Has anyone been to a MAC job fair? I just noticed that there are a bunch of them coming up at some stores nearby and I am wondering what to expect. I don't have any cosmetic experience but I do know A LOT about MAC products just on my own research (because I am obsessed with the brand) and I have a lot of customer service and some retail though. Any tips or advice would be appreciated on the job fair process.

I am also excited to use all my new Archie's Girls make up for these! :D

I have the same question as Kirsten. Is it okay to go to different MAC Career Fairs? There's a few coming up and I was wondering if I could attend all of them to gain more experience in the interviewing process?.

Thanks!

I'm new here! I'm not sure if this thread is still active but I need some help :) I was recently at the M.A.C counter and the lady walked over and complimented me on my makeup :) little did I know she was the 2nd key :) so she handed me an app and asked me to apply as a freelance. If I get an interview what will the Demo consist of? I'm so nervous about it. As I have seen where other people has stated they failed it? Please help!

Hi! Well i Am just hired and so The demo is freshly in my Brain. Mine was like 30 minutes. They gave me 3 completely different facecharts, and i had to chose The one that matched my model the best. Don't play safe, take The hardest one, they Will admire it. During The aplication i Needed to act like my model was a customer And i had to explain everything i did. After The make up they gave me 5 minutes to chose 2 products to make my make up look more creative with my own inspiration. And basicly that was it. They do Asked questions like how do you see a nude make up look? What inspires you and so. Hope it helped you a bit!

They mostly look for motivated people, motivation wins over skills!

Hello everyone!

I have a few questions about the interview with the MAC freestanding store. I just got a call today from the hiring manager for an interview that will take place in a month from now. I am a free-lance artist but never worked for a company. They are hiring for both a freelance and a store MUA.

What should I expect?
What are some of the questions that will be asked of me?
What are they generally looking for?
What is the demo like?
How long is the demo, is it timed?
What should I talk about, besides product or brand knowledge?

etc...

They told me to dress professionally black from head to toe with makeup and hair done. And they will supply brushes for me. I am nervous because I don't know what to expect. Any helpful hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

On another note, I had a Sephora interview today at JCP that went okay. For SCC or PC positions. I think I could of done a better job but I did feel comfortable. I thought the questions were vague but I did provide my professional personal experiences answering them.

Either way, I hope I can get in!

Hello all, newbie here!
I had my 1st interview with a MAC regional recruiter here in the DMV area with Homa on April 3rd. I past that first part and she was pretty awesome, and blunt. I'm pretty much a self taught makeup lover, and pick up a lot just by viewing videos, reading online forums, and following tutorials. This, throughout many years, taught me to become an inspired makeup artist! :) So my interview with Homa went pretty smoothly, but i was super nervous. It was a "Job Fair" in her office at Greenbelt, MD. I'm assuming that this is where the training facility is as well i saw a room filled with MAC makeup while i was waiting to be interviewed. To be completely honest i thought this "job fair" was actually meeting with others and important people within the company, but i didn't want to be unprepared so i came with my cover letter as well as my resume. The fair started at 10am and it was supposed to last till 1pm, i walked in with my face done in tip top shape(my profile picture). Looked the part with all black clothing, simple, but fashionable as well. The only downfall i had was my shoes, it was a no heel tap dance like shoe, Homa expected heels. When i went in the suite, her assistant as me if i was here for the interview, i said "sure, i'm assuming that's what it is..." She told me to sign in and have a seat, while i was there 5 other girls were sitting amongst me waiting as well. I can hear Homa with 2 other girls inside her office, and i waited for about 20 minutes until my name was called. At the end of the interview before me Homa said to them if we're interested we will give you ladies a call back soon. Next up, was this other girl, and i. We went into the office and she asked us if we wanted to be full time, or a freelancer. We both answered full time, and she asked what locations we wanted to be working at. Gave our answers, and then proceeded. Homa asked us about our retail experience, and asked us how much make-up experience we had, if we had professional schooling, and what we would bring to the company. After that, she asked us to rate our make-up abilities from 1-5, i said a 4 and she asked why, the other girl also said 4. We were then asked to critique each other make-up, Homa told us her end as well. She said she thought that both of us would be great, and our make-up was really good. She just told me that a darker shadow on me looks like i have no whites in my eyes from a far, and that i need a brighter color lipstick, other than that she said everything else was perfect. BLEND BLEND BLEND, is what she told the other girl and her red liner was boring her. She said that her red lips were a good color, but needs to be very clean and precise. Red lips stand out and must be done correct to look amazing she said. After that she said well, i like you both a lot! So i want to invite you both back for a make-up demo interview. Homa told the other girl that unfortunately she was not in her region so she will have trainers come out to that suite to do her make-up interview that friday! Which was 2 days away... I was like =0. She told me that she will call me back to set up my interview time because she needs to gather trainers to evaluate me. I was scared that meant i won't be getting a call back. Then again, i realize since she is pretty straight forward, she wouldn't be lying. So she said make sure we practice, and be on point with our blending, she explained some scenarios they might throw at us, so i was appreciating the tip. She said good luck, and i hope to see you soon! "Samantha, you will be hearing from me, so don't get scared if i don't call back soon as you think." So the waiting game begins, i told myself i would give her a week, if not i will be calling back. Surely enough, on April 11th she called me and asked me if i was still interested, well a duh! lol So she told me she had a couple openings with dates and times. Homa asked if i prefer Tysons Corner or Fair Oaks, and i said Fair Oaks, then she said okay well i have this and this day, and this and this time. Finally, i told her the 24th at 2PM. Let's pray this goes by well! :) Wish me luck ladies, now it's time to practice, practice, practice! Ahh i'm so nervous, any tips for those who work out here in the East Coast within Homa's district? Please and thank you all!

