^^^ they are going to ask why you want to work for the company. What are your positive traits and what you think you can bring to the company. Color theory.. she asked me if i client had blue eyes what color would you put on their lid. Name a time where a manager may have not liked the way you did something, how did you react. What are your favorite mac products and why... Hope this helps!

MAC 2nd Interview

I successfully passed my MAC telephone Interview with Estee Lauder about 2 weeks ago. The area manager rang me to arrange a interview date. Its on wednesday.

I am just wondering what to expect? I am going dressed MAC 'black' fresh and funky, I have reddy/pink hair so I stand out anyway lol...

I have 18 months experience in doing make overs ect. Fashion shows and professional shoots. I have just completed a course in 'Fashion and Photographic Make up' I loved every minute. I have also been doing temp cover for counters in debenhams with a local agency to get 'in store/shop floor' experience.

I am very outgoing and extremely creative! I can't wait to do the make up test and show them my skills.

I am just nervous for the actual interview questions. Is there anyone who has had an interview with them recently and can advise me further????

I plan to do a few days of swotting up to make sure I get this position.

Ugh i know the feeling. I mean I just want a call back to know if I got it or not but I will call her and leave a message. She was on Vacation last week but she was back on the 7th so I'm gonna bug her and let her know im interested. I will continue to apply until i get it. There are many MACs in my area I still haven't applied at. Just dont give up sweetie you will get it. Until then build a porfolio and make business cards, shot become a freelance if ypu already aren't, thats what I am doing.

I applied at a lot the first time. they liked me in bowie but it all goes through Homa. 3 yrs ago I applied at bowie but demo'd at georgetown and interviewed with homa at pentagon so its the same in the area I think.

So to make a long story short, I had my demo yesterday and it went AMAZING. Unknown to me, when my manager asked me to chat after I turned in my application on Friday and after I completed my demo yesterday, I suppose she was interviewing me. Which I do kind of like because it was basically like chatting with a friend rather than having someone drill you when your already a nervous wreck.

Basically I did very well and she was keeping her boss updated by telling her that I came and she set up a demo right on the spot with me. I'm not really sure what the process is for most to get hired but now all I'm really waiting for is a phone call from my manager or her boss which I am guessing is the regional recruiter? Course she told me that it could take a few weeks but she said that if the phone interview goes good, I go in for the final paperwork and I'm in!

Can't really say I'm worried though. I want the job, my manager knows it and she wants me there. If your confident and know your stuff, I don't see how you can go wrong.

Re: MAC 2nd Interview

Hey guys!!

Had my interview. I thought it went really well. I didn't let my nerves get the better of me (took deep breaths) The man who interviewed me was very friendly and made me feel so relaxed.

I had spent alot of time researching the brand inside out and probably put myself under too much pressure as I started to panic if I had missed something.

Just a waiting game now. They said up to 2 weeks to find out. I did my best to answer all the questions as truthfully as possible. I also explained that I was attracted to MAC as it was very diverse and funky like me.

I have bright red/pinkish hair and the area manager LOVED my hair!!

Thanks guys I will keep you all updated when I hear any news xxx

Hi all,

This thread has been so helpful so thank you for all who have shared your stories!

I have my first interview with MAC on Friday and I know this is probably an obvious question but I just want to make sure I know. I'm just not sure what type of eyeshadow look to wear. Obviously, it has to be impeccable but should it be more of a day/professional wear or more for a nighttime/dramatic look?

Thank you for your help!

So, I filled out my freelance paperwork about a month ago (maybe more)... and still nothing. I might call the store I filled it out yet, because when I went I still had my old state's license, and she said when I got my new one to just bring it in and they'd make a copy. So that sounds like a good excuse to call and sort of follow up too- right?

She and I are pretty cool since I literally go there every single weekend to shop! The regional recruiter contacted me via email this week and set up a phone interview. My question is, what to expect? I have read other threads on here and most people have said they started with a group interview and if they passed that, were then sent on to do the demo interview. Not that many people have mentioned phone interviews, but most of the posts I was reading were older so perhaps the process has changed? I just want to know what to expect, like will it be phone interview, then group, then one on one? Or no group? Or what??? Any info anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!!!!

Update:
My phone interview went great and at the end of the interview, she invited me to come to the demo interview w/ model. I am sooo excited! My demo is on the 29th. My peeps at my MAC store said that b/c the demo is during the week, it will likely be just me rather than a group. But so many people on here have said they were in a group for their demo, so IDK what to expect. Although, I think alot of people on here have gone to things where MAC was doing like a massive hiring. I believe that they are only looking to fill 1-2 spots so I suppose it would make sense that they would not do demos in groups. Has anyone else on here ever done demo interview "alone" as in not in a group? I am SO hopeful that it is not a group setting b/c then they can't switch models up on me!

I firmly believe that the research I did here on Specktra helped me get through the first interview so thank you to all who've posted interview tips! I am hoping to have the same outcome to from my demo!

I am not sure how I am going to make it through the next week. I am so anxious and excited!

When I applied I guess they were doing massive hiring because it was two months before the holidays. The day of my demo they had schedule people alllll day but it wasn't everyone together and at the same time. Everyone had their own time and it was 30 min per person. My demo it was just me, my model and a manager. Just read all the info you can here on specktra and you'll be fine. Best advice to you... they are looking if you can sell makeup so talk to your model about the products a whole lot! =)
