I picked up Perky paint pot just to have one and I liked the color. I'm not sure how I'm going to use it. I really only use dark colors on my eyes so I didn't think i'd be using this as a base...

I guess I was thinking of using it as an eyeshadow by itself or maybe adding another regular eyeshadow to it. Is this a good idea, anybody have any tips? Or do you think i probably won't get much use out of the paint pot?

Cantaffordmac, I prefer lighter coloured paintpots (the dark ones I had I got rid of) but anyways you should definitely try playing with Perky. I usually put a light layer all over the lid and crease (just use a cheap-o e/s brush, but do it lightly, i've experienced yucky creasing when I had way too much on the brush, but you'll know if you have too much!) and then put colours over top. Now I usually put a lighter white/beige colour over Fresco Rose which makes it pinky.

Since I was curious I decided to swatch my hand with Perky and put different colours over. I'm definitely going to try an eye with pinks (I put one brush swipe of Cranberry over and it made a muted pink cranberry) . I also tried Woodwinked over it but it didn't seem to change it much (pretty much just came through all shimmery woodwinked colour). For fun I did a light brush swipe with Freshwater and another with Knight Divine--these were surprising , I liked how perky seemed to make freshwater almost purple-y and Knight Divine looks to me kinda gold-greyish.

Definitely play with it, there are some colours that don't change at all with some paintpots but at least you don't need to start the makeup application all over, you just have a good base.

Gigglegirl (i love that name),

Didn't you get Apple Red blush? Can you describe the color to me. Is it really bright or just a nice red red?
TIA

I did the SAME thing. One for backup, especially once I saw how gorgeous this color it. They always take away some of the most gorgeous LE stuff. Arrgh!

I'm glad someone else loved this color as much as me! It is sooo pretty.
So why is it LE? I thought they always kept the VG?

Nice to see you here Fairybelle, I thought you disappeared for
a while

No new blushes here for me, sorry! That's one thing that never draws my eye, I own a total of 2--pretty safe colours! I just got into lipsticks after just being all about eyes, maybe I'll eventually get more into cheeks!

But hope someone can help you!

Got the rest of my fafi order today - Flash N Dash & Hipness

Hipness is beautiful. No wonder everybody bought that color. Fresh looking.

Flash N dash - other than hating the glitter in it - it is a very pretty 'just bitten' lip color. Strawberry pink with a touch of orange/coral - if you just do the sheer one coat on the bottom lip & smack your lips together - its pretty & fresh looking.

This is how i wore it
Hipness with a swipe of Bobbi Brown Rose Shimmer Brick on top
Flash N Dash - 1 sheer coat with Tender Baby Tendertone on top - very pretty & helps blot out the glitter!
Metal x - Fusion Gold on eyes with just a hint of grey at v, lined top lid only with a heavy (but slightly blended out) line of Bobbi Brown's Graphite Shimmer gel

It just looked fresh daytime but classy - my new fave day look

Thanks for the tips Elegant-one! I felt I REALLY wanted High Top so bought it today, tried it on and MAN the glitter---which is weird b/c its not the same glitter factor in Strawbaby (well mine at least)--->I will try the tendertone and see if that helps me!!!

The Utterly Frivolous l/s only had shimmer, the Fun N Sexy had a little more but not heavy glitter - it was acceptable, but then the Flash n Dash had much more glitter. I would've bought a second of the flash n dash because the color itself is so pretty had it not had glitter.

Do you think they'll do an online restock of Fafi?
I wanted to get a back-up of Fun N' Sexy, I hesitated and now it's gone! =(

My Freestanding is out of it, and now it's gone online as well. =(

Not that there is any rule of thumb with MAC online - but with Barbie, after everything sold out, i checked every day and ended up nabbing another Malibu lipgloss when they did restock. Either that or check Ebay (I love/hate ebay)

I was surprised to see that Fashion Frenzy blush is sold out on the site. Seemed like everyone bought Hipness & you would've thought that would be the first to sell out. Yay, mine's on the way.

Just received/tried out Fashion Frenzy...It's verrrry pretty! It would be so gorgeous on WOC
Its a sweet true pink with slightly violet undertones. Reminds me of that healthy look on little kids when they've been running or out in the cold

Alright guys.

