I'll be the first to admit that I had no idea the shimmer was an overspray. All of the testers that I've used had shimmer in them.

My counter had the collection out early so I had to treat myself to a little birthday present! I only got Empire RAL and Enivree RA but I will definitely be going back for the Highlighter, eyeshadow duo and maybe the polish and liquid eyeliner.

The highlighter really surprised me when I swatched it - soo pretty! But not as much as the duo, the ivory shade is just gorgeous! I seriously wanted to pick it up today but I really wanted to get my lip products first :)

Got my makeup done today and picked up my holiday stuff. Liked the look the MUA did for me, but unfortunately not using a sunscreen/primer = my makeup was pretty much gone in an hour and I was shine city.

It was nice when freshly done though. On my eyes she used Emerveille Illusion d'Ombre as a base, then used the Spices quad on top. In Love JC was used on my cheeks, and my lips was Cognac lip pencil + Plumetis RC + Paillettes glossimer. Wasn't too much of a fan of the lip look, I found it a bit too light in the sun and felt the colors kind of washed me out. LOL'd a little at the MUA insisting my Perfection Lumiere color was darker until she put it my color on me and was like "oh, you're right". >_> All was forgiven though when she let slip that in March there will be more Illusions d'Ombres: some matte, some shimmery!

Here's everything that came home with me today. Sorry for the crappy phone pic, I can't find the cord to my camera. Along with Enivree, Beige Lame, and Sparkle D'Or I got samples of Inimitable Intense Mascara, No.19 Poudre, Ultra Correction Lift skincare and Mousse Confort cleanser samples, a mini Spark glossimer, and a nice white makeup bag.

I love the white bag too! That's exciting news about the Illusions d'Ombres. Can't wait to see the colors. I'm happy to hear some won't be so sparkly too.

As am I, Winthrop! As much as I like the Illusions d'Ombres (I need to pick up Ebloui and Emerveille) I'm still a little leery of the sparkle factor. The Chanel MUA said some of the new ones will be even more sparkly, which makes me wonder how disco-ball shiny they'll be.

My friend just started buying Chanel and she got the same exact goodies. I am jealous because even though I am friends with a Chanel lady at Bloomingdales, I never got a bag out of the deal! Lucky, ladies. My friend even got a foundation brush. Now you know I'm mad!

I can't wait for my appointment with the MUA at my Chanel counter this Saturday, I'm really loving the highlighter. I haven't looked at the other items, so I'm excited to see what I will fall in love with, hopefully it'll be a nice experience and not rushed. It's my first m/u appointment with a MUA ever!

QueenofSnark - I want the white bag too! Sooo pretty! Since 2 years ago, my chanel counters stopped giving out such bags. I was told chanel stopped making them, by several different SAs/MAs. I got a few of them when I just started buying chanel and some of them are the same, but I never had this lovely white one. Enjoy your goodies! And the new illusion d'ombres sound very exciting!

HG - I use my highlighter a few times this week and the overspray is almost gone. I inspected the powder and it seems there is still very tiny bit of shimmer in the powder throughout. Maybe the powder is to be used as an all over powder, which the MA told me when I purchased it. She said the fairy powder is a highlighter for face and body.

I'd be mad too! Getting a free brush is crazy nice.

Have you tried it as an all over powder Miss QQ? I'd be curious to know how you like it that way. In the Holiday Looks on the Chanel web site they use the pressed highlighter just on the tops of cheekbones and in one look they use the fairy powder on neck and shoulders.

The way I think of highlighters is that how - or whether - they show up is completely dependent on individual undertones and lightness/darkness of the skin, and then it comes down to personal preferences. For me...I get a glow without any visible shimmer particles on my cheekbones with the holiday highlighter, and that's exactly what I'm looking for so I'm very happy with it.

^^ ITA, Gail - I haven't removed the 'overspray' yet, but the tester at the counter still had shimmer in it - not a ton, but enough to be considered a 'highlighter'. I got the Feerie powder too, but am considering returning it as I'm not sure how much I will use it.

Gorgeous blush, Elegant!! Wear it in good health - it is such a nice collector's item to have!! I can't believe they didn't send you any other freebies!!

QoS - GREAT haul! Glad you are loving Beige Lame - I'm still trying to get the hang of it, and am about to give up on it after several attempts to unlock the secret - I think it's just my eyelid color or something (even though I have tried it with different primers - both colored and not). I love that white bag too - maybe I'll get one tomorrow when I go to Nordie's to get my 'event' haul.....which includes Enivree, Empire, Sparkle D'Or and Brun Rose (is that the name of the blush?)....

Great news on the new shadows, too! Would love to see how the matte colors 'do'.......and I agree.....'more' shimmery is kinda scary. I love the ones I have, and like that you can sheer them down so that they're not glittery, but it's hard to imagine what more would look like - not something I would venture into........

^^ I have not because there is still some overspray. When all of it is gone I will try it as an all over powder. Yeah the MA told me the fairy powder is for face and body. I used the puff to put some of it on my arms and it was lovely, but the glitters are so big they brush/fall off easily. I think if you have to put it over some body moisturizer for it to stay put.

Haha...you will all probably think I'm nuts but I'm so shimmer particle averse (I think it bothers my rosacea anyway) that I completely brushed the overspray off immediately on arrival!
