I just bought a 23 piece brush set from Beautyonlines.com that is totally fake. When I wrote to tell them I want a refund, they said "I am sorry, these are real NARS brushes in a real leather case." I may not know NARS brushes all that well, but I do know leather. I think they are all fake. I'm contacting my credit card tomorrow to see how they handle it.

Do all the fake blushes have "NARS" imprinted on them? I mean has anyone come across fame Nars blush w/o the imprint?

^I haven't ever seen a fake NARS blush in real life (I only buy mine from www.NARS.com or Sephora) but some authentic blushes DO have the NARS imprint... the difference from the fakes (from the pics I have seen on here) is that the size of the imprint is MUCH bigger than the fakes. My Doceaur blush that came straight from NARS has the imprint in it- but it's much bigger. I can take pics sometime when I get a chance. HTH:)

^As far as I know, Douceur blush is the ONLY Nars blush to have the imprint on it. If your blush is not in the shade Douceur and has an imprint on it, it's fake.

Hi guys, can anyone clarify if the NARS bronzers are suppose to have sponges in them? Because I've just ordered from Kiss and Makeup and the Laguna bronzer that i got hasn't got a sponge in it, but the irresistiblement does. I'm now wondering if this is also due to a packaging change recently? because I also noticed that the names and the barcode of the laguna bronzer is printed on the box instead of having a stickers like the irresistiblement. Can someone help me with this. Much would be appreciated. Thanks! =)

My Casino bronzer did come with a sponge in it and so did my Heat pressed powder and those were bought straight from a NARS counter.

I was supposed to get a NARS Orgasm blush in a swap, but I'm pretty sure its fake. The packaging is rubbery and not soft like the NARS that I bought myself from Sephora. The color looks the same as the real deal, the texture is just different.

Oh and I keep meaning to add that in the Doceuer blush, the "NARS" imprint is really big! It's much different from the fakes where they have a tiny NARS imprint.

Douceur did have the NARS logo imprinted on it for the Fall 2010 Collection and the box for those will say "Douceur Limited Edition" on the sticker.

HOWEVER, Douceur is becoming a part of the permanent line and when it does come back in shipments, stores, etc it will no longer have the imprinted logo or the limited edition sticker!!!

Just so ya know :)

Hi ladies,

I need your help! Maybe it's my naivete but I never realized that there are fake NARS products out there (I've previously purchased my NARS products from brick and mortar stores). Anyhoo, I swapped for a NARS Violetta eyeshadow duo and received it in the mail today.

First thing I noticed was the weight (not referring to the amount of product, but the actual packaging itself)...it felt lighter than my other NARS products (granted I'm comparing the e/s duo to my blushes and eye shadow single)...upon further inspection there are some minor differences...small but enough to make me worry. Other differences include:
- The mirror does NOT bend as far back compared to my NARS blushes (I don't have another e/s duo to compare to)
- When I bend the mirror as far as the hinge will allow and rest it on the table, it isn't as stable compared to my NARS blush
- The corners of the Violetta e/s duo feel more rough/jagged compared to my NARS blush

That said, Violetta is an older colour, so am I just being paranoid and the differences can be attributed to packaging differences between old and new NARS products?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

It looks authentic to me. I've compared your pictures to one of my NARS blushes, an older NARS e/s duo, and a newer NARS e/s duo and this is what I've found:
- the mirrors on the blushes bend back further than any of my duos do (although the older duo bends back a little further than the newer one does)
- the print on the back sticker matches both of my e/s duos
- the newer e/s duo does not have the raised writing at the bottom of the back, but the older e/s duo does

I think you're in the clear. Hope that helps!

After hearing your response, I'm more relieved now...but I have just one last question before I can fully put my worries to rest...can you please help me (hmm...I think I have an OCD side to me that wasn't aware of before)? :) Does the compact for your e/s duo feel "lighter"? That was the main thing that surprised me when I received the package ...even the compact for my single e/s feels like it's sturdier than the e/s duo! I don't mean the weight of the actual product itself....but the "density" of the compact/packaging...I hope I'm making sense?

The rubberized exterior also feels different, but I suppose that could be caused by using products/agents to clean the compact. The clasp is ever so slightly different too, but my main cause for concern is the compact feels like its made of a lighter plastic or something...can you please confirm? Thank you~!

