Does anyone know how Lotusland compares to Mancatcher from Lure (which I just managed to get my hands on)? Do I still need Lotusland?

personally I think lotusland is more rich in color... I passed on mancatcher but had to have lotusland...its purpley but not enough purple to make purple haters like me run and hide

After finally making it through all the posts I am now three things:

1. Paranoid about taking my empty, no-metal pan having pots to the store at Perimeter Mall (they always look at me like i just landed from from Venus, or they just ignore me)

2. Might get Smoke & Diamonds, Orpheus and Raven online instead

3. Might just work the birthday angle.

We shall see.

Thanks for all the posts, it was interesting!

I'm hoping for a pearly version of French Grey.
I may wet myself ...

Well you better have a pair of pampers on when you open your little black box
th_LMAO.gif
....you may just get your wish cause its pretty much close to being that color. FG has just a little bit more taupe & slightly darker but S&D is very close with a slight shimmer.

I totally forgot about this collection in my counting down to the Cult of Cherry collection, so I hightailed it over to Macy's to check it out. The formula of the shadows is just amazing and turns out there's jojoba oil AND olive oil. One would surmise with the oil in the products that they would crease, but NO! Amazing! I was just going to walk away with Smoke and Diamonds - the color is pretty rad. I just have other comparable colors and am trying to save for other collections. But, the MA and I got to talking about Top Hat and I was on the fence about it because it reminds me of Fertile. She said exactly the same color, but different formula. Well, I kinda doubted her, but bought it anyway. I compared the two at home and although similar, NOT THE SAME. Fertile seems to have more red in it with flecks of gold, whereas Top Hat has more blue. So...I'm keeping it

Abby is right, I have Mancatcher and definately not near LotusLand. Between the payoff, finish and overall color..

they aren't waterproof or water resistant. they can be worn on the waterline, which is where i wear it, along with my top lash line. it won't all come off if you wear it on your waterline. mine stays all day long.

think about it. waterproof/water resistant means it repels water. your waterline has water on it. if you put it there, it would repel the water, and it wouldn't stick. waterproof/water resistant products aren't approved for the waterline because of ingredients used to make it waterproof. that's why powerpoint, liquidlast and fluidline aren't approved for the waterline-because they are waterproof.

Then people won't buy the shadow because of these completely inaccurate comparisons. Erine corrects it all the time too

BTW - I own 3 Mothbrowns

Smoke & Diamonds looks like a strand of silvery grey pearls with just a hint of taupe.

Excellent description of Smoke & Diamonds!

To add my 2 cents, Smoke & Diamonds is much more shimmery than Moth Brown... but even if it weren't shimmery, Moth Brown has a pinky-purpley cast that Smoke & Diamonds doesn't have.

They are really not close at all. Smoke & Diamonds falls somewhere in between a warm gray and a taupe.

Actually, I just swatched these two and mancatcher is better, softer, better color payoff... And they are similar in color.
I don't know if I got a sucky lotusland, but mancather is so much better and I will exchange lotusland.

OMGGGG I am SO EXCITED! My dog was going nuts and I was like what the heck is with her, she only gets like that when she hears the big brown truck and lo and behold it was UPS dropping my package off even though it was scheduled for Monday! YAYAAYY.

OKAY, so when I get the rest of the colors I ordered I'll probably put up swatches since you can never have too many BUT I might do an EOTD with these this weekend and put it up if I have time. I LOVE them, they're even better than I imagined. I was so worried some would be chalky (esp Lotusland and Sunset B) by some peoples reviews but mine are so smooth and gorgeous.

Each color is soooo pigmented. Lotusland is the PERFECT shade of lavender I have been looking for for a longggg time. Top Hat truly is a pure purple with a gorgeous blueish reflect, another that I have been searching for! I find most purples reflect red and while that's pretty it's not my favorite. Sunset B is awesome too. It's a nice warm medium pink and so bright and creamy. I think it's a bit harder to find nicer pinks with good coverage and this is definitely one of them. Mink & Sable and Smoke & Diamonds? Just perfection. I can't even explain right now I'm so over the moon. I wish this was a better review and more formal than it is but I don't have much time and I just wanted to get my elation out there! lol

I wasn't even going to get many of these but they're just so wonderful and while I think some are a bit dupeable (I am rebuilding my shadow collection from scratch so I didn't own any dupes), the texture makes a difference and they're not exact replicas. Most are unique IMO. I think they will be back though, I don't see how this new finish couldn't be so hopefully my favorite colors will return as well.

I am off to email MAC with my praises and hope that these return as part of the permanent collection! =)

That's what I guessed!
Of the three, I like Smoke and Diamonds best.
I have Moth Brown, but rarely use it.
I considered Knight Divine, but decided against it.
I'm thinking that Smoke and Diamonds may be one of my all-time favorites.

LOL I get much too excited, I was afraid it was way too nonsensical and incoherent but after I wrote it out I couldn't not post it.

OK, Grand Entrance is absolutely my favorite of all of them - based on its versatility! I've used it to blend multiple colors together, as a highlight with a nice sheen without over-the-top reflection, as a wash (REALLY cool), and wet (with a shadow transformer) as an upper lid liner. I'm definitely getting a spare tomorrow. I thought this one would have been my least favorite (how many more neutral shadows do I need?) but I have to say I'm impressed.

So, I'm thinking about swining by MAC today and getting a couple of these (4 max) and I'm wondering which are the ones that I NEED out of this that are the least dupable?

Well, I am trying to catch up with this thread! I did hit MAC yesterday as well as sending my DH to a F/S store in TO that accepts the depotted pots for B2M. I ended up getting Bold & Brazen, Glamour Check, Grand Entrance, Mink and Sable and Smoke & Diamonds (all B2M) and I myself picked up Sunset B, Dreammaker and Top Hat.

I found the finish on these to be just amazing, they felt almost creamy! I did not swatch Lotusland, so cannot comment on that. I didn't find Sunset B to swatch chalky at all, but have not tried it on yet so I'll have to report back on that one as it seems some people are finding it a little dry. But the colour was just too beautiful to pass up!

I know there's been some talk of the possibility that these become permanent, and I sincerely hope they do.

Rbella, good for you for having the willpower to skip these and I really do hope that you can get your hands on them later on. At the end of the day, it's really just make-up. There will be a point where I'll have to seriously take a break and I think it's going be soon!

I was pleasantly surprised with Glamour Check and Bold & Brazen. Smoke & Diamonds is also incredibly gorgeous, probably my favourite silvery shade that MAC has come out with. It's partly personal preference, because there is a wide range of shades to choose from. If you like teals, Talent Pool is beautiful as well.
