but just because you aren't a diehard mac fan and don't spend alot of money there, doesn't mean that you shouldn't be treated to a perk here and there, or that you should be entitled to one just because you have/spend alot of money. that's when it starts to cross the line into discrimination. when that person who just bought that one mascara or lipgloss gets a treat like a special invite, it makes them think that we care about the "little" person and that their single purchase didn't go unnoticed. plus, it's one way of turning that one-product purchaser into a future diehard fan.

See, I'm having problems with the trios as well. The lippies, I know for sure what I want, but its the trios I'm not sure about.

I wasnt sure if I should get the trio with the green in it, or the one with pink or both! UGH!! I agree with the sentiment that pink shadows are a dime a dozen. But I like the eggplant color.

What would have been great is if the colors of one of the trios were Hoppin, Mood Ring and Cassette. I would have made my choice already.

I guess I have to see it in person.

I can't go to a MAC store until I visit my parents during spring break

(there aren't any MAC stores or counters where I go to school). Do you think I should buy online or wait until I can swatch in person? I want to be able to see the stuff before I go crazy, but I don't want all of the nice stuff to be gone before I can go.

I really see both sides of the argument here. Treating all customers equally is great, and what you said completely makes sense. At the same time though, it's the complete opposite of the way a lot of retail stores work. Most stores have some sort of program, whether it's through a credit card, discount card, or special coupons, that rewards frequent shoppers. It's very common to get special privileges being a frequent shopper, and I don't think that's snobby at all. A lot of people will choose where they shop based on which company will give them the most for their money, which includes product itself as well as service perks.

It's understandable to be disappointed that MAC doesn't operate this way, and I honestly didn't even know until now that it was a random selection. But we all love MAC too much to go elsewhere just because we don't always get invites.

I have to ask at my counter today when they're releasing now...I'm excited that the collection might be out sooner, but it's a little stressful because I already had my shopping planned out! I'll be home for spring break for the 27th, so I had planned on going to my counter there. If it's on the 20th I'll still be here at school and I'll have to run over there after class next Thursday. This is one collection I pretty much have to see in person to make up my mind on, mostly for the lip and cheek products. I already know I want the eye stuff, but my lips are so pigmented it's near impossible to tell if things will work based off pictures and swatches.

On another topic, does anyone think it's worth calling my MAC store to see if Heatherette is being released early where I live? It's the only freestanding store in Nova Scotia, Canada, so I'm not too hopeful..But whaddaya think, worth a shot?

I agree, I don't think it was snobbish at all. So many retailers offer special perks to frequent shoppers.

I am torn on the trios too, and I am leaning toward passing on both! Here is my reasoning:

Green/Black/Peach Trio - I have an entire 15 palette full of mint/teal shades and while it is my favorite color to wear on my eyes, it will have to really knock my socks off to get me to buy it. The peachy shadow doesn't look all that unique, and I already have the Black with teal reflects from when it was launched with Blue Storm. If I get either of the trios it will be this one, simply cause I would wear these colors more, and I like the finishes of the shadows.

Pink/Purple Trio - I don't wear these colors often, and I already have the Cool Eyes palette from Holiday 2007 that looks similar, plus Fertile eyeshadow that looks similar to the darkest shade in this palette.

I really have to check these out in person and see if I really need either. I am hoping not, cause there is alot of stuff coming out in May and if I can save for those collections, that would be great.

I've called the pro store in NYC and they will not have the collection up till the 20th. It's still showing a March 27th release.

I stopped at the Macy's counter in Downtown Crossing in Boston and they didn't know anything about a change in the release date, so they called the Newbury Street store. They said everyone's release dates have changed to the 20th. I don't know if they were just speaking for the Boston area or all of the US, but I do know that one way or another I'll be getting my stuff before I head home for spring break.

For the Canadian ladies... I just called a MAC counter at the Bay in the Toronto area and they confirmed the 20th as well.

yup, i was just at a counter today and my MA told me it's being released next Thursday (the 20th!!). my MA also gave me a sneak peek and i'm getting my makeup done at an event on the 29th

I just did a live chat and was told that Heatherette IS launching at all locations on the 20th and online 2 days before that!!
