So that sounds like a good excuse to call and sort of follow up too- right?

There is nothing wrong in calling to follow up on your paperwork. It shows interest and that you are looking forward to working with them soon. I called mine at least 3 times and by the third time my manager informed it had gone through and I could start working. Its better to call then sit and wait for them when they have so many people to follow up with it already. Good luck!!

My demo it was just me, my model and a manager. Just read all the info you can here on specktra and you'll be fine. Best advice to you... they are looking if you can sell makeup so talk to your model about the products a whole lot! =)

Thank you! I plan to talk like crazy to her about everything I can think of. Thanks again for the tips and support! I am so excited for it!

Oh, I had a phone interview, so I suppose I could give some tips to anyone who is awaiting one of those
smiles.gif

My phone interview questions consisted of

My three favorite MAC products
How I would close a sale
My personal approach to customer service
My retail experience (obviously ;P )
I had to rate myself based on my knowledge of color theory, properly sanitizing, current trends/fashions
Why I want to work for MAC

I had a phone interview with a regional recruiter, she then set me up with a make up application interview. We shall see how it goes!

Hi everyone! First i want to introduce my self and say hello, i am new to this site. I found it while browsing information for my MAC interview. Thank you to all who posted there expierences with the interviews, it really helped me to be prepared for what might be asked. I had my interview yesterday and was wondering why i had my interview with the MRO of MAC first.... i know every state and MAC is probebly different but it seemed like the interviews that people had here they had a phone interview, demo, the interview with the MRO. My first interview was yesterday and it was with the MAC manager and the MRO. They were so down to earth and nice which mad me relaxed and helped my nerves go away! So hopefully i get a call back for the demo and i dont know if i will have a phone interview or not...hmmm...well thanks again to all the members that posted there expierence and knowledge!

ok i'm a nervous body anyway and i dropped my app and resume off today and talked to not the hiring manager but another manager(hiring manager just got promoted to regional so she's super busy) and she asked me why i wanted to work there and what not and said she'd give the hiring manager a good word and her thoughts and my resume/app.

now i'm just nervous. will i get a call that IS a phone interview or will i get a time for one? i'm confused! also what's the customary amount of time before i call to see if the hiring manager was able to look at it?

tia!

They didn't forget about me : ). I went to the counter i interviewed at yesterday to pick up some stuff- and was chit chatting w/ the assistant mgr, she said they desperately need shifts covered and encouraged me to call the store I filled out my freelance paperwork today. So I did, and they asked me my name and before I even finished spelling my last name she was like "Oh, yeah- they just called about you yesterday. I don't know what's taking HR so long with all this paperwork, but AS SOON as we get a response we'll call you". They've all been so nice, I feel like such a pain in the ass calling- but they don't seem to mind at all.

I just got the call tonight
yahoo.gif
I got offered the position for on call. I only did one interview but it was with the MRO and the M.A.C manager. I did 3 with nordstroms though ...a phone interview, 1 on 1 with the HR and then one with the cosmetics manager, so maybe that's why i didnt have to do more with M.A.C. I didnt have to do the demo but maybe because im just on call right now... i dont know. The cosmetics manager from Nordstrom called me tonight to offer it to me, i start training for 3 days on monday

Last week I chit chat with the manager and get along pretty well, she is a nice person then I had my 1st interview yesterday with the manager and assistant manager.. It took about 1 hr and a half.. I think it went great, they seemed interested in m y portfolio and my makeup fashion styling experience but I do not have too much experience with sales and that's what I'm worried about.

I applied at Bowie, Metro Center Macy's and all three MAC's at Pentagon City. I had an interview for the MAC counter with the beauty department manager at Nordstrom @ Pentagon her name is Melissa Yost and Homa for the actual MAC store. Sucks because Melissa called me and informed me that I did not get the job but still no call from Homa and its been about a month. Pretty sure I did not get the job. =( So I'm still freelancing and working at a hair salon.

My MAC Story :)

Well to start....
Hi I'm Jemmy and I'm new to this
smiles.gif

Ive applied for MAC twice before this time, first time I was too young
ssad.gif
second time I screwed up big time!

So, I handed in my CV on the sunday dinner time as I lost my previous job at Urban Decay.
Suprisingly I got a call the day after asking me to come in for an interview on the Thursday, I was like YES YES YES!!
I was so excited but I was'nt gunna let the 2 other times I've been get me down, because I believe if you want something so much you will try try try again
smiles.gif

The artists downstairs told me that if I passed the interview I would be given a makeup test straight after
smiles.gif

So anyways I had a normal talking interview with the manager and the assistant manager they were so lovely!
They didnt make me feel uncormfortable in anyway
smiles.gif

They asked me questions like:
-Why do you want to work for MAC?
-How do you feel about our products being for everyone?
-Give me a good example of customer service you have given?
-How do you feel about wearing different looks eg. black lipstick?
-Who is your makeup icon?
However I learned from the second time that you HAVE to be prepared because thats were I let myself down!
So I passed the interview
smiles.gif
and I advise anyone just be yourself!
So I made my way downstairs and the manager asked me if I was offered the job how long would it be for? I honestly said I know it sounds like a sucky up answer but I said probably the rest of my life, however I would like to travel with MAC, shows ect.
So I was downstairs and the trainer that did my second makeup interview was doing this one *poop*
But I walked up confident and simply said hi and that I was back with a cheeky smile
smiles.gif

I said to her the first time was a disaster and she was like no dont be silly! But she had seen my makeup from the second interview (i did a soft netural look) so she had seen my application and customer skills.
So she said right lets do a bold lip, so I picked "magenta" lip pencil with "girl about to town" and blended.
So she sat me down after I did it and asked me a few questions, one of them being can you describe the different skin types.
Well I did beauty therapy so I had it drummed into me for 2 years haha
smiles.gif

So she said if you do/dont get the job we will ring you in about a week!
LONGEST WEEK OF MY LIFE!
So I got a call the same time a week later, I was shaking!
She said "We'd like to offer you a part time position" everything after that was a blur haha!
I was like WOOP!
Of course I accepted and she asked if I was excited, she said can you come in tomorrow for store approval tomorrow, I was like of course!
However this store approval was different (Ive had store approval for Boots before)
And when I did I got told straight away wether or not I had the job on the spot, this wasnt the case, the store approver just didnt seem interested I was so disheartened
ssad.gif
Then to make it even worse I saw a girl from my makeup test and she didnt know who I was and she said "can you show me were the mac store approval room is" I said "Yeah sure
smiles.gif
" I asked her what position she was there for "Retail Artist"
My heart sank
ssad.gif

As far as I was aware there was only one position going for that!
So I thought I was head to head, So as I was leaving the store I said hello to all the MAC workers just to show I was keen and friendly and the manager said she would give me a call later that day.
I was waiting and waiting and about 5 hours later my phone rang.....
YOU HAVE THE JOB!!
I dont think I've ever been so emotional in my life! I then realised how lucky I am! She asked me if I was excited and I was pretty much jumping all over my bedroom!
So I start July 5th
smiles.gif
SOOO excited!
If you have any questions feel free to ask