It looks good to me too. I have a bunch of NARS blushes (either from Sephora or NARS.com) and eyeshadows, palettes, and everything checks out with yours. It's normal to be paranoid about buying/swapping online though! I am too whenever I get something in the mail now, after being duped in the past (mostly by eBay sellers:( ) I think the easiest way to tell with counterfeit cosmetics (aside from really obvious packaging flaws) is that the quality is just horrid! Esp. with NARS since their products go on so smoothly and the pigmentation is very good. With the fake Smashbox I received off of eBay, the pigmentation was bad, color was off and the texture was HORRID when swatched on my hand (no way was I putting that near my face LOL). Comparing the swatch to my real one and it was a no-brainer!

I have bought Nars since they came out and none of my blush have the word Nars pressed into the blush or eyeshadows themselves. None of my blush has been bought from ebay.

Does anyone know if Nars produced a 9947 Angelika 9 color eye palette in 07? I think I might have been taken, but the shadows look more beautiful than I expected....embarrassingly I don't even remember bidding on this, but it says I did? The item was on ebay and the description said it was authentic and genuine. I am enlcosing the bad photo they had posted on ebay, it does not show the bright shimmer and the colors look totally different than the pics as I normally won't buy very shimmery shadows. Thanks guys! I just found you here and never knew they had faked out Nars as badly as they have MAC which I rarely buy and only then from the company themselves. The image shows the plastic protector covering the shadows, the case itselt looks authentic. The box and case both say NARS15, the nars being printed in red, the 15 in white. Unlike many fakes you cannot see metal around the shadows themselves. In this picture it appears as if the colors are in the pinks and gold family. The palette are actually moreso shimmery shades of golds and bronze with one shimmery white, maybe one rose gold? I will try and add my own pictures in the next day or two and add the seller if we are allowed should this be a fake.

What I would like to know is that if this is a counterfeit product should they be turned into ebay or does ebay even care if the products are genuine and what goes on thereafter? Thanks guys! xo

That is wrong in so many ways. Do any of us realize how much in debt to China that the United States actually is right now? Yet we keep sending money we don't have to help other countries nonetheless. When I have bought anything of Nars it wasn't a deal at all. It was the same as if I went to the store or maybe a dollar cheaper. Do these Chinese dupes have the same pigmentation as the Nars brand? If so, again how lucky chinese women are to be able to do their faces for such little money.(if this is the case I need to make a pen pal in china quickly since my finances are going so badly that buying my beloved Nars will be out of the question for quite awhile) Our drugstore brands have gotten so expensive that I refuse to buy them unless its a wet n wild which thankfully hasn't increased their prices of what a drugstore item will cost or a nail polish of which I have plenty. I have never bought a drugstore brand sans a mascara that I would ever make a repeat purchase of, its all so gimmicky without the quality. Hopefully my Nars exhibit A & mounia will last me until this hardship ends.....thats the one great thing about their blushes. Each one I own only needs the lightest touch with the exception of orgasm which is pretty, but not my thing to have pale glittery cheeks. I keep waiting for the day to come when Nars pigmentation changes in realization that they might get more business if they ran out more quickly. Everything that good never stays the same. :(

I myself was taken on ebay for 9 pan eyeshadow that was promised to be genuine. I have bought many great makeup items through ebay, but never will I pay close to full price for anything ever again.

When I became sick 8 months ago I began watching youtube Guru's which is the worst thing you can do if you are layed up feeling icky. They make you think you have to have things you didn't need and the spending spree began! I had plenty of makeup before watching these channels.

I can tell you with great honestly if you are a mac fan and are not a rich person that sigma brushes, especially their premium set is just as good as MAC, and many many fellow makeup artists have since sold and given away their MAC brushes and now use Sigma instead. If nothing else their synthetic face set is something so beyond the quality of the price and no of few other high end brands that even offer such a great set of three brushes. (sorry so long I tend to ramble) I am not affiliated with Sigma, make no video's, bought them with my own money, so you can take my word that my advice is genuine.

I am so sorry for all of us that this has happened to. It would be so much better if one drugstore brand would step up their game just a little so we of the noveau poor could still purchase a couple of pretty things now and then. xo

@dawn1962: The palette in that picture is most definitely a counterfeit. NARS eyeshadow palettes have FLAT pans of eyeshadow, they are not beveled/raised like in that picture. The pans are also rectangular, but they are placed in the opposite direction with the short sides of the pan facing top/bottom and the long sides of the pan facing side-to-side. Except for certain special palettes where there are also lipglosses/lipsticks included in the palette, the eyeshadow palettes almost always only have SIX colors in them.

An example of an authentic NARS eyeshadow palette is in this picture:

To answer your other question, the only powder blush or eye product that NARS has released so far that has the name "NARS" imprinted on the surface is the blush called Douceur. Any other imprinted product is likely a fake.

Agreed to all quoted. ... Also, the case in 9 colour palette has very rounded corners and to me doesn't look like NARS either ....
