elements of her campaign on her Hockey Momness!!!
If anything she is setting women's rights back and she would like to set them back more!!!

I don't either, although earlier on, I *never* missed it... Now when I have any free time I am usually writing, reading, or on Specktra! I don't get much time to watch TV
(unless you count Sesame Street,Word World,
& (my personal favorite atm...Word Girl

I miss SNL...I always used to watch it
when I was babysitting for other people's children.

So difficult to know what she really thinks....or is it? No, I don't imagine she's too upset about all that's said about her. She appears to be very strong in her beliefs, which is respectable....but even though I have a child who has Trisomy 21, just like she does,
I simply cannot stomach her.

She is, after all, a person, a woman, a mother... so maybe she does feel "upset" about it... ?
If she doesn't feel *something*....she may be an alien life form ?

I think I've been watching too much Torchwood.