1) Why do the lipsticks look so different on everyone? High top looked so good on the swatches here. I'm a little bit upset--when I was at MAC the MA put some purple liner with high top and I absolutely hated it. I wiped it off within 2 seconds because I looked like a clown. She applied the liner kind of thick for my taste, but I don't know....High Top just looked very purple and glittery on me.

2) Ummm I had the same problem with Strawbaby. wtf? Everyone loves strawbaby. She put a red liner with it and I just hated it. I'm wondering if maybe she applied it too thick? Like some people said with Utterly frivolous, if you apply one coat its perfect but if you apply more it starts getting bright. Maybe thats what happened? I really don't want to buy a lipstick that I have to "fix" with another gloss/balm.

3) Why do i hate perky paint pot? It seemed great when I swatched it on my hand but I wore it alone yesterday to work and it was like nothing. I bought it since I don't have a pink shadow (i figured this could be my pink shadow) but it didn't show up alot. I used my finger to put it on (I know, I should've used a brush) but I don't really know which brush to even use. Sigh. I will try gigglegirl's suggestions and layer diff. eyeshadows on it. I hope I can make this work for me...its my first paint pot.

The Lure liner works really well with Strawbaby. I don't think a red liner is the way to go with that lipstick but, that's just me.

I didn't think so either! I only have one MAC liner which is Creme O Spice (works with damn near everything if you ask me) But I'm not really too big on liners anyway unless I want a more made-up look. She told me she was going to put a tiny bit of the red liner but it was way more than a tiny bit! it just made the whole thing look red and dark....I haaaaaate bold and dark lips.

I cannot ever stress that enough. but then when i want to try a shade like utterly frivolous and strawbaby people think I'm crazy because these aren't nude. I can't explain myself, but I know you guys understand. You're the only ones who get me.

There is a difference between bold and nude and I think some of these lipsticks fall between the two. It's like a happy median where the look, as you know, can be changed by switching the liner or even the gloss. I tried Strawbaby with the Cult Fave and loved it. The MA at the counter said here, add some Chestnut liner and then, I hated it. The Lure was much better but, I still like the lipstick with just the gloss. Listen to the one person who knows best what works for you: yourself. In the end, only your opinion matters.

LOL I totally get you!! I haven't ventured into the whole lipliner thing myself, I like just putting the lipstick straight on the lips and I usually put a gloss over--just habit and since I got a couple of the holiday sets (which were my 2nd foray into MAC lipglasses, as I only owned ONE plushglass since June 07!) I like mixing it up--putting Twig-Twig on the lips, and covering with a brown lustreglass, or lightening it up with a pinky gloss. I'm terrified of a lipliner and having my lipstick disappear over the course of the day and just have lip liner around my lips. I know you can colour your whole lip with it, but I'm still not sold on it!

Strawbaby seemed to be a bit bright on me (I'm NW15, my mom said it was fine, just that I'm not used to wearing colours other than gloss on my lips!) so I just have to get used to it, test out putting different glosses on top (I like putting tendertones--smells good!) I got High Top yesterday and am going to have to figure out how to get this to work, it looks like itll be a nice one to go out with, I'd almost put nothing over it or a bit of tendertone.

Cantaffordmac, I hear you and I'm still learning! I think there will definitely be some trial-and-error and getting out of the comfort zone (I want to be able to wear colours other than "safe" ones, really I do!) but it will probably just take some time. Hang in there!! At least you know I'm pretty much in the same boat as you!

I totally get you too, CantAffordMAC.

By the way, I prefer putting PP on with my fingers. I think you can get a much more subtle layer that way. I do use a tiny bit of shadow to layer on top. What ever I think the PP needs, which is usually a bit of a highlight or pop.

And lipsticks? Don't get me started. The swatches showed 2N and 3N to be the perfect nudes. On me, they are whitish and I need to play/adjust them to get that perfect nude lip. It's never just one swipe and off I go...

Utterly frivolous... it is fabulous, I love it and I got it thanks to you talking about it, but it can only be used in one small dab for me to get that pretty, lightful effect that I want.
