Yes - I have a number of Nixie products, and I believe they have been a casualty as well, which is a shame, because I really do like them. I was able to order several things, and actually get them, but I think they're pretty much toast at this point. EL, Lancome (whatever the parent name for them and L'Oreal is), and Chanel will weather the storm......did I hear that EL is picking up Mally?

L'Oreal is the momma of Lancome and many others... in the last 18 months there have been about 30 companies which have either gone down the tubes or been taken over... Mally is in talks with EL but am not sure if it was finalized

if your paint pots get a bit too dry, put a small droplet of a liquid/oil makeup remover like Lancome's BiFacil and let it soak in overnight -- it works wonders for all cream products to make the smooth and buttery again

Repeat if necessary too!

I have to warm up Painterly on the back of my hand and then it glides right on. I have Bare Study which totally dried up in 3 months. I was so sad.

I know what you mean about the MA -- it is so hard to recreate it at home. You'd think with all of my practice that I could totally do it like a pro by now!

He also found a Chanel rose ring & showed me the picture - I was like, don't be showing me that gorgeous thing unless you're planning on buying it
tong.gif
I can't even imagine the $$$$ it must cost.

Loving the glossimers. I love my growing collection! I must have lips with no pigment, because I am amazed at how they look so much darker on my lips than in some of the pics I see. They have just the perfect amount of shimmer

Hmmm, maybe your hubby will get you that Chanel ring for Christmas!!

Ya, I'm happy with these two brands.

LOL I think Chanel is so sleek and classic and not to mention fabulous quality!

Honestly, Chanel glossimers are the best gloss in my opinion. I can use them through the day and don't get chapped lips the way I do with just about any other brand (MAC's lipglasses are the worst, yet I continue to buy them!).

ETA, and they have better lasting power than many glosses out there!

I cannot wear MAC's lipglasses on their own. They are too dry and sticky and my lips hurt and crack. I'm buying less of them now but I always wear them over lipstick and they will be fine. Glossimers =

I do really love the glossimers, but I've been thinking about trying out a few of the Estee Lauder Pure Color Glosses. The color range is lovely and the more recent packaging is gorgeous! I'm not a fan of MAC's glosses. My nose is way too sensitive to their vanilla smell!

I love MAC lipglasses and wear one of them every day. No problems at all!

Elegant, that is so sweet of hubs!! And what a cool way to 'flaunt your Chanel'!! He has great taste all around!
kissy.gif
And I agree, he may be thinking holiday gift......
hmm.gif

Thanks for the tip about the paint post, HerGreyness! I will give this a go tonight - I have a few paint pots that I don't use because they're dry. I'm happy to have a way to revive them, as I really do love using them as bases.

Michelle, I'm so happy you like your glossimers!! I'm always amazed at how different Chanel lip products look on me - I can swatch them on my hand and think ahhhhhhh or ewwwwww and get the exact opposite look on my lips!
th_dunno.gif
I too favor these over MAC (or any other gloss for that matter) but I don't have issues with MAC....I know a lot of people do though. Go figure!

I'm to be buried with a Levres Scintillantes!! And still rocking them in my 100's!!!

There's a 79 lady that visits my MAC PRO and collects almost every single item from every single collection. The sweetest part is she goes with her hubby, who patiently waits on a bench outside or the MAC director's chairs for make overs!!

He is more a lipstick man and prefers lipstick to gloss, not sure about the pigmented glosses.

I love the story with the MAC lady, she is now my guru as well! You should tell her next time that she has a bunch of followers

I need a Chanel photo fix!

So what are they calling all the new goodies that I saw in the Chanel fliers? Its not part of the holiday collection - or is it? Did we have pics or a product list, I can't remember.

Ahhh...Sunday mornings with a cold Rock Star and my Specktra Chanel rock stars. It just doesn't get better than this.

Karin, I'm sorry to hear about the cc situation. I was a victim of identity theft 15 years ago and it still haunts me to this day. The unfortunate and maddening thing about it was that back then it wasn't taken as seriously.

