Also I've been using the 239 and 217 fro two days and the silver lettering that has the MAC logo and the number has rubbed of allmost complitely, that's prolly because the lettering was just printed on the handl and not carved also. Just goes to show that the quality and the appearance of the genuine MAC brushes can also vary.

If you want to keep the lettering from rubbing off, clear finger nail polish.

You know, I did that to one brush, the 242 that had the number also carved, but after a month or so the nailpolish started to chip away and took all the silver paint away. So I ended up with the same result

Ebay sellerID: butterfly_dreams123

If it's any consolation I am in the same boat- different seller. I thought I was buying from Michelle in Canada but the brushes are being shipped from Shanghai and now, like you I find that the brush sets are likely to be fake. I stopped payment at one time but then realized that I need to actually receive the brushes to determine authenticity otherwise I just look like a non-paying bidder. I ordered some authentic brushes from the MAC website...no more Ebay for me.

I just got my 227 brush in from aat_03 on ebay, I thought why not give it one more try. With a safe seller and I already has a great reputation on this site, plus I had already purchase this brush from a Mac store in July. Well this brush is fake, fake, a good copy but fake. All my Mac brushes from Mac online and store letter in painted on, not imprinted in like this one and the actual brush part is a little longer and not as soft. Like the hairs are different, but I am just going to wash it and try it out. No more ebay seller for my Mac, back to the Mac online and stores.

The MAC brush set that I bought arrived on Saturday. I just had to laugh, they are so fake...no model numbers or country of origin printed on them at all and the face brushes are all fan shaped with very few hairs in them. It was a rolled leather pack with 24 brushes in it.
Low and behold the seller did a runner and is no longer registered on Ebay- non-verified on Paypal and not the person that listed the auction.
Chalk this one up to buyer stupidity and lack of research...

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

After reading all the posts, I got very worried, can any one verify whether this two brushes I got on Ebay is authentic, thanks a million! I usually owns MAC powder, never bought their brushes, this two are my first MAC brushes, thats why I am so unsure. They have a sticker at the side with bar code, however these two brushes seems to be MADE IN CHINA. The two brushes are 182 with gold handle & 183 in black.

Hopefully one of the experts will look at them for you, I just wanted to question the handle on the 182- I just got this brush from MAC store and mine has a black handle on it. I don't know though if they were produced with the gold handles too...just my humble observation. Hope yours are the real thing!

If you paid with credit, your credit card company may be able to cover your loss after you file a claim. I got scammed on ebay buying a brush set from a seller who had %100 positive feedback and supposedly lived in Canada which was actually China. After the sale, the seller was no longer registered on ebay and his contact information led me to some unknowing Canadians.

Paypal asked me to Fax them a letter from MAC, stating that the brushes are really fake.
Did you do that????

Thank God I searched here first. I was going to purchase either a MAC or NARS brush set, but I think I'll just collect individual items from the store instead...
