I got the pandamonium quad, depotted and sold that color. It is a typical lustre. There are plently of great gunmetal greys by MAC with better finishes (I LOVE Scene!) It definately isn't a must have IMO.

they are different. n collection glosses were more nude colors, where these are pink/peach, with the exception of bateaux, which is a peachy nude.

OMG I love Palatial and it sure sounds that I will be getting Love Knot as well!

Stupid question probably but does anyone know how the darker blue pigment compares to steel blue and navy blue pigments? I'm trying to spend wisely now and need to cross stuff off my list!! And I do apologise profusely if this has already been asked and I've not seen...

edit: And I see that it already has *:dodges things thrown at her:* How about compared to steel blue pigment though rather than navy blue?

Watch the youtube videos that tinkerbelle2001 posted a few pages back - there are direct comparisons there to Naval Blue and Blue Storm pigments

Aww, I'm sorry

Try it, you may love it! I just have other greys that I use more. The color is nice, but I can't deal with the texture and fallout. Just my opinion though... check it out and see for youself. It may be just what you want it to be.

Thanks Audrey, I scratched Pandamonium out of my list. Now I will get another pigment on top of Mutinity

I was wanting Pandemonium too and I don't even know why. Lustres make my eyes hurt and now that I think about it. In the pictures in looks just like Black Tied. I was scolding myself the other day for having so many black shadows that I don't use anyways.

I'll scratch that off and add something else to the list.

I wished they released NN early instead of Dazzleglass. I don't care at all for Dazzleglass, but I'm so excited for NN.

MAC messed me up by releasing Dazzleglass early, since I can't buy until after the first of May!
I'm just hoping that the shades I want will be around for a while. I may have to do the old buy-backups-before-you've-actually-seen-the-product thing!

I saw the collection in person today. Now I want more than what I did before! I shouldn't have looked haha. Well one good thing is that I wanted Meet the Fleet and now I don't cause it looks too blah to me.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I tested out both Mutiny and Lark About at the MAC store today and I am impressed with both of them. My new MAC guy said that LA is similar to Frozen White except more lilac-y. I don't like how uber-flaky it is though. Mutiny, on the other hand, is great-I'm going to press some with Aire-de-Blu and a little bit of Lark About and see how it turns out. Hopefully when I go back tomorrow, I can see some of the lip stuff.

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I know that I am going to burst alot of bubbles with this post. I saw the collection in person today. In a word - DISAPPOINTED
ssad.gif
I had such high hopes for the collection, and have every intention of buying 90% of the collection. I just feel that alot of things are dupeable and there are very few standouts. I preordered:

-Mutiny Pigment
-Bell Bottom Blue Pigment
-Lark About Pigment
-Shore Leave Eyeshadow
-Illegal Cargo Eyeshadow
-Ensign l/g
-Naughty Nauticals Nail Lacquer

To me, the standouts were Mutiny and Bell Bottom Blue. I am NW15 for reference. Here are my thoughts on the collection...

Mutiny Pigment - This is a beautiful pale, but bright, aqua blue. It has the same frosty look that Azreal blue does but has more green. Azreal Blue is a more silvered blue compared to this one. It is not chunky. It is not as aqua as Aquadisiac Eyeshadow, and not as bright, but I am sure that the two will look beautiful together.

Bell Bottom Blue Pigment - I was very pleasantly suprised by this one. It has the same powdery texture as the pigments from the Danse collection. The white sparkles are very obvious. It looks beautiful packed on or sheered out. It is not as dark as I thought it would be, and is definately different enough from all of the previously released blue pigments that I can think of.

Lark About Pigment - I was planning to pass on this one, but found someone to split a jar with me, and I am glad to say that I like it. It is a very sheer white with beautiful blue and violet iridescense. If you remember the sheerness of Quick Frost Pigment, it is similar, but the blue/purple are obvious. It appears slighty silvered in the jar. This one is the most chunky of the pigments, but it is not overly chunky like say, Helium pigment. It has more of the texture of Jardin Aires. Not as smooth as ones like Vanilla, but it is bareable. I really like it.

Shore Leave Eyeshadow - This is not all that special or unqiue, but I needed a cream colored shadow, and this fit the bill. It is not overly pink or yellow or white. It is a pure cream color, and beings that it is a VP, I definately needed it.

Illegal Cargo Eyeshadow - I was a bit on the fence about this one. I thought I was going to pass because in pictures, it looks alot like Shale and Neutral Pink. Illegal Cargo is more purple than NP. It does not have the brown/grey tones that Shale has. It probably does resemble at least one of the other LE purples that MAC put out, but I don't have anything like it, so I ordered it. It will pair well with darker MAC purples, and will make a nice subdued look. It is not bright, but I didn't see many of the grey tones that were mentioned in the description.

