MAC - MAC Me Over Discussion

Today I did an eye look with moody, lady grey, prance, and blanc type. I used midnight blues as a liner. I am still happy with my purchase of both quads, though I know I am in the minority liking the evil eye quad.

I agree that runway red is great! Unfortunately I included this in my order from mac.com which still hasn't arrived.

Apparently it will be here Tuesday.

I agree also about the shadesticks. I like street cool the best. Heirloom is a definate pass.

I may have to make another trip to my counter to look at Evil Eye. I really love colors like it. And I've had good experiences with other "hated" quads (like the WW Defiance quad, which I just wore the other day).
Of course, I am also NC20 and wear smoky eyes a lot as a day look, so I also like the idea of a "buildable" dark quad. I have lots of dark colors already, and if Evil Eye was super-pigmented, I probably wouldn't need it -- I have plenty of blackened colors.
I purchased the Evil Eye Quad and love it. The quad gets an A from me. The colors are unique and I've had no problems at all with color pay off. Definitely try it to see if it works for you.

With the hurricane... I still haven't gotten a chance to head to look at this collection.

In your opinion, what's been the best things from the collection now that everyone has had a chance to play around with their stuff??

I feel the same way you do about Heirloom. All I saw was shimmer, no color. Guess it doesn't work on lighter skin tones either

So, if I had kept to my gut instincts, I would've just had Creamy Bisque and Street Cool and i would've been a happy camper. Instead, I was enabled and bought Outre, Cakeshop and Heirloom. All of which suck.

I love Prince Noir lipstick! I know I have seen similar colors from other lines, but this one really stands out to me and I love the matte texture. It also seems to wear really well. I purchased Smoked Purple lipstick as well, but I need to see how it looks with my makeup done, I only tried it on with a bare face and I couldn't really get the full affect. I also noticed that this one seems to go on a tad bit drier than Prince Noir. I haven't played around with any of the other things I purchased yet since we have been preparing for this hurricane, but I will post as I try them out. I can't wait to try out Mythical eyeshadow and the two fluid lines I purchased. I also haven't used the 266 or the 211 brushes I purchased. After reading everyone else's posts I really want to order Carbonized and Runaway Red.

I have lurked here for a LONG time, and finally decided I should post, because it is good to talk with others who share a passion for makeup (especially MAC :)) My husband looks at me like a complete weirdo when I get all excited about a new productI want to try...LOL.

Best lip product for me is definitely Runaway Red - perfect red of my dreams (but it's red, which is often tricky, so mileage may vary).

For best shadow, I think Creamy Bisque is one of the nicer MAC highlight shadows I've seen from them - if you're looking for one, it's very sophisticated. Otherwise, Mythical if you want a gorgeous color with a beautiful shine. I like Moleskin very much but that and Outre won't work equally for all skin tones. Carbonized is too samey for me.

You can't go wrong with the colored Fluidlines, especially Avenue and Dark Envy.

Shadesticks are all quite skippable except Street Cool, but even that's not a must.

I love Equilibrium, since it's not easy to find a brown blush for light skin and it's so easy to apply perfectly without having to go back and blend, blend, blend. If you don't already have something like this, it's pretty much the most fashion forward cheek color coming up for fall, winter and probably beyond (although i bet there will be a contouring backlash and we might see some screeching loud, bright blushes in spring/summer 2012.)

I hate that the MA told me I couldn't back-to-mac collection lipsticks when I asked if I could do it for Runaway Red. Was she making up her own damn rule??!!

I'm sorry to hear that. Try a different MA or counter.
Thanks Mac-Guy. Next time I will do just that and see what happens. I just went ahead and bought the lipstick when she said I couldn't Back-To-MAC for it. I wasn't leaving without it! LOL! I started to go to another counter and try for Smoked Purple but just decided to go eat in the food court and went home but in the future I'll definitely try another counter. Thanks.

Shontay, I hear you on the shade sticks. I got Cakeshop and I LOATHE it. Its sheer, gritty, dry, ornery, and utterly unusable. It's going back.

For some bizarre reason it swatches sort of ok on my hand but doesn't work at all on my eyelids.

Got my first box on Friday...

Cakeshop s/s- I actually love it. It does have a chunkier shimmer so it def works best with a shadow over it to smooth it out. I put Dalliance over it and I'm digging it.
Street Cool s/s- Love this one too! I didnt need a shadow over it, its great on its own. These are great for a quick day looks, I'm hoping the lady grey quad will work well with these s/s's. And I'm looking forward to using it for purple eye looks
Dark Envy f/l- love love it! Looks great with brown eyes. I'm thinking of getting Avenue too, but will prob just wait for the purple one from the Mac color collection. I use the 209 with it and it works just fine.

Elegant would you say Avenue will look good with brown eyes? You all are making me want Mythical! lol just dunno if its a must have for cool toned brown eyed people
Will be getting my second box tomorrow or tues.

Is it worth getting avenue if I have backtrack? Are they very similar when worn?
