Off to leave my feedback now.

MAC has written a letter to a member here stating that the eyeshadow pans are only smooth pans. NOT indented ring pans.

OMG thank you so much!! I purchased 2 E/S and the boxes and everything looked great! I mean all the markings were there, on both the box and the pot it's self. But when I swatched the colors I was like "umm...." I had a hunch they were not real but the containers and everything where on point! But low and behold when I depotted them the indented ring was there! Dammn, rip offs!! Thank you ladies for being so informed Thank you!

Also my addition to the HOW TO TELL IF ITS FAKE is:

When you depot it takes a longer time for the plastic to melt, and there is a stronger smell when the plastic is heated. Also there is a lot more glue on the bottom of the pot then an authentic shadow.

I bought some eye shadows from eBay UK last week and they arrived today. Guess what? 3 out of the 4 I ordered are FAKES!

They've number 15 on the back of the black tray. #%&#! I've contacted the seller and I wonder if she'll give me a refund. On her listing, she stated '100% authentic! Money back guarantee!' She has 100% feedbacks and is a PowerSeller. Ugh!!!! This is the first and the LAST time I'm buying cosmetics from eBay!!

I can't believe people even manufacture FAKE MAC.

[EDITED]
I contacted one of the seller and she said she was not aware of the fakes. She refunded my money immediately! Still waiting for the reply from the other seller...

Found a set today on e-Bay from a seller in Boca Raton, Florida. She says in the "subject" line that they are MAC eye shadows. In the text of the listing she never mentions MAC, nor does she say authentic.

She does say that there is a tiny little mirror and applicator inside and that they're from England, so there are no color names, just numbers.

I tried to list a fake CHANEL pin in e-Bay for a buck and clearly stated that it was fake and that I bought it in Chinatown in NY and they cancelled my auction... but these people are selling fake stuff for $50 and they get away with it?

I guess she put the MAC eye shadows on her subject so when people search for MAC, her listings will be shown up too. I thought that's against the eBay policy?

I wish I had a choice. I live in Norway, and we have no MAC stores. I think there's one single counter in Oslo, but... I don't live in Oslo

Thanks for this! I bought (stupidly) Stars N Rockets and Knight Divine on Ebay from a seller with a really good rep. When I depotted them though, they FELL APART and had rings in the bottoms of the pans.

I emailed her and she immediately refunded me and had me send her pictures, supposedly so she could send those pics to the person she got them from since she says she didn't know they were fakes.

I feel like she is telling the truth since she refunded me immediately and was very apologetic, but without this info I would have been out 30 bucks! Thanks so much for pointing out that the ringed pans mean they are fakes!

^^Important to note that this ONLY applies to eyeshadows and blushes... the Beauty Powders DO have ringed pans and these are authentic.

thanks to specktra posts regarding fake Mac eyeshadows!

unfortunately i've been the victim of fake MAC... i recently bought 3 lots of eyeshadows totalling about $135 US dollars and never even recvd them from the seller! i didn't know they were fake till I had already paid for them, and was waiting on them to arrive in the mail, to get my money back fast!
I paid the seller immediately thru PayPal and was not able to recoup any money, because the seller is no longer registered with Ebay and PayPal even though they have "Buyer Protection" they don't guarantee your money back. WTF!
So they basically wash their hands of You losing Your money.

That's not Protection at all, if you ask me. Be careful ladies!

I know it's no consolation when you've been cheated, but if it seems too good to be true, it generally is. I was conned on Ebay UK from a seller (can't remember the name now) for several MAC e/s. After contacting Ebay, they said the seller's account had been hacked and I could recover no losses from her and I had to take it up with paypal. I contacted paypal who, after several days, contacted the fake seller who had hacked the account and they said the products had been sent. Several days later (shipping from Hong Kong does take awhile, you know) - a box arrived full to the brim with fake MAC shadows I couldn't return or get a refund for.

Lesson learned.
