when i say positive change.. i'm talking about matters of war and peace, torture, image, protection of civil liberties, transparency and things of that nature.

I can only hope.

but anyways i think you'll be surprised at the number of republicans obama appoints to his cabnet. forget the uber liberal claim cause thats false.

What do you think about the great number of republicans that endorsed Obama.

Who would you have liked to see on the republican ticket

Do people who vote Libertarian get themselves in hot water for not voting Republican? I really don't like the accusations that voting for another party could ruin it for Obama

It's your vote...you can vote for whomever you want...It's your choice....

I tell people that they are delusional if they think that me voting Libertarian means that I took a vote from McCain or Obama. If there hadn't been a third party option(s), I wouldn't have voted at all. I certainly wouldn't have cast a vote for either of those tickets.

People make the erroneous assumption all the time that all those Nader voters cost Gore the 2000 election. Many of them wouldn't have voted for Gore if they had to pick between Gore and Bush and it's a very arrogant assumption to believe otherwise without actually asking someone.

Not only does she fit my beliefs more, but also I hope that next election another party is getting some airplay. I find it really sad that people have to really hunt for the other parties.

I basically asked this because I not only get flack from random people, but I also have gotten it from friends who think I'm somehow helping the McCain campaign by not voting Obama. I was also curious, because I know Nader got a lot of flack in 2000, but I never heard about the Republicans getting on someone else's case for running. I imagine it happened, but I wasn't sure

This is something else I hate about this system. We should not let politicians campaign the way they do. The amount of money spent in these races is abhorrent. Two consistently corrupt parties shouldn't have the strangehold that they do.

I truly have no problems with McCain...My main concern was Palin...for my own personal reasons.

Yeah Mccain didnt get me in a tizzy so much as Palin. Mccain actually beat out the more conservative nominees which I was happy about.

But, the point is, for some the issues you highlighted are also wedge issues. War, general Constitutional issues, etc...are just as personal as the issue of taxes and 'moral issues'.

I do hope that Obama can see past his own party and choose persons for his cabinet that are best suited for that position. What concerns me most is having an entirely Democratic-run government. There would be no checks and balances. I certainly hope that Obama and the Dems will see their election as being the result of a country fed up, rather than necessarily falling in line with the core Democratic ideals. I hope that the Dems won't take advantage of having such a powerful position, because the very thing that killed the Republicans this time around could happen in four years.

McCain as the choice of the Republicans was fine with me. His choice of Palin bothered me, but hind-sight is 20/20. McCain got a lot of flack for not being close enough to the core ideals of the party, so he chose a VP candidate that was...and that choice clearly backfired. Looking at it now, Romney would've been a much better choice.

I personally loved Nader... and I would vote for him if I thought he'd have a snowball's chance in he** of winning, but I went for Obama, because he closely resembles my views, with just a few off. Technically, it doesn't hurt the GOP, because it's looked upon as either GOP or other party, unfortunately. But, it is your vote! Vote for whom you choose, for whatever reason, and no one elses!

I'll tell you what else bugs me. These people lose races and frequently WALK AWAY from the money they owe people who provided services for their campaigns. Only politicians can get away with that kind of theft.

So True...I was just listening to that today...Companies talking about how they are left holding the debt for enormous light bills, supplies etc...

And very, very frequently they are small businesses who can't easily absorb the loss of income.

Right...They should all be on a pay up front basis due to the history of the businesses being left holding the bill.

Ok so they're saying Obama has just been elected President. How can they say that when the west coast polls haven't even closed yet?
