Thanks for the pics! I'm now reconsidering whether I need this. I have Just Add Colour and, while I like it very much, it seems a lot more opaque. I guess I was hoping for the same sort of coverage. It reminds me of one a more pigmented version of one of the Fafi lipglasses (I can't remember which one).

I can't remember who it was, but whoever told me to take pics with my broken camera anyway, thank you. I actually got some decent shots!

Thanks to everyone who tried to comfort me about my broken camera! I'm getting a new one tomorrow. I was second in line and the woman in front of me was super nice and talkative. She is new to Mac so she asked me about stuff and that kept me from crying. I was literally about to cry.

I got: Resort Life lipgelee, Cajun cooling powder, Vile Violet shadow, Strange Potion lipglass, Dark Deed, Heartless, Violetta and Toxic Tale lipstick and Formidable nail polish. It's all love.

Resort Life: How did I miss this? I bought another of these sparkly lipgelee's from lillyland and hated it. I guess that's why I didn't bother checking out any others. I thought this was going to be some sorta clear sparkly mess that maybe I can control and put over a nude lipstick. WRONG! This thing is gorgeous on it's own. Tons of shimmer, but guess what? There was no mess when I removed it. Gorgeous and there's a subtle pinky champagne touch added to the lips.

Cajun Cooling Powder: So effin' cool. Can't believe I considered passing this up. I think I coulda rocked T&L but this one is prettier to me and it doesn't seem bronzy. I was afraid of that b/c I hate bronzer. It adds a sheen. I wouldn't use this to set my make up, but to highlight. And the cooling sensation is orgasmic
lol.gif
. Seriously. Just dipping your finger in it is an experience!

Vile Violet: Very, very nice and exactly as it is shown in other online swatches. It's a blue leaning purple. A nice and unique addition to my collection. Not much else to say.

Dark Deed: So glad I got this. It swatched nicely. I had to go in my memory bank to see that I don't have a color this deep. It's a stunning, sophisticated fall shade. Better than any lippie in Fab Felines

Hearltess: My least fave of what I got. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty, but red isn't exciting me like it once did. Swatched on the hand it looks exactly like Brave Red, but surprisingly, BR is brighter on my lips. Hearltess is like a muted cherry. Still pretty and I'm glad I have it, though.

Violetta: We all know about this!
lol.gif

Toxic Tale: My baby! The shade that had me foaming at the mouth did not disappoint! This is wearable! It is not as bright in person as you may think, although it can be built up that way! It's just gorgeous and sets off the face. At the preview I saw the palest of the pale and the darkest of the dark wearing this and it was gorgeous on all; big and thin lips. I will try to resist a backup. No promises.

Strange Potion: This will get backed up! Holy cow! I actually considered passing b/c the way it swatched. It got all in the lines of my hand and I got nervous. No worries, though b/c it is gorgeous on the lips. A peachy, pinky face brightening coral. Total love.

Formidable: Stunning. It crept up on me at the last minute. Last night, perhaps. You all know the shade with teal and different colored shimmer. I think it's almost a polish version of Dark Deed. If you wear these two at the same time it'll be kick ass.

Other impressions: Briar Rose tempted me. The mua dusted this on my cheek lightly. It was pretty, but nothing that I can't do with On a Mission (lightly) or Azalea Blossom. On fair skin it's a go, but on me it could get ashy very quickly! In the pics I post soon, I am wearing it in all of them.

Wicked Ways I skipped due to red burnout and the fact that I have one full tube of Cult of Cherry and one with just a little bit left. This is the best red lipglass since CoC in my opinion so if you are out of CoC then be sure to get this!

Sinister is gross. I lvoe lustre's but this is the worst kind. Swatched like dirty water and took forever to get a decent color.

Nail Laquers the green one just wasn't my thing. The red one was pretty, but it seemed really sheer. They just paled in comparison to Formidable, IMO.

Darkly My Dear and other Beauty Powders I just was not interested. Not for my skin. Darkly My Dear wouldn't even excite me if I was still in my dark blush phase. Pass.

Innocence, Beware is interesting. It didn't swatch all nasty and pasty like I expected. Still not for me and would require to much work to get it right, but it's a good lipstick for skintones that can pull it off.

French Quarter was disappointing. It was nice, but didn't set my heart on fire. It was just like dirty silver shimmer instead of some kind of green I was expecting. Smokey eye girls, get it. The rest of us may not find much use for it.

The MES is of course something I cannot wear, but both are gorgeous. My personal fave is the green one.

That cruella gloss, the goldish one was ok. Nothing remarkable.
The rest of the shadows were blah. I have coppering so no need for vainglorious.

The event: I was upset Maleficent was not there! Ugh! I didn't even bother taking a pic. It was cute, though but I was bitter. They had some little drink going around. It looked pretty, but didn't taste pretty. The tasty bits of food satisfied. It was a madhouse. I had my paper filled out for all my items and the lady only came back with 3! She wasn't even bombarded by people. Go figure.

Edit to say Bite of an Apple underwhelmed me, thankfully. All the coral blushes I have are more than enough for me to skip this!

Could you tell me more about Resort Life and Devishly Stylish (compare/contrast). I like the look of both and I want a nude gloss and Im trying to decide which one I should preorder tomorrow. TIA!

Completely agreed! I hope everyone had a blast tonight and was able to get their goodies, and managed to survive all the craziness! LOL.

