MAC - Brunette Blonde Redhead Collection Discussion

Ladies and gents please help me fill in the holes of my shopping list for tomorrow. Add or subtract, whichever. For reference: N2/NC20 with red hair and green eyes.

What I have:

Peroxide (do I really need this if I have Snowgirl and Snowscene?)
Live and Dye (is this a must for a gal who doesn't usually do pink?)

I know Make Up For Ever has some sort of finishing spray. You could look at that? Not cheap, though.

I was pleasantly surprised. I would say they lay on the frunky/chosty glitter continuum as follows:

so there's glow, but its not metallic. I had the MA apply it in the store and then double checked it when I got out to my car to make sure that it wasn't that bizarre metallic glow some msfs give me (Shimpagne, I'm talking 'bout you!

). It didn't make my pores look gianormous and deposited a lovely pink flush, so I was completely, um, stoked.

I think you'll love these. I would have picked up Brunette as well, but with so many bronzers, I decided to show restraint for a change. It was a novelty.

The lipsticks were pretty, but I have fairly pigmented lips, so I didn't think I would do them justice. I like neutrals or light pinks in amplified cream or satin formulas, so they will show up. But for the girls that like to rock the pale or sheer lips, they were very pretty.

But Strawberry Blonde and Red Devil rocked my world. And they fairly scream "Spring is coming!", so reason no. 3744 for why I love them.

Again, seriously though, check these out in person if you can. The swatches on MACs site are way off. I really was surprised at what things I ended up with. I had initially planned on getting mostly the eye shadows when the collection descriptions were first posted and ended up with none. Who knew?

so i ended up getting 100 strokes (i did not go in expecting to leave with this at ALL... i was totally impressed with the color & i agree with everyone that says this is what beauty marked should've been), french cuff (i don't have mythology and after comparing the two, preferred french cuff), and pincurl. i also got the redhead msf and i tried it as a blush last night and it looked amazing. i may have to go back and get the blonde msf.

i checked out the lipsticks & glasses too, but they weren't really that special. the lipsticks were too sheer for my liking (i had to really go at it and layer it on just to get a hint of color), and the lipglasses weren't all that unique... i think i'll wait for creme team in feb for lippies!

Back to the topic, the more differing opinions i hear on this collection, the more I am sticking to my original assessment.

I'm gonna have to go back and check out the lipsticks...I like sheer and add just a bit of color as I already have pretty dark lip colour already and my two lonely MAC lippies are like OLD!

I finally got to my PRO store today and got my brushes that I put on hold which I'm soo glad I did as they ran out of the tapered blending blush!!!

and mine was the last one!!! I was debating between the redhead and brunetee MSF, and when we swatched it on my hand the redhead appeared more of a rosy highlight, whereas the brunette was more of a bronzy-rose color that would be good as a blush as well. I also ended up getting deep shade, I knew I would...I thought I wasn't going to because everyone was saying it was close to contrast, but when I swatched it I really liked it! I'm soo happy...I'm on a ban now until Hello Kitty comes out! woo hooo!!!

Adler'sMommy went to the blog and saw pics of Erin... she said something like that's our Erine, she's freaking gorgeous...

Tish thought it was funny and posted a link to your FOTD... so Melissa could see what you look like... gorgeous like the other Erin, but in respect.. different. It was just a small confusion... funny though.

I always expected MAC artist's to have nice makeup, but you really do have great skills.

this is very funny! you see, i'm very pale, almost pastey. so i agree, it a very hilarious mistake. yes, she is pretty, but that is not me.

maybe one of these days i'll post a pic of me. i just hate how i look in pics. i think there's only one of me on my myspace page, and none on facebook. i've just never been very photogenic.

Quicktease - almost identical to jampacked, yay!!!
Strawberry blonde lg- i was afraid this would be too much for my pasty freckle face, but it's surprisingly not!
French cuff- ok, the texture sucks, but it's very pretty. I applied it wet with some fix + and its been delish
top knot- i dont like this. i feel like i was talked into it. in the store the ma swatched it and it looks really nice, but i cant get it to work. im gonna give it another shot, and if it does work i'm going to exchange this for something else. It just looks black!
redhead MSF- freaking gorgeous. i wore it with springsheen today and it was delish.

i have a m2b, so i think im going to get henna or 1000 strokes. is 1000 strokes really close to sketch? for those who have henna, i know its been compared to SO, but how about old gold, or mink and sable? I'm find im always slightly disappointed with mac's golds.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't very photogenic. I don't think I've ever taken a good picture. Usually, my mouth is open or my eyes are half closed or both!

In case any of my pale girls are wondering what l/g to get from this collection.... GET STRAWBERRY BLONDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a little sad yesterday because I put Red Devil on and I really looked so ghastly pale (NW20).... so then I just wore Possum Nose Pink and went on with my day.
But then when I got home last night, I put on Strawberry Blonde.... it was LOVE. It is one of those colors that is flattering even when I have no eye make-up on. It is perfect.... I need a back-up!!!!!

I look like a deer in headlights in most photos. It's awesome. Everyone else will be smiling and I look like the Ultimate Doom is right in front of me. Or, the alternative is, I have a really bad, frightened fake smile. It's hot.

Very rarely someone will catch a decent one. I've learned how to do it myself, and it involves not smiling. Don't expect smiles from me, damn it!!! Even though if you actually spent time with me there's an endless parade of them...

Oh, I'd like to add that Pincurl looks very nice over Fresh Cement shadestick. It's a lovely soft grey with a pink sheen to it. It's interesting.
