Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I was planning on going today and have a sneak peek but I think I'll pass since most of you have gone anyway. Initially, when looking at the MAC pics of this collection, everything looked so beautiful! But AFTER looking at the swatches, it all changed. Now I am even more convinced that I shouldn't get more than one or two things. I really want Mutiny p/m because I love colors like that. And as far as the rest goes, I am not too sure.

I don't know about other counters or stores in Toronto/GTA, but the Yonge/Bloor location at The Bay has a display out for viewing only!!! Bah, what a tease, but I'm glad to get an in-person look at everything. Submarine, gorgeous as it is, is a Freshwater dupe. Lippies I couldn't get much of a read on since I couldn't try them, but I think I'm going to pass on them anyway. Except for a sample of Mutiny pigment, I'm looking at Shore Leave and Illegal Cargo - if they're still around in a month, lol! Gotta hold on to this no-buy, but these two are nice compliments to the NN subs I already have.

In terms of the lustreglasses texture, the only one that was glittery was the hey sailor. The other three were pearly and high shine- sort of jelly looking (similar to the lipgellees) I love my love knot!

Some cool LE packaging would make this collection 10x more awesome

Especially the lippies!

I'm kind of disappointed by what I've heard about NN. I adore the concept, and I hope I like it better when I see it IRL.

So my dream about Mutiny having crappy texture was right after all??

How does the texture of Bell-bottom-blue compare to mutiny and to lovely lilly?

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I posted swatches of Mutiny in the swatch thread for Naught Nauticals and compared it with Helium at the request of a few people on LJ. In my opinion Helium is much more chunky and I like the texture of Mutiny ten times more. According to my trainer, these pigments are apart of a newer jet-milled formula MAC is doing now. I will give more information about this when I get it.

From the swatches I have seen I am totally in love with Mutiny pigment. Everything else I could take or leave but Mutiny pigment will be mine!!!

Re: Naughty Nauticals Discussion

I saw the testers yesterday at my counter and these are the standouts of the collection for me:

Nail Lacquer Shirelle (wow, it caught my eyes at first)
Pigment Mutiny (I love that lighter blue-green)
Lustreglass Hey Sailor

If you love blue-green e/s like me Mutiny will be a great alternative. It is lighter than Teal or Parrot but has an awesome finish! I think you can combine Mutiny and Bell Bottom Blue also very well.

I preordered:

Pigment Mutiny, Bell Bottom Blue, Lovely Lily
Lustreglass Hey Sailor, Ensign
Nail Lacquer Shirelle

Naughty Nauticals won't become my favourite collection, but some products are very useful for my own collection.

Mutiny Pigment - This is a beautiful pale, but bright, aqua blue. It has the same frosty look that Azreal blue does but has more green. Azreal Blue is a more silvered blue compared to this one. It is not chunky. It is not as aqua as Aquadisiac Eyeshadow, and not as bright, but I am sure that the two will look beautiful together.

Bell Bottom Blue Pigment - I was very pleasantly suprised by this one. It has the same powdery texture as the pigments from the Danse collection. The white sparkles are very obvious. It looks beautiful packed on or sheered out. It is not as dark as I thought it would be, and is definately different enough from all of the previously released blue pigments that I can think of.

Submarine Eyeshadow - This was one of the things I was most disappointed about. I was completely prepared to purchase this one, but when I swatched it next to Freshwater, it was nearly identical on me. It is VERY slightly darker. I don't wear shades this bright too often, so Freshwater is enough for me.

Ensign Lustreglass - I got this one because I felt it was perfect for summer. It is a beautiful shade of watermelon pink. Not overly pink or peach or coral.

Love Knot Lustreglass - This is the one l/g that I completely expected to get. I was looking forward to the blue duochrome, but when I swatched it, I thought that the blue duochrome was almost overpowering. It reminds me of a gloss I could get by mixing Pink Pearl pigment with clear gloss. There are definately blue/purple undertones and it definately wasn't flattering on me. The MA put it on (she is NW/NC35ish, olivetoned) and it looked amazing on her.

Hey Sailor Lustrglass - I may go back for this one. It reminds me of one of my favs, VGVI l/g. It is the least opaque of all of the l/g, but it is not sheer. There is sparkle in this one, which the others don't have. I wouldn't call it plum, but more of a rose pink. I think this one will suit a variety of skintones.

I will leave out my thoughts on the repromotes. I did swatch both Lovely Lily and Pandamonium, and they appeared to be identical to the previousy releases.

Audrey, I agree in many points with you!

For the first time I won't buy an e/s of a collection - I was very disappointed about them: I especially had more hopes for e/s Submarine and Illegal Cargo. The e/s of NN are "boring" for me - I will definitely wait for Cool Heat!!

Mutiny Pigment is just awesome, it will look beautiful with Aquadisiac or Steamy! And Bell Bottom Blue has surprised me, too.

I also agree with Lustreglass Ensign, it is a great summer color. I was sure to get Love Knot as well, but I will pass it! Instead I would recommend you to go back for l/g Hey Sailor! A very glamourous lipcolor.

Man, I was so right on the money when I said Submarine just seemed like a Freshwater dupe after all. xD I can hold off on getting Freshwater for now then to save money.

Might haul it with Cool Heat then.

But Mutiny... omgsh, I just can't wait to get to see and swatch it.. it just sounds so beautiful.

Though there are some obvious hits as I can see.. this probably won't be one of the favorite collections of the year...

I really want Love Knot, Bell Bottom Blue and maybe another lustreglass...I haven't seen any IRL yet though, so I'll reserve judgement until then

Submarine does look a lot like Freshwater, which I already own. I definitely recommend Freshwater over Submarine, the texture is just divine.

I probably only get Hey Sailor l/g from this collection. I like Mutinity too but I can never justify buying a full size pigment (well, except for Vanilla) as I never even put a dent in them...

I popped by the local Mac counter today to see if I could get a sneak peak at their NN Collection (no luck btw) and said "well, I guess I'll have to wait till Thursday" but the MAC rep said that it would actually be coming out on the 29th. Does MAC release product lines on different days depending on where you are in the country?

It should be online on the 29th, but MAC normal release day is Thursday. The 2 exceptions to that have been the day after Christmas release and the day before Valentine's Day release.

Yeah, the fact that Freshwater is Veluxe Pearl makes it all that more appealing.
