The other funny thing is, I just met his nephew that just started as an artist for MAC at my new local counter. I had a great personal meet & greet with him right after the opening. He's really great too. It's nice to glean ANY & EVERY bit of info I can from them.

Oh, how fun to have those pros at your disposal

Every time I get my makeup done, I am always asking what brush they use, application techniques, etc. So glad you can share all of the info and tips you get!

This collection is hitting the blogosphere hard! More pics and some swatches:

Makeup Magpie: Chanel Holiday 2010

The pixiwoo sisters didn't mention anything about their swatches being wet swatches, and their pictures looked amazingly pigmented. Hmmm... lots of different opinions AND swatches when it comes to this quad.

EDIT: Actually, I do really trust Sabrina's (from The Beauty Look Book) opinion, as I think she's a pretty discerning blogger when it comes to high-end reviews. So if she says "not to worry, the pigment and quality of the holiday eyeshadow quad is amazing", I'm not going to worry too much.

Couldn't agree more, I totally trust Sabrina's opinion.

I'm glad I resisted the SOHO quad, these colors are much better for me and I really want this quad! Shipping from NM can be kinda slow for me, so I'll be hoping to either get what I want from the holiday collection while the hubby and I are in Vegas or when we get back.

Honey&LemonGirl, thanks for that link. I'm glad Liberte is being sold here, I liked it from seeing swatches of it awhile back on here.

Someone on MUA this morning really blasted the quad as "not bronzey" and with fallout and glitter all over the place. The not bronzey could be due to store lighting, but the glitter still concerns me. I think I may have to make the trek to my counter after all. On the plus side, I am excited to hear about Liberte!

I haven't bought any Chanel in ages but what about the palettes? I know I used to get a Holiday palette with gloss and blush and such in it. Is Chanel not offering these anymore or just this year?

Also, can you tell me about the Liberte? What's the formula like? I think I will visit a few stores today and see if I can find the Holiday Collection. Thanks.

No, I haven't seen anything suggesting there will be a holiday palette with a variety of products like that in it. They have a color collection:

Sneak Peek: Chanel Holiday, color - The Next Best Thing To Going Shopping Yourself

and some sets:

Liberte is an extrait de gloss but so far it's been thought to be Asia-exclusive. That blogger apparently saw it at her Florida Saks. Here are the ones that are generally available in the US:

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss - The Next Best Thing To Going Shopping Yourself

If you read through this forum you'll see there are alot of fans of it here!

I have Tweed Rose and yes, the shimmer is an overspray. It comes off for the most part, though there is still a bit left in the crevices of the "tweed" texture. After a few uses, my Tweed Rose didn't go on shimmery.

I'm pretty disappointed with the pigmentation in my Soho quad so you may want to reconsider and get the Holiday one instead?

^^I was too mrslid, my experience was alot like Estelle's review on Karla's site (plus it didn't do anything for my coloring), but others including Sabrina and Amy from Cafe makeup have said the opposite. Now we're hearing different reports re pigmentation on the holiday quad. I wonder if there's some variation?

I like how the quad looks in that new pic - especially wet. I can get that same wet look when I layer it over Root ccb

but I'll try them wet. The glitter did not look all that bad in those pics - I have worse. I'll probably get the np at one of the stores - I loved her color description of it.

So Liberte is a Saks exclusive. great, my Saks is so far away

Can't reconsider, the Soho quad will be on its way soon!

I really don't know what is going on lately with the differing opinions on various Chanel quads?! I've read a few people mention that they disliked the Enigma quad, yet I have no issues at all with it. I have to use the pink shade wet, but that's because it's so close in tone to my own skin, but applied wet, it picks up the gold shimmer. I find the other three colours plenty pigmented.

Temptalia also said the Soho quad was really pigmented, which was ultimately what sold me on it!

As for the holiday quad, it is the baked version, so it's possible that some of the reviewers don't have as much experience with them. There is a tendency for the shimmer in the baked quads to create a lot of fall out, but for me, it's a small trade-off for the wear I get out of them. And the shimmer is beautiful once applied. They are meant to be buildable, so maybe that's why some people find them to be less pigmented?

So all in all, I guess it's a "your results may vary" type thing with these quads!!! I ended up choosing Soho over holiday because the holiday quad looks quite warm, and this past summer I had picked up the Plein Soliel quad, which isn't the same, but has a nice chocolate brown shade in it. Between that and my mystic eyes quad, I think I have enough similar colours to pass on the holiday quad.

Now Patchouli on the other hand, the more pics I see of that one, the more I want it!

Personally for me, it just depends on how intense I want the colours to appear. For work, I don't. I also don't try to minimize fall out, I just find it easier to use some good-ole' scotch tape to get rid of it once I'm done!!! I tell ya, it's a whole lot easier and quicker that way! And I always put my shadow on first.

I think this may well very be the case. And, a lot of it could be in the applications. I love the Enigma quad & I don't have any issues trying to get them to show up. Chanel does have a tendency to do paler shades like the SoHo quad, which I do wish they would add some med tones in there to mix it up a bit.

I was hoping for a good shot of Magnolia ls.

The girl on MUA who blasted the quad today loved & bought Magnolia. She said it was a super pretty true pink that goes well with insolence extrait de gloss...I thought that sounded very promising!

I feel like I'm typing in invisible ink. Can someone please share where the Chanel Holiday 2010 is now for sale? Are they only at specific counters... because NOTHING is online that I can find.

Thanks in advance.

I have posted in this thread that it's available at Neiman Marcus online. It doesn't show though. You have to select the drop down box for each item and the Holiday 2010 shade will be one of the available options even if it's not pictured. Happy shopping!!

I think it depends on what you have near you. I saw the sets on display at my local Chanel counter in Dillard's. I looked around and found this:

Neiman Marcus - Chanel

I'm sure it's online at other stores like Dillard's, Macy's, Saks, etc. Hope that helps!