And I'm definitely someone who thoroughly appreciates all the effort people go to in order to get swatches and photos of everything for everyone else here. Even in this day & age of computers everywhere and phones attached to every little electronic device, it still takes time and effort to actually do all of it. So a big THANK YOU to all that snap pix like crazy and post 'em up here A.S.A.P. for all us make-up obsessed wingnuts to scrutinize! Your efforts are not in vain, and we appreciate it all!

I particularly am appreciative right now of the girls who went to the Toronto parties. I was all signed up and ready to hit the Eaton Centre for tonight's shindig, but I wound up getting my *ahem* period a lil' earlier than scheduled, and decided that since I tend to hate pushy crowds on a good day, it probably wouldn't have been a great idea to enter the madness when I'm in cranky crampage hell

The main difference to me is that Resort Life is hard to dupe. I think you can find a DS anywhere, even in previous Mac collections. It's just like a sheer, shimmery pale gold. Resort life is a pinky champagne with tons of shimmer. It does add a faint bit of color but the shimmer is a standout w/o being obnoxious and it's not sticky at all. I think I'm getting a backup of this. It's like something you can wear when you want a little less color on the lip w/o it being boring.

Edit to say if you want something more nude then get DS. It's way more subdued.

Thank you both! Resort Life sounds really interesting. I think my list is finalized now.

I didn't even glance at Resort Life at the event today, and now you're all making me want it!

That was me and I'm so glad it worked out for you! When my camera's screen broke it was just this weird burst of crackled color that obscured 90% of the display screen but none of the internal stuff was damaged so I used it for a while anyway until I could afford a new one.

Thanks a lot, Cody! I could only see like a faint green line going down one side. I just had to take as many shots as possible. At least I am familiar enough with the camera to be able to gauge when I got something decent.

Someone mentioned awhile back that the red gloss was jelly-like. Is that still true or no?

Not the red one (wicked ways), but Revenge is Sweet is jelly-like. I forgot to mention that one in my review. It's jelly-like and very sheer. Cannot hold a candle to sweet strawberry. I don't even understand the comparisons.

Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion

Hey all!

I'm a rather new makeup lover and I haven't experienced one of MAC's limited collections before. There are a lot of items I want from this collection and I want to make sure I can get them all. Could someone answer a few questions for me please? (I'm in Canada btw)

Are the MAC counters in The Bay getting this collection, or only freestanding stores? What day will the collection be available to buy at the counters/stores? Is the collection out on display right now so I can plan out what I want? Can I pre-order items in person somehow? Should I plan to be at the store when they open that day, or will I still be able to easily get everything if I go in the evening?

Sorry I have so many questions! I'm very excited for this collection though and I don't want to miss out on anything!

I'm really really hoping this will be at the counters too because to get to a free standing store, I'd have to take a bus at 5am for about an hour, catch a train for another hour, walk a fair distance and then catch the subway. A rather expensive and stressful trip.

This collection will officially be available at the Bay and freestanding stores on September 30th in Canada, and online on the 28th most likely. You may want to phone your closest Bay counter and get them to set items aside for you if you're set on something specific because there are concerns of popular items selling out very fast. I phoned the Bay closest to me yesterday and reserved a few items. They'll also be scheduling make-overs coinciding with the launch where you get an hour with one of the make-up artists and just have to commit to a $50 product purchase (or at least it's that much in Alberta).

Re: MAC - Venomous Villains discussion

I'm not sure if you guys want more reviews or not, because it seems like everybody already gave awesome and detailed reviews, but... I'll just do it anyway
cutey.gif

I didn't look at all the products, because Beauty Powders and Nail Polishes don't interest me, but I'll just tell you what stuck out to me most
smiles.gif

Strange Potion l/g - LOVE! I'm NC35 and this gloss really brightens my face up! (Actually, my friend was the one who said this, but I completely agree). It doesn't even need to be worn over a lipstick to look lovely
thmbup.gif

Bite of an Apple Blush - I think this is what I wanted Hipness blush to look on me. Pigmentation is nice, but not the best I've seen so far.
Edit: I forgot to mention that my friend, who is around NC40 or something (she wears Medium Dark MSFN if that helps) tried this blush and oh my, it really really looks so gorgeous on her! I was a bit jealous because it looked better on her than on me. But i still love it anyway
yes.gif

Wicked Ways l/g - You know... I wish I have the gut to wear red lips, because I'd get this in a heartbeat. It's really lovely and it made me sad not getting this one, but I know it's the right thing to do since I'll probably wear it once or twice a year or something
ssad.gif

MES - These things are HUGE! It doesn't make sense to me why they didn't make Style Black MES this big before. The price and quality are basically the same too.

I tried on other stuff too but nothing stuck out to me, so I won't write about them.

Here's a comparison picture of Bite of an Apple and Hipness blush. Somehow the camera washed the colors out a bit. They look deeper/pinker IRL.

Hope that helps!

Welcome to the world of MAC! I'm in Canada as well, so I can answer some of your questions. Yes, The Bay will be getting this collection. New collections usually go on display and for sale on Thrusdays, so Sept 30. However, you can try to go the day before and ask for specific items - I've done this before. Depending on your luck, whoever's working may sell them to you because they should have them in the drawers by then, and they should scan into the system. The most wanted items may sell out by night time on Thursday (Bite of an Apple, Toxic Tale). I'm not sure if The Bay does pre-orders, you can always call and ask.

Good luck and have fun!
