Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

^^^ I have never been able to use the 190 for my foundation...just never worked for me...lol at the CVS...yes they should have samples out...because WE will make one if not...the sad part is people will try a color and it works and they never take the bottle they tried, they leave that for someone else...so weird that is...

Go to Ulta--they have testers for the DS brands. If you don't have an Ulta coupon, then try it out there and go to the DS where it is cheaper.

I've tried and returned nearly all the colors except the darker ones. I'm NC25, yellow-olive, and found that:

BUFF: too light, just a smidge though. Gives a very grey cast on me. Slightly peachy, but not by much.

SAND BEIGE: idk how so many NC25s love this on MUA, it is PURE PEACH on me! The overall shade is not that bad but there's a noticeable peach cast and my face looks kinda 80's ish with it on.

NATURAL BEIGE + FRESH BEIGE: Peach peach peach. Those were both a definite no.

GOLDEN BEIGE: probably the one with the most yellow in it. A little too dark for me now but I could see myself using this in the summer when I'm around NC30-35. I'll have to see then.

WARM GOLDEN: red orange undertones

TRUE BEIGE: peach city!

NUDE + MEDIUM BEIGE: those weren't too bad, not that peachy or orange but I felt they were just way too neutral on my skin and made me look a little dead, even after using bronzer.

After that frustration I decided to give it another shot and just mix two colors. I waited til Walgreen's had a buy 1 get 1 free sale and purchased Buff and Natural Tan. I was able to get a pretty close match but the peachyness was still there. However not nearly as pronounced as the other ones I've tried in the line. I do think I should have chosen Rich Tan instead as it seemed more yellow, and Natural Tan seems to bring out peach tones when mixed with Buff. So I'll probably return them both next week and try one last time with Rich Tan.

I really love the formula, coverage, and staying power of this foundation but it was just too hard and too frustrating trying to find a shade for my light,yellow-olive Latina skin. Thank goodness for Walgreens and they're frequent BOGO sales on this!

Another plus with this foundation, at least in my experience, is that it prolongs the wear of anything you put over it, like a primer. My blush, concealer, and bronzer lasted as long as the foundation did! I was really impressed with that.

Oh I should mention, all the shades I tried were for Oily/Combo skin

I'm in the exact same boat as you, NC25 with yellow toned skin. I'm afraid of anything too light, too pink or too peachy. Did you find a correct shade finally by mixing?

@rarity: To be completely honest, not really. Mixing Buff with a teensy amount of Toast was pretty close. The shade was close enough to my skin tone and wearable, but I'm pretty picky with foundation and have to have one that matches my skin.

I think the main issue is that Buff has slight pink undertones to it. Not much, but as a yellow toned gal it's noticeable (to me, anyway). I think no matter how much mixing I do with Buff it will be very slightly peachy.

I still hold out hope for Golden Beige as my tan is starting to come on. When I re-try Golden Beige, I'll report back!

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

So I just picked this up last night and let me tell you was it a trip trying to pick the right color. I saw the master chart on here but so many people stated this and that so I wrote down the top three and kept going back and fourth on which one to grab..quite the difference in color for oily vs. dry skin foundation IMO.

But after about 30 mins I finally just grabbed one and left with it. And it is the winner, GOLDEN BEIGE is literally a PERFECT match for my skin. I'm an NC30 in MAC's SFF.

The Colorstay foundation goes on so smoothly and gives such a soft subtle look..so far so good but it's only been 3 hrs and haven't been running around much at work..I will check back in at the end of the day to let you know how it goes.

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

I stopped by my Walgreens this week and they the rich ginger (or warm ginger i cant remember. its the one right before caramel) and 3 colors darker than caramel all marked down. I dont remember the names of the darker colors. They were all 3 dollars and some change! I'm mad because caramel wasn't marked down, but check out your local Walgreens. I don't know if it was just that particular store.

Still loving this! I don't even reach for my Studio Sculpt anymore. This does so much more for me and it doesn't fade in the heat. So glad I have an extra bottle waiting for me when I finish this one! I'll probably pick up more when the next BOGO sale hits a drug store :)

Caramel. That's the one I have.

I lucked up at Walgreens and bought one with the "last chance" orange sticker. (I love those damm stickers!) I have the combo/oily formula because I usually have combo skin, but I haven't been drinking enough water and my skin has been dry lately.
It mattes the skin very well. Almost too good because my skin looked really dry. Again, it could just be lack of hydration on my part. I'll try the normal formula. Overall I have no regrets with this product.

So for my after-lunch-walk I decided to go to Walgreens, and guess what?

The combo/oily forumula is on sale for $3!!!! Go stock up. The sales clerk said they're being discontinued.
