What I mean is that when looking at the complexion I don't look at it in terms of warmth, I look at it in terms of actual color to match using N, C, NC, and NW shades. I hope that makes sense.

I think that color warmth is important when it comes to eye, cheek and lip colors. A warmer color will give more of a summery look for example, which is the point of a product like a bronzer.

Another example is a brown crease eyeshadow. For a warm color, I would suggest Expresso. For a cool color, I would suggest Concrete (MAC store exclusive but a great example). They are both a medium tone brown, one warm and one cool. I think an icy blue iris looks BEAUTIFUL with a warm brown, so I would go with Expresso. A nice warm green or brown (though it looks gorgeous with Expresso) looks gorgeous with a cool toned brown like Concrete.

Product warmth can give anyone's look subtle versatility like my example of the browns. Does that make more sense? I hope I'm not just making it more confusing!!

Hated it! I found NOTHING special about it..other than the packaging...Tried to like it...just didn't maybe it was the fact that I am NC45...but I was not impressed

So it's not worth it to buy the mystery powder? I'm looking for a pressed powder, so I'm kinda torn between getting the mystery powder or those from MAC's regular collection. But the mystery powder is so expensive though, if there's nothing special about the powder itself, maybe I'll give it a miss.

I haven't touched my Mystery Powder more than once b/c it's too dark for me.

I think it's lame that there are only 3 shades, so unless they're a perfect match, don't bother. And I didn't notice anything special about the finish, probably b/c when it was on me it made orange.

Mystery Powder is wonderful, in my opinion. It's somewhere between a blot powder and a foundation; it certainly gives more coverage than the blot or loose powder. The texture is great. Some people say it doesn't do much for them as far as blotting (keeping shine down) . . . it's plenty for me, but my skin tends towards the dryer instead of oily. But if you're looking to save money or the colors don't work for you, go with the blot powder.

Thanks a lot for the post! I'll go and check out the shades later, see if there's a shade that works for me.

I use blot powder to set my makeup, because I have unbelievably oily skin, but I'm looking for a powder that has slightly more coverage for touch-ups when I'm outside. In your opinion, would the mystery powder work well for this purpose?

It should work beautifully provided one of the colours matches you.

i thought the monogram products where distincly average. especially the clutch bag...its made from vinyl, the price they are asking it should be leather! £58 for a plastic clutch :S

How hard is it to replace the pressed powder in the Monogram Sheer Mystery compact with a blush? Is it possible? I'm thinking of buying it.

And how would I do it? Any suggestions?

PS regarding the brushes: is the kabuki brush from the first couture collection as amazing as the current couture brushes? If so, I might have to ebay for it!

PPS speaking of the kabuki from the first couture collection, do fakes pop up on ebay at all? I see the brush on ebay from time to time, but I'm a little leery if it's commonly counterfeited!

Just to let you know that my kabuki SE from the 06 couture came in today and.. wow! as someone already said.. this is THE shit I mean: really soft and dence. It's not all metal as some said but it's quality material and I love it. I can't stop playing with it

and it looks nice in person, I even love the grip on it.

Now I wish I could find the ones from the Stylistics.. they were much nicer in my opnion then those gold ones, I can't convince myself to buy a pricey brush like those with a pendant thingny on it. Seriously who's idea was that!?!? I will wait for ebay (if better price)or next year collection. That said... they are still tempting me... argh.. why MAC why!!!!

I'm guessing that a pro palette refill would slide right in, as would a depotted blush. The mystery powder pops out really easily, there's a pinhole on the bottom of the compact you use to pop it out when it's spent.

Edit: if they compacts are similar to Stylistics, I think it would actually be easier to use a depotted blush, or at least a depotted blush would fit more flush to the compact, since the compact itself has a magnet, unlike the pro palette refills where the magnets are on the pans.

Oh that's makes sense, I thought I saw a little hole on the bottom.

Maybe I'll buy one and use it for a blush compact when it's empty. Thank you so much for the suggestion!

Does anybody have the official word yet on when the Employee / Pro discounts will kick in? I'm dying without my mystery powder!

I am wondering if the lipgloss is very similar to the dazzleglass? They look like they could be and in Canada they would actually be a better buy, thinking I should buy some

They're very sparkly, although note quite as sparkly as Dazzleglass. And they're not nearly as sticky.
