MAC Hey, Sailor! (Summer 2012) Discussion

This collection is keeping my wallet safe. I don't wear navy or bright green liners or shadows, red or orange lips or cheeks, or bronzers. I do own one bronzer - Guerlain 4 Seasons Tailor-Made in Blondes - which is so absolutely fantastic, it makes me wish i liked wearing bronzer, and it will doubtless last me for years. And i have what i think are enough yellow and gold eye shadows.

The only things i want to even test are the Saunter lip pencil (still looking for one that matches my lip color), the Handforged liner pencil (probably have a dupe already), and the High-Light Powder.

The Body Oils sound lovely, especially Seaside, but i keep myself pretty much covered up from the sun, so i have no real use for them, plus around here it isn't really warm enough for much exposure: everyone complains when it gets to be 75 F.

It's a GOOD thing for me there's a big MAC collection with nothing i desperately want. I really need to save a little money :)

Just remember, you're usually not putting bronzer all over your cheeks anyhow. I get red cheeks in the summer and I love just using a little bronzer with a duo-fiber brush (for a light application) from the ears inwards under the cheekbones and then using what's left on the brush all around the temples, down the outer sides of the face, a little on the forehead nearer to the brow line and then lastly, a swipe on the nose. It actually makes the red cheeks look cute instead of blotchy. I don't even bother with foundation first - just plenty of moisturizer over a good serum.

Okay I have called my Mac 5 times since making the appointment for the collections events and every last one of the mua all say the same to me that the event is on the April 25th and Hey sailor will be there so I guess I shall have to see what happens next week. The green pencil is really pretty I wonder what it will look like in person.

This seems correct, considering that the collection will be released on 4/24. Enjoy the event.

Considering it's not smart to get sun on your face, bronzer is the way to go and nowadays, the formulas are so much better. They don't look heavy like foundation or powder and only give a very subtle hint of color to the face.



One thing about getting a bronzing makeover. Try and pick a MA who already has a natural look on his or her own face to do it. I've had plenty of friends who never wear face products go get makeovers from MAs who go for a heavy look on themselves and come out with too drastic a transition, which turns them off entirely. Also, call me biased if you want, but I find that I'm in better hands with either male MAs or older women who go in for the natural look, because they are usually the most drawn to using makeup as a subtle illusion or for a sculptural effect.

it's strange cos i really like her looks and she really is a beautiful girl. She does amazing eyes and is creative. I don't know what happened with this bronze look. She was a MAC artist and she now is a teacher and a model (If i'm not wrong). She's got style, but 3 layers of foundation (tinted moist, fix fluid, studio fix) then 2 bronzers..... it's a lil eccessive specially when we need our skin to be lighter in summer. I'm confused, but it might just me a "bad contour day"

I would of guessed she was from Jersey (pffft for all I know that could be South) so dont mind me if I sound like an idiot!
no more room in my head for anything other than makeup!
