What I mean is that when looking at the complexion I don't look at it in terms of warmth, I look at it in terms of actual color to match using N, C, NC, and NW shades. I hope that makes sense.
I think that color warmth is important when it comes to eye, cheek and lip colors. A warmer color will give more of a summery look for example, which is the point of a product like a bronzer.
Another example is a brown crease eyeshadow. For a warm color, I would suggest Expresso. For a cool color, I would suggest Concrete (MAC store exclusive but a great example). They are both a medium tone brown, one warm and one cool. I think an icy blue iris looks BEAUTIFUL with a warm brown, so I would go with Expresso. A nice warm green or brown (though it looks gorgeous with Expresso) looks gorgeous with a cool toned brown like Concrete.
Product warmth can give anyone's look subtle versatility like my example of the browns. Does that make more sense? I hope I'm not just making it more confusing!!
