Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation
Hrmph. All these shades are peachy! Grrrr. The old version of Colorstay wasn't like this.
I've tried and returned nearly all the colors except the darker ones. I'm NC25, yellow-olive, and found that:
BUFF: too light, just a smidge though. Gives a very grey cast on me. Slightly peachy, but not by much.
SAND BEIGE: idk how so many NC25s love this on MUA, it is PURE PEACH on me! The overall shade is not that bad but there's a noticeable peach cast and my face looks kinda 80's ish with it on.
NATURAL BEIGE + FRESH BEIGE: Peach peach peach. Those were both a definite no.
GOLDEN BEIGE: probably the one with the most yellow in it. A little too dark for me now but I could see myself using this in the summer when I'm around NC30-35. I'll have to see then.
WARM GOLDEN: red orange undertones
TRUE BEIGE: peach city!
NUDE + MEDIUM BEIGE: those weren't too bad, not that peachy or orange but I felt they were just way too neutral on my skin and made me look a little dead, even after using bronzer.
After that frustration I decided to give it another shot and just mix two colors. I waited til Walgreen's had a buy 1 get 1 free sale and purchased Buff and Natural Tan. I was able to get a pretty close match but the peachyness was still there. However not nearly as pronounced as the other ones I've tried in the line. I do think I should have chosen Rich Tan instead as it seemed more yellow, and Natural Tan seems to bring out peach tones when mixed with Buff. So I'll probably return them both next week and try one last time with Rich Tan.
I really love the formula, coverage, and staying power of this foundation but it was just too hard and too frustrating trying to find a shade for my light,yellow-olive Latina skin. Thank goodness for Walgreens and they're frequent BOGO sales on this!
Another plus with this foundation, at least in my experience, is that it prolongs the wear of anything you put over it, like a primer. My blush, concealer, and bronzer lasted as long as the foundation did! I was really impressed with that.
Oh I should mention, all the shades I tried were for Oily/Combo skin
