sooo.. i picked up some natural tan 330 over the weekend and mixed some into my golden beige 300. (natural tan alone is too dark for me)

about 3/4 golden beige
and 1/4 natural tan

it looks pretty good.. ill be posting pics MUCH later tonite when im by my home computer (im procrastinating at school up on specktra!! hehe).

question.. *is warm golden 310 supposed to be yellower than golden beige? or pinker? if so, ill just buy that in the future and forget about mixing.. any nc37's with warm golden310?

Has anyone tried applying this with a sponge? All this talk of brushes getting stained is starting to worry me lol....I haven't tried this out yet....need to figure out which of the colors (if any) that I bought work best for my skintone.

^I don't like using sponges to apply foundation since you have to throw them away after a few uses. I use a stippling brush (by Sonia Kashuk) to apply this foundation. I'm about half way through my first bottle right now and will end up buying another one for the Oily/Combination since my skin gets so oily during the summer.

Either I need a special Sponge technique or they just don't work for me .....they give me a blotchy uneven finish...I prefer the finish of a brush.....If the foundation stained my brush I would just use a good less expensive stippling brush that I dedicated for foundation only so if it stained I would be okay with it....As long as it is clean I don't really care about the color...But again mine did not stain.

Haha, yeah I don't usually like to apply foundation with a sponge either. I generally use my 190. I was just wondering, though

It works well with a sponge but sometimes it applies too heavily. If your sponge is damp before you apply this foundation, it won't look as thick. Either way, when I use a sponge I have to go back and blend with a kabuki in order to fill in my pores. The sponge application makes them appear a little more obvious than when using a brush.

On another note, can anyone recommend a higher end foundation that has similar coverage and staying power as Colorstay? Even with all the mixing I'm doing, I can't get a good enough color match. It gives a slightly ashy cast to my face no matter what I do. Nothing by MAC please, most of their foundations break me out and I haven't been very satisfied with them otherwise

TIA!

Sponges never work for me either! I'm interested in trying the Sonia Kashuk blending sponge, though. I guess I don't really care if the color of my brush was altered (as long as it still performed well), but investing in a less expensive foundation brush to apply this might be smart

I would like to know that too! I had the same problem with color matching. I looked online and Chanel, Lancome and EL have long lasting foundations. So I went and got samples on Friday but they are all too peachy. Why is it so hard to find yellow toned foundations?

I ended up getting MUFE Face and Body. Today is the first day I wore it and it seems OK so far but it doesn't have as much coverage as I need and it's hard to put on. I have to wear it some more before I can give a review.

I've been wanting the 190 Foundation Brush for a long time!! The MUA at Nordstrom was using it on my face to apply the Studio Fix Fluid when I was getting colormatched. I will surely get that brush soon.

You should! I don't think it's everyone's fave, but I like it a lot. I kind of stipple on my foundation with this brush and it works out pretty well.

I agree not many people like the 190 brush but i love it! It works great with my skin and when I want to add a little more coverage on my acne scars I just stipple it on my scar and set the foundation with blot powder. I havent had any problems with the foundation staining my brushes. As for color match thanks to someone on this thread I now have perfect color match by mixing Nude and Golden Beige (NC25/30.)

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

after reading all of the reviews i did the bogo at cvs and i love this foundation! the color range is so much better than mac where i am NW30, but could wear NC40 too. if anyone is in between like me and not yellow but also not too peach the color's are great, i am wearing natural tan right now and it is a perfect match. i also got rich tan for the summer. my NW30 always had a little too much peach in it. yay for colorstay!

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

I prefer using my fingers to apply the foundation because it's the fastest and easiest method for me to achieve the right coverage with minimal wastage of foundation.

And I agree that the color range tends to have more red than yellow undertones. Buff, Sand Beige and Golden Beige all look slightly pinkish on my face but that's easily corrected with a light dusting of my MMU over Revlon Colorstay. However, I'm willing to overlook this because of its incredible staying power, coverage and the peace of mind I get when I'm wearing it. I feel confident that my flaws are covered until I remove my makeup and I don't have to keep checking the mirror during the course of the day to see if I need to touch up.

My 187 got stained from this foundation....oh well.

TISH where did you buy your brush cleaner?

I've noticed that a lot of the shades had a lot of pink in them also. It's okay though. It doesn't make a huge difference in the color.

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

I use Fresh Beige in the Normal/dry and I'm a C35 in Studio Fix. The Fresh Beige is a tad lighter but it's the best match since the other shades were a lot pinkier. It's good for the winter but in the summer when I get a bit darker I can't get away with Fresh Beige then.

Colorstay really stays on all day and it doesn't oxidize but I have to say I find that I have to give my face a break after some use because for me, it can be a bit heavy. Not that it's uncomfortable or mask like but I am normally a light coverage kind of gal. So I only use Colorstay when I feel like I want the extra coverage.

What color did you get? I'm NW45/NC50 and I got the Cappuccino in the Dry-Normal formula. I really like the color but I'm curious about others.

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

^^^^ NW45. I usually don't have issues with finding the right foundation shade but I am with this. Caramel is too yellow and cappuccino looks too dark in the bottle (in oily formula). Someone posted a chart with MAC and equivalents to Revlon CS and it recommended rich ginger, but there was no way a dark complexion could wear that shade... Please help!