Submarine Eyeshadow - This was one of the things I was most disappointed about. I was completely prepared to purchase this one, but when I swatched it next to Freshwater, it was nearly identical on me. It is VERY slightly darker. I don't wear shades this bright too often, so Freshwater is enough for me.

Meet the Fleet Eyeshadow - As soon as I swatched it, this was completely passable for me. It is not chalky but it swatched very patchy. When swatched next to Graphology Eyeshadow, MTF is more blue, and Graphology is more purple, but MTF isn't navy. I swatched it next to Prussian which is a matte navy, and MTF is more blackened and has a touch of purple. I may have gotten it if the texture was better. The color is nice (very dark) but the texture leaves alot to be desired.

I wasn't too happy with the texture of the lustreglasses. They seemed heavier and goopy. Almost the texture of the lip lacquers. They are all pigmented and opaque enough to be worn alone.

Ensign Lustreglass - I got this one because I felt it was perfect for summer. It is a beautiful shade of watermelon pink. Not overly pink or peach or coral.

Love Knot Lustreglass - This is the one l/g that I completely expected to get. I was looking forward to the blue duochrome, but when I swatched it, I thought that the blue duochrome was almost overpowering. It reminds me of a gloss I could get by mixing Pink Pearl pigment with clear gloss. There are definately blue/purple undertones and it definately wasn't flattering on me. The MA put it on (she is NW/NC35ish, olivetoned) and it looked amazing on her.

Bateau Lustreglass - I didn't pay too much attention to this one. It is a light bronzy color. Competely opaque with high level pearl.

Hey Sailor Lustrglass - I may go back for this one. It reminds me of one of my favs, VGVI l/g. It is the least opaque of all of the l/g, but it is not sheer. There is sparkle in this one, which the others don't have. I wouldn't call it plum, but more of a rose pink. I think this one will suit a variety of skintones.

Ahoy There Lipstick - This is the one I was most attracted to, but it is like most of the other l/s I own so I passed. It reminds me a bit of Her Fancy l/s. Nothing too special, but a very pretty pale pink l/s.

Buoy oh Buoy Lipstick - I didn't pay too much attention to this one either, but it was nice. More tan/brown than pink. Pale and sheer and probably wouldn't show up on those with highly pigmented lips. It could be a YLBB color for us pale girls.

Party Mate Lipstick - This one is a beautiful shade of rosey pink. I was so tempted to get it, but I know that it is more color than I am comfortable wearing so I resisted. It isn't bright or dark by any means, but I am so used to my pale lippies.

Port Red Lipstick - I swatched this out of curiousity to see how close it was to Queen's Sin. IMO QS is MUCH prettier, but if you like red lippies, you will probably love this one. It is more of a yellow red than QS and does not have the same sheen, or almost metallic-ness of QS.

Naughty Nauticals Nail Lacquer - I wasn't planning on this, but it is beautiful! In comparing it to OPI Russian Navy, RN has bits of red sparkle and shimmer and NN has a navy blue frosty pearl. It looks beautiful in the sunlight. Not a dark navy. It almost reminds me of the navy blue version of Whirlwind polish. I am a sucker for navy polishes, but this one does seem different enough to warrant getting it.

I will leave out my thoughts on the repromotes. I did swatch both Lovely Lily and Pandamonium, and they appeared to be identical to the previousy releases.

So, there you have it. These are just my opinions of course. Alot of things that I didn't care for on me looked awesome on the MA, who has a darker skintone. I just wasn't blown away like I thought I would be, but I am pleased with a few pieces in the collection

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Thanks Audrey. I'm disappointed to hear your take on MTF but encouraged about Illegal Cargo and the nail lacquer. I could not believe my eyes today when I walked into my local Macy's and saw an empty make-up counter that said MAC - COMING SOON!

What??!! I immediately ran over to a group of MAs from other brands and asked "Are you guys seriously getting a MAC counter?!" When they told me yes, April 30th I got so excited that the long-time Lancome MA blurted out "You don't have to get that excited!" in a hurt voice. LOL I can't believe I'll actually get to see NN and every other new collection in person the day they come out now. This store is only 30 minutes away from me and I previously had to drive 1.5 hours to my nearest store or counter. Can't wait for NN now!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

Thank you so much Audrey for your review! I am an NW15 as well so that really helped. I am still excited to see this in person but I feel like I can pass on a few things which would really help my wallet out. Now I just need to find someone to split the pigments with me!
