Chanel Fall 2011

Btw, has anyone tried L'Oreals version of the Armani ETK?
I just found them hard to work with to get the look I was after, and yes, they're pretty glittery. I prefer more of a 'sheen' or shimmer effect, but these were just a bit too OTT for me, but the colors were gorgeous!

I've been looking for those L'Oreal shadows - haven't seen them turn up yet. I'm hoping they do soon! I'm trying to make my Armani samples last - I only have 2 colors in the full-size jars, and 4 in sample jars.

Kanne - thanks I will try a fluffy brush! I will likely buy just one cream eyeshadow to try but I don't know which yet.

I have! I got the purple one, and can't see a difference between the L'Oreal and the Armani texturewise. The pots are a bit different obviously with the L'Oreal ones feeling not as HE as the Armani, but otherwise? The same. The L'Oreal colours are also flashier, they have a summer collection out right now over here (I saw them in my dm) with a lot of bold colours like a bright blue, bright green, yellow etc.

HTH!

On me Illusoire and Emerveille were not glittery at all...I must have applied more sheerly than most....but they are still too shimmery for my tastes. I really don't have much use for them.

Very exciting for Chanel Fall. The paint-pot types look great colours [especially the khaki!] which can also be used as a liner, also fantastic an applicator comes with them. Definatley the standout in this collection.

I wore Mirifique out for a date with hubby last night. I want people (read: SA's) to stop saying that these shadows don't crease. They do. We need to be honest about that. With a base, the creasing is minimal... without a base, the creasing is insane. They don't 'bond' to you like Armani ETK's do. They stand apart and never really become 'part' of your face. I wear Armani ETK's with no base... blend multiple colors together... and it wears all day.

That said, the Chanel shadow wore a lot better than I expected it to. It only creased in my crease but the lid area held. I used a powder as a base... my lids are very oily and powder sets my creams better than a regular base.

Most of the colors in this collection are glittery with the exception of three... the peach, the khaki color and the burgundy. The white and the black colors are the MOST glittery. And the glitter is transferable by touch. You touch it, you get glitter on whatever you touched it with. There's no fallout, but there is transfer.

I only bought Epatant of the shadows so far, but I am obsessed with it. I adore the taupe-y color,it looks silvery green sometimes and more taupe other times. It is not too glittery in my opinion and wears well on me (I do not have oily lids). I am on a make-up no buy until Aug 1 but you can bet that day will find me at the Chanel counter buying another shadow. Plus I want the Prelud quad.

I stopped at just the 2 Illusoire & Ebloui. I swatched the black one last weekend & it was very glittery & it stained my fingernail black :( I used mine over a MAC ccb & I think that it kind of absorbed the shimmer in a way.

Can't wait for the Holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad it's working for you Rinstar. I test the rest of the shadows against their Armani counterparts this week.

I promise to have the first comparison up by Friday. It's slow going... because I want to be totally fair. I know some folks think I'm coming down a little hard on Chanel (I've gotten a couple of emails) but I never want to rave about a thing if it's not truly rave-worthy. There are enough bloggers who do that already... and I think that they're doing a disservice to those who read their blogs.

[/quote] I don't understand the people who think you are coming down hard on Chanel. I think you're totally fair. I guess it might seem that way to someone who really loves a brand. I know I kinda turn my nose up if I read a bad review of a Mufe product, but you should be able to tell if the reviewer is sincere in expressing their experience with a product.

Folks get real protective of their favorite brands. I love Chanel, but I don't love everything that they do. I don't love everything that any brand does. Even Guerlain and By Terry (my faves) have managed to turn out some mediocre stuff.

^ I have not read all the pages or posts preceding this.. but I so agree with Ingenue. I do this for a living (not with existing marketed products but with products before they are marketed) and find that there are products from some DS lines which are as good as if not better than say, Chanel or MAC - MUFE.. etc.

I don'te ever buy the hype when products are released because I know what goes into the making of it and have usually tested some version of it before. In this business brand loyalty is key, but the brand must be able to always deliver consistently and innovatively.. otherwise they lose the momo. I for one have not bought many MAC products from the most recent collections, I also did not buy the cream es from Chanel -- I am now working on a liquid formula for release sometime next year -- the liquid stays on forever and is so buildable you can go from a totally translucent sheer look to full coverage. So when I say I don't love the Chanel es creams -- it's cause I know that there are other and better products coming down the road.

I am enjoying my ETK tho.. they are as good as can be gotten in the here and now.

I agree HerGreyness... Armani has cornered the market on the cream shadows right now. They blend better and last longer than any other brand.