Cheryl, you are really rocking the BC quad. It always draws my eye when I am at the counter and now I may have to put it on my wish list. I love what you picked up in the R&R line. Our Nordies used to carry it but clearanced it out ages ago.

Elegant, sounds like you are having fun with the pup. My "babies" are a 2 year old Maltese and a rescue dog who is a Pomeranian. We think he may be around 14 years old. He was used as a stud dog at a puppy mill until the police raided it. He was in bad shape when we got him a year ago but he acts like a young, healthy pup now. They both keep me pretty busy.

I didn't buy alot this week but I am super stoked about what I did get.

I got the new NARS lip gloss in Luxor. Looks just like the multiple in lip gloss form.

I also picked up the new Dior lash primer/growth serum. I haven't tried it yet but have been reading some very positive things about it.

From Chanel I got Phoenix RAL, UV Essentiel, and Venus glossimer. If anyone is still looking for Venus please have Nordstrom check their system for you. I live in WA and they were able to locate several in OR. They ship directly to you for free (mine arrives tomorrow). If you don't have a Nordies or yours doesn't have a Chanel counter let me know and I will give you contact information for the lovely MA who helped me out.

^^ Nice haul, April!!! Great that you found Venus - I agree - Nordies is great about checking their system!

Let us know how you like the Dior serum - I've been considering it (though it's pretty far down my wish list) and would love to know some 'real world' (aka trusted Spektra mavens) results.......

Hope everyone had a great weekend - I cannot believe how fast they go!

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Hey everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. Yep, I agree Cheryl, goes by way too fast! I worked some extra time yesterday, so I only got one day to enjoy. Spent the afternoon with my baby girl (well she's 4, but still my baby!). We went by MAC & Sephora, i had to return an MB to MAC and picked up Gingerly (inspired by Kim Kardashian's look) and then onto Sephora to get NARS' gloss in Turkish Delight (again, part of her look!). Also picked up the UD e/s primer, never tried it before, but my Benefit fy eye after 10 years is no longer working as well, I've had some major creasing issues
ssad.gif
so I'm going to give UD's a try. For those who have tried both, do you prefer UD or Too Faced shadow insurance? So while i didn't spend much, still shouldn't really be make-up shopping, but oh well! And I still ended up forgetting to get some eye mu remover and mascara (but those are necessities, so they don't count!).

Still waiting for August 9th... *taps fingers impatiently*.

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Yeah, for me, buying the 'basics' is like buying tires.....doesn't count.
nope.gif

Good job getting your little angel out there on the makeup shopping trips!
angelic.gif

I hate that you have to wait so long for the Chanel stuff.....
weeping.gif

I tend to switch back and forth between UD and TFSI. I can't decide which I like better, but I believe I also tend to reach for UD more often. I just bought the 'Eden' shade last weekend - I'm not finished with my standard one yet, but it's pretty close. I also am trying out Laura Mercier's version in Brighteyes and Linen to see how I like them, but wow they are pretty thick and you only need a small amount. Jury is still out on those. I have to say I like the 'slip' of UDPP and TFSI quite a bit, and the fact that they are very thin but effective. Sometimes they crease before I can get my shadow on, but I just blend them down again. They keep my shadow crease-free all day. I think I have 'normal' eyelids (not dry, not oily). Not sure if that helps......

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Thanks Cheryl. Yep, you're answer does help. I think i may have tried LM's a long time ago when I had my make-up done there, but totally forgot about that one! I remember liking it a lot though! The price point for UD is great, it's at least $6 less than benefit's primer, so that was a bonus.

I love Turkish delight! A lot. Is gingerly a blush?

I don't/can't use eye primer

I also switch back and forth with UDPP and TFSI, but if I had to choose just one, I'd go with UD. I really want to try Eden!

Elegant, why can't you use eye primer?

So nobody got the button quad? I would love to hear some thoughts about it!

My thoughts are that it has very little color payoff....the colors are nice, but whoa
amazed.gif
you have to build and build it to see the color. The overspray apparently comes off with the first swipe. I just didn't think it was worth the money - there are other quads I'd rather have that have more bang for the buck. Just MHO.
