... I may or may not be making a spread sheet of things for myself to study to get ready for Weds. Pathetic or genius?

Genius I'd say! Haha.

Before I had my interviews I was up literally all night the nights before researching every little thing - I even tried to revise every single shade of eyeshadow, lipstick, blush and lipglass....and was never asked one single question regarding any of them haha. But anyway, the studying really helped boost my confidence - but just don't overdo it, you'll have all these ideas for answers floating around in your head and you might get jumbled up! Haha.

I wish you the best of luck for Wednesday, lovey! I'm sure you'll do fine! x

Oh wow, that's ambitious!! The first time I interviewed for them I tried to memorize every single brush, that got me nowhere clearly lol.... I'm just trying to remember all of the charities, the history, all that stuff.... I'm so nervous!!! But thanks so much for your comment it was really sweet =)!!

so, for my first interview i did a crazy smokey purple eye with pretty neutral everything else (except viva glam gaga, i dk if you'd consider that neutral haha)... second i did a basic eye ( naked lunch, twinks in crease.. winged liner) with dark red lipstick.... now i'm interviewing w/ the dm tomorrow- i'm thinking of keeping it all neutrals but showing technique... like brown smokey eye+ neutral lips or brown smokey and viva glam gaga again.... i don't want to over- do color, but i want to show that I've got blending and such down.... or do you think i should throw more color in there? i don't want to be boring, but i feel like since i went dramatic the first 2 i should down play it a little

My peeps at my MAC store said that b/c the demo is during the week, it will likely be just me rather than a group. But so many people on here have said they were in a group for their demo, so IDK what to expect. Although, I think alot of people on here have gone to things where MAC was doing like a massive hiring. I believe that they are only looking to fill 1-2 spots so I suppose it would make sense that they would not do demos in groups. Has anyone else on here ever done demo interview "alone" as in not in a group? I am SO hopeful that it is not a group setting b/c then they can't switch models up on me!

I firmly believe that the research I did here on Specktra helped me get through the first interview so thank you to all who've posted interview tips! I am hoping to have the same outcome to from my demo!

I am not sure how I am going to make it through the next week. I am so anxious and excited!

UPDATE - I had my demo. I showed up thinking it would just be me with the trainer, but OH NO. It was me, and about 5 or 6 other hopefuls, and ONE trainer. She gave us all the same scenario, basically the "day to night" look. Then sat in the corner of the room to observe all of us. We were timed 30 minutes for the day look, and 15 for the evening "transformation." I just do not see how she could have seen and heard everything everyone did, which seems sort of unfair to me. Has anyone else out there gone to a group demo like this where there was just one Mac person there observing an entire group???? Besides that, here are the things I am freaking out about:
For the night look, I sanitized all product first, then went back and applied it. I started freaking out thinking, "what if she didn't see me santize this lipstick 5 minutes ago b/c she was watching someone else? What if she only just now saw me pick it up and thought I did not sanitize it????? Stuff like that was increasing my nerves and causing me to not do as well as I know I could have in terms of interacting with my model, selling the products and making good color choices. also thought about sanitizing my hands a thousand times before starting, but when the time came, all I could think about was the time constraints so I dove right in and totally forgot. At one point I almost forgot to take product out of the pot onto a spatula and started to dip my brush in. Luckily I had prepped my model on the expectations so just in time she "cleared her throat" to remind me.
Things that went well:
In the end, my model's make up looked great and I did everything I felt I should have.
I felt like I looked the most polished out of everyone there. \My makeup looked fierce too, I was very proud of it. When we began the demo, I laid some tissues out and ONLY place my products on the tissue. I noticed others were laying their stuff everywhere and making messes. I also was the only one there who brought my own brush belt and brushes. I made sure to discard all used tissues, etc immediately . I talked alot. Not sure I made much sense as I tend to ramble when nervous. The person I used as my model was my hairdresser. For the night look, I used Dubonet. It looked nice.

The trainer thanked us all and sent all of us on our way, saying that it would be about a week before we hear anything. This is what is also making me a crazed basket case.... Other Specktra peeps have talked about getting offered the job on the spot. Even in group interviews, I saw one person's entry where they sent everyone else out of the room but kept her behind to offer the position to her. So now I'm thinking that I did not get it and will be getting a "thanks but no thanks" call/letter next week. Am I being paranoid? Help please! I need to be sedated for the next week or something!
I am just so worried and uneasy about it and I hate this waiting! I know others can relate so this is why I am dumping this huge post of ridiculous nerves!

i'm not trying to be rude but just because your clothes cost more why should that mean something?

i think from reading all the stories that every mac is different in terms of their demos and hiring. you could get a call later on or not depending on how they do it at yours. you can always check in though from my experience it won't hurt.

as per my beauty school red isn't necessarily hard to work with it's hard to match someone to their correct red(ie orangey red, red red, blue red, pink red yanno?)

but again good luck

My phone interview questions consisted of

My three favorite MAC products
How I would close a sale
My personal approach to customer service
My retail experience (obviously ;P )
I had to rate myself based on my knowledge of color theory, properly sanitizing, current trends/fashions
Why I want to work for MAC

I had a phone interview with a regional recruiter, she then set me up with a make up application interview. We shall see how it goes!

I got the call Friday night that I got the freelance job
smiles.gif
Im soooo excited! I hope it turns into something full-time! Congrats to everyone else that got the job! This thread has been so helpful for me and I think it helped me land the job.
