I was wondering the same! I'm thrilled to see the softer shades rolling out. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that it was just their plan all along! It seems to me that Chanel seems to really "get" what people want...and they somehow even know what we'll want before we do.

I'm drooling over all of the new info on Karla's site!!! I'm excited about the new glosses and the RA's and NP's coming out with them. The "candy pink" trio of Insolente RA, Insolence gloss and Rose Insolent NP will be mine, I can already tell. The entire holiday collection looks so pretty, can't wait for more pics and info.

Ok, so the brush set...tell me about the quality? It looks great but I've never even looked at a Chanel brush before. How do they compare to MAC sets? Or the full-size MAC brushes even?

Every year, with the holiday collection, Chanel releases a brush set. Two years ago it was a full size set and last year's was a travel one.

In my experience, Chanel brushes are really good. I own several and no one has ever lost a single hair. I must tell you the handles are not wood like MAC, but I don't care since they have never chipped, scratched or anything. They have a good weight (not too heavy not too light) to work with and they are seriously, seriously soft. Many pages ago we were discussing brushes.

Last year I couldn't grab the travel set but I managed to look at the sample one. I think the quality was the very same as the large size. To me they looked exactly like the large brushes, as I had all the ones in the set, but with shorter handles. Besides Chanel brushes are not more expensive than MAC ones.

Just one last thing, remember I get the Euro versions!!!

Hi, Hypathya!

About the brushes, I read from this blog that the short handled ones are made in China. But the blogger said that she felt they were just as good as those made in France.

My Makeup Reviews: Review: Chanel Les Minis De Chanel Gift Set Collection of Six Essential Mini Brushes, Limited Edtion, Holiday 2009

She did a review on the brush set last year.

However, I didn't get the n/p, lippies and lippes/blush sets last year. Checked my DFS and they didn't have them too. We got the brush sets but in very small quantities, like MAC's SR.

I agree with Megan. I believe it was the plan all along. First, they got us to buy the more daring shades as they are newly launched and everyone wants to try one or two of them. Then the more wearable shades are introduced and everyone needs another one or two of them again! That's me!

The Holiday Collection.....
sigh.gif
......the brush set will definitely be MINE!!
girlhaha.gif
I'm really glad they are short-handle versions - my biggest complaint with the 'normal' Chanel and Bobbi brushes is that the handles are just too long. I'm always banging them into my mirror and just find them unwieldy sometimes.

I also like the new glossimers (of course) and may check out the Tweed blush (though those don't call to me like the JCs do for some reason
th_dunno.gif
).....

And the quad looks interesting.....definitely need to see that in more detail!

October will be my 'Christmas shopping for me' month!

Let us know how you like it. I hope it's nice because I just bought one on Ebay!

I have the Tweed Rose, and it's really pretty. Definitely different than a JC, more of a traditional blush, but it's finely milled and appplied nicely. Plus I love the tweed design! Rose goes on really soft, so I can use a regular cheek brush (have the one by Laura Mercier), but I imagine the fuschia will be brighter.

I don't own any tweed blush yet and this tweed fuchsia looks promising.

Karla has details on the new Extrait de Gloss and the Fall/Winter Haute Couture show makeup. Didn't know the Extrait de Gloss is longwear. There is a good range of shades too. Can't wait to see real swatches! I want Rose Insolent n/p!

My Chanel holiday wish list:

  • Tweed Fuchsia blush (ok, you talked me into it - that was tough, eh?
    winkiss.gif
    )

  • Pink Pulsion glossimer
  • Confidence RAEdG
  • Insolence RAEdG
  • Emoi RAEdG
  • Confidentielle RA
  • Insolente RA

Heehee, yes, I'm here. I've been avoiding the ITG thread, well, really all the MAC threads, because I'm trying to cut down on my spending. Can you believe I only spent $50 on myself at the outlets while on vacation?!

We spent most of our time just lolling about and watching lots of Harry Potter. We did go on two 1/2 day hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park. One 7 mile hike at a "lower" elevation (probably around 8,000 ft) and a second 8.5 mile hike starting at 9,400 ft. and peaking at around 12,000 ft. Neither hike was too terribly difficult (although I was a little sore and tired after both), so I hope to conquer Long's Peak, which is 14,900+ ft. within the next couple of years...that hike is 15 miles, plus a 4,500 ft. elevation change!!

You work out pretty regularly, so I think you'd probably do pretty well! It's the altitude that gets most people, so as long as you give yourself a couple of days to acclimate. I've been going up to Estes Park since I was a little kid, plus, I also go skiing at least once per year, so I don't have to acclimate myself like a lot of people do. I get up there and I'm just fine! Vince usually needs a day or so before he's feeling back to normal.

In terms of lippies for a dark (indian) NC45 skintone what do you recommend when starting with Chanel. I really want to get Genial and some lacquers but can't bring myself to it because they're not signature Chanel. And I already have a few red lipstick from other brands so I can't justify buying a fourth because I don't wear them as often.

I would be game, actually I would love it. I would also love to ride my bike on a very long scenic bike trail. Jealous of the skiing as I always wanted to try it - that & snowboarding. Hubby used to ski all the time.

On a side note, I just invested in some good Mizuno running shoes. I was running in some pretty crappy not meant for running kinda pumas - but they were pink
lol.gif
What a difference the actual running shoes have made.

What do you mean by 'not signature Chanel'? Red? If you're not after a red, there are some very pretty Rouge Coco colors that would be good on dark skin -

If you want a good lacquer, Rouge Allure Lacque in Dragon is a beautiful red color that is very wearable (although I know you said you really didn't want another red, but you want something 'signature Chanel')....

What makeup colors do you like to wear? Do you normally do a bold lip with a strong eye, a bold eye with a nude lip, or a balanced look?