I'm new to the forum! Hello everyone! (Sorry my post is so long!) Recently I was shopping at my local MAC (located inside the Bay, only one in my city). And the manager was ringing me through, she asked me "Why do you look so familiar?!" I laughed and said "probably because I'm here constantly!" To which she replied "well why don't you work here then?" I was a little stunned and asked if they were hiring to which she replied yes and asked if I wanted to take an application. Which obviously I did. Fast forward a few days, I filled out the application and wrote out my cover letter, dressed myself in all black and did a full face of makeup and went to MAC, luckily the girl who was working happens to be the girl who usually is the one helping me. I walked up and she greeted me "Hey hon, what brings you in today?" I asked if there was a manager to which she said "the manager and assistant manager are off today, but I'm the third key.. Are you handing in your resume?" I said yes and she said "oh good, I was just telling another girl I hoped you'd apply since you're always here, I can take your resume and I'll make sure the manager gets it tomorrow!" I gave her all my stuff thanked her and left. This was only yesterday so I'm not freaking out yet. But my question is, I have no experience doing other people's makeup and to be honest, I feel like I'm better than the average girl but I'm not amazing at my own makeup. How much will that come into play? I have tons of sales and retail experience and obviously the girls at my counter see potential in me (I hope they're not offering applications to everyone!). I'm just wondering if anyone knows of anyone who has gotten hired with little makeup experience? Thanks. Sorry again this is so long!

I think they would really want you to have good retail background. You're there to help them sell their Items and meet their goals!:) good luck to u and I!

Question : I had an interview with Mac and she was very impressed by me and said she would love to hire me but she wanted to see how I would interact in macs environment do she said she would start me as a freelancer. She called me right back after the interview and told me she was very fond and was gonna pass my resumes to the counters near me and to go to my second interview. But she said not for me to call her and she was gonna call me basically my question us when should you usually hear back from Mac?

hi all...

i applied online for a MAC counter position at Nordstrom in the DMV and here's where i am in the process:

-received a call from Nordstrom
-passed group interview with Nordstrom's director of cosmetics
-Homa called me and had me do an application interview with my own model for a MAC store manager in the same mall. 3 hours after that interview Homa called me to tell me that I passed
-In that same conversation she asked me to go to Greenbelt Training facilities with a copy of my resume dressed in all black to meet with Michelle.

For anyone who knows, Homa is a woman of few words so I don't want to call back and ask any more questions. Does anyone know what this stage is like? What to expect? Do I already have the job and will be training?

any insight would be great!
