I've gone back to using studio tech now which to be honest I like just as much if not more.

I took this foundation off with my Clairsonic facial brush and the foundation totally stained the brush head. I tried to get it off but I ended up having to change out the brush head instead.

Besides that I really like this foundation. The color matches me much better than SFF ever did and it REALLY lasts all day. I hardly ever have to blot which is so nice. I am NW15 in MAC and I am wearing Ivory.

Re: Revlon Color Stay Foundation

I'm Chinese, in my mid-forties, with NC20-ish skin (predominantly yellow undertone with some redness on my cheeks, nose and chin) and I use Buff #140 in the Combination/Oily formula and found it to be an excellent color match. I also have fairly oily skin in my T-zone, large pores on my cheeks and some old scars and discoloration.

This foundation works wonderfully as both concealer and foundation and gives a natural skin-like finish. I've had flawless results applying it with either my fingers, a stippling/skunk brush or an artist squirrel mop brush, depending on my mood.

I think the key to achieving good coverage without the caked-on look with this foundation is a very light touch and to only apply as many layers on the blemish/flaw as you need to just cover it.

I first apply a light layer of foundation on my entire face and then to get complete coverage of my scars/redness/discoloration, I just stipple onto those areas another two light layers of foundation. I then set my foundation with some silica powder. The end result still looks like my own skin rather than a thick layer of skin-colored spackle sitting on top of my flaws.

What impresses me most about this foundation is the coverage and the transfer-resistance. I often wear this for more than 10 hours at a stretch, including working out for 2 hours (running, weights, dripping sweat from every pore), and I can attest to this foundation's lastingness. Truly.

As for removal, it comes off easily with a few drops of my grape seed and rice bran oil mixture which I then wash off with my face and body wash.

I have to admit, albeit reluctantly, that after being a mineral makeup devotee (I make my own MMU and have enough supplies to last me 10 years) for 3 years, I've never been able to achieve as good a coverage and as long-wearing a foundation as Revlon Colorstay's. In fact, Revlon Colorstay looks so much more natural and skin-like in finish than MMU which tends to look powdery if I try to layer it. I think MMU works best for those who don't need a lot of coverage and have few flaws to conceal. I'm now a Revlon Colorstay convert.

And for those of you who find Revlon Colorstay too pricey (rrp in Australia is about AU$37.95 and about AU$20 online), try Rimmel Lasting Finish 16Hr Mineral Enriched Foundation. It is an excellent dupe and at a fraction of the cost.

I use Rimmel Lasting Finish 16Hr Foundation in Ivory #100. It is just a touch darker than Revlon Colorstay's Buff when comparing swatches on a piece of white stock card but the difference is not noticeable when applied on my face. Performance-wise, they are comparable and I use them both interchangeably.

I hope this helps someone.

Tips for people who did not like revlon:
-Don't use too much product because you really need very little to cover your entire face. Using more than just the right amount will make you look like you caked on your foundation.
-Use a good brush... I didn't like applying with my 187 because it just didn't give me the right coverage.
I recommend using a foundation brush like the one from essence of beauty [dual sided brush with foundation at one end and concealer at the other]. It's perfect for revlon colorstay. it also enables you to really buff the foundation onto your face.
-Buff Buff Buff, seriously buffing makes a huge difference.
The problem I had was that after initial application, the foundation will start to lift off of my face, making it look like I have a mask on. So the solution to that was buffing.

I hope this helped

Oh and for reference, I wear golden beige and I'm NC 30

I use the combo/oily one... haven't tried normal/dry so can't vouch for that one.

I tried the golden beige and it looked too light for my skin and I'm NC30. It may be because I'm NC30 in studio sculpt and that foundation runs a little darker I think.

I ended up getting warm golden and golden caramel. I think if I mix them it'll be a good match.

I'm NC30 and wearing fresh beige in oily/combo---too light!!
I guess golden beige is below this? Bah, it's $20 here in Canada. I wish it was cheaper like the US! I'd better pick up a bottle of golden beige before I go to my boyfriend's grad.

But yes, I love this foundation too. Decent staying power, doesn't cake up, and doesn't smear all over boyfriend's clothes and my cellphone.

But it isn't intense enough to totally cover acne scars...unless you really pay attention to the area and layer it (I have pretty bad undereye circles and some scarring).

LOVE it with my 187 brush.

For removal, I *always* use oil first (olive oil, coconut oil, whatever), followed by a cleanser, and then some toner to make sure it's all off.
I break out a little if I don't do this. It seems like a lot but really takes me under 5 minutes.

Hey, you guys back off from the Colorstay! Soon the sales clerk at Walgreens would be telling me it's made by the same co. that makes MAC like the lady at the costume store said of Ben Nye and charge me $2 more...

No I think she is saying if we all start buying Revlon ...they will Jack the price up and their explanation for raising the price will be "it's more expensive because it is made by the same company as MAC" which we all know is a lie...but they use any excuse when they raise the prices to try and justify it...even if it's a lie

I just wonder if maybe I can mix it with another color what would you ladies recommend?

Hey! I'm in the exact same situation as you and I have been mixing a touch of nude 200 into golden beige and it's perfect! Then you can set it with a powder that matches until you tan again! HTH

I would say no. I think it's a medium to full coverage but I don't think it will cover heavy scarring.

I'm a nc37 and I bought both the natural tan and golden beige (they were on sale in target for $7!) I found that natural tan is a little dark, but golden beige is a little too red for me. So I mix them up a little bit and get the perfect shade!
