I've been eyeing spices for a while, but I'm holding off for now. I got the Dior quint in Crush Glow, and while they're not the same, the shades are similar enough! I prefer Chanel's shadows though, they don't crease near as much.

Hehe, glad to make someone smile!

It's true though, I went stupid crazy over that collection. I ended up with both bronzers, 1 cream bronzer, 4 shadows, 2 l/g, 1 l/s, 1 e/l, 1 blush (already had hipness!), BOTH brushes and two marine life. I can't believe I did that, but damn that packaging has got to be my favourite of any MAC collection (and believe me, I'm now into at least my 15th year of buying MAC!). I looked at everything and thought, that's at least one window cover in the new house, but I have no remorse whatsoever! At least DH found my favourite sunglasses that I thought I'd lost when we sold our home, so I can take back the one's I had bought to replace them!

I have made a vow to not buy anymore MAC till the end of the year! (No mention was made of any other brand though!!!).

Oh, and tonight I got my butt on the tread mill and did a solid 1/2 hour, thanks to all the talk here over the last few days. And I'm motivated to start going back to my fitness class at work that I sign up for (1/2 hr at lunch). I haven't been once in the last three months!

I wore the eye liner/eye shadow Jet-Gold duo yesterday and I love it!
heart.gif
The eye liner can be used dry and isn't totally useless. It gives a soft smoky effect. I use it wet too and did a cat eye easily and it was very smooth. I love the gold and pink shimmer in the gold e/s. Put Rose Petale on my cheeks, Gardenia and Constellation on my lips.

Thanks for the info. The colours don't sound like what I must have, so maybe I can pass the quad and save money.

I'm surprise how similar Spices and Kaska Beige look in the square quads. I'm more accustomed to seeing the quad with the circles.
lol.gif
Spices is perm at my counters and it has been repromoted twice since I got interested in Chanel, once for Christmas 2008 and now for Summer 2010. So you like Spices but not Kaska Beige?

Checked the counter yesterday and it didn't have Garden Party. I think it was discontinued here.

Dragon Laque! Whoa baby.

Actually I was going to get Phoenix, but the Chanel girl (a young one!) said, oh with your dark hair & really pale skin you should get Dragon - its Gwenn Stephanie's new signature red lip. They featured it in I think Allure? I'm thinkin - nah, I can't do a GS lip - until I patted it on (I had MAC's Blood Red ls on already) yep, I needed it
yes.gif
ugghh, & then she couldn't find it (computer said they still had 5) What is up with Nordstroms. Last time I went they couldn't find a blush I wanted. arrgghh. So, I got it at Saks

And....Cinnamon es

All the quads were pretty
th_dunno.gif

I hear new product around 16th of June.

ok, I reswatched Deep Taupe (gorgeous) HR (still loved), Vanilla, Lily - they swatched different in Nordies than in Saks. I couldn't get them to show in Nordies, but saks had such awesome payoff - even the sheer ones
th_dunno.gif

Maybe those at Nordies have harden by finger oils.
th_dunno.gif

I have a mini Dragon Laque but haven't worn it yet. No occasion to wear red lips yet. I imagine it is stunning on you!

Ladies, I just ran across this blurb that the new shadow duos are CREAM, and will be available in a couple of weeks:

SS 2010: Chanel Ombre Contraste Duo | Front Row View

noworry.gif
I have cream shadows that I use as bases - I'm not that great with blending cream shadows for my whole look and generally prefer powders......

Will have to check these out when they're in-store, but I could be saving some money.......

And here are the color names (except for the glossimers) for the Fall 2010 collection -

Yes, Spices (perm here too) is lighter (3/4 colors are light) and eye-brightening on me. Kaska (3/4 colors are dark) is darker and warm-plummy, and while I used to love those kinds of colors when I was younger now with a few exceptions they just make me look tired.

Interesting that they're promoting Spices there for summer. Unless I'm getting mixed up with which collection is technically considered summer, here they're repromoting Demure. Do they not have Demure there?

^^ No Demure here. So for Summer 2010 we are repromoting Promesse (not Nymphea) and Spices at different counters. Thanks for the description, you are spot on for Kaska Beige. Like you, I like the colours but they make me look tired. I have been tempted to purchase Spices before and now the desire is stirred again as you say they are eye brightening.
thmbup.gif

Just a thought, Spices was repromoted for Christmas 2008 and now for summer. A very versatile quad? A good neutral quad, maybe.

Thanks for the info, Shypo! No wonder the duos look so creamy and smooth, because they are creams!
lol.gif
I don't like cream blushes and don't own any cream e/s except for a paintpot, which I stopped using. I can't blend that well either. Maybe I'll give them a try - just one duo to test myself on my blending skills.

Yes, I'd say both. You can get very different looks out of it depending on whether or not you use the goldish color in the lower left.

What do you think of Nymphea? I've never tried that one on.

It's ok to splurge, especially if you really love a collection.

Good for you - 1/2hour on the treadmill is killer if you haven't done it in awhile

I'm glad your hubby found the glasses! I do stuff like that & it makes me crazy. I try to be extra extra careful with my sunglasses now because last year I bought these gorgeous semi large black Chanel sunglasses with the silver cc at the sides. I would lose it if I left those somewhere. Hubby always telling me to either leave them in the car or put them in my purse instead of laying them down on a counter or restaurant table so I don't leave them.

That sounds like such a lovely combo! Agghhh, I can't hear you on the liner duo

On the eyeshadows, yes you would think finger oils cause it - usually it is that, but Heather Rose she opened just for me to test (they couldn't even find their tester)
th_dunno.gif
what!?
So who knows what is going on with them. Maybe I had some makeup remover residue on my hand. I just can't figure it out.

Aw thanks dear. Its def. a wow red but do-able because its deep. I really liked Dragon patted over Mac's Blood Red ls a lot.

Sorry, Promesse is being repromoted, not Nymphea. I went to check the swatches at the Chanel website and realised the mistake. Nymphea is also perm here, and I can't recall how much exactly I like it, but definitely like it more than Promesse. Promesse looks very sheer and unpigmented, with the two pale green shades looking similar.

Thanks to you, Spices just sneaked into my list!
winkiss.gif
Getting it the next time the department store has a sale. And maybe Sparkling Satins too. It caught my eye once again when I was at the counter yesterday.

I think it's great you enjoyed a large haul!! Every now and then I think we all deserve that. TTB got me too, big time! I spent way more than I was expecting (and used up some gift cards from last Christmas!), and I love everything I purchased. I got 2 e/s, 3 l/s, all 3 l/g, both lip pencils, both blushes, 1 creme bronzer, 2 ML (one for my sister in law), and 1 powder bronzer...I already have both brushes and 2 of the e/s. This is my favorite MAC summer collection ever, and I actually love the packaging too!

Enjoy your new stuff, you deserve it!

Eh...they're actually cream shadows? That totally bums me out. I'll have to check them out in person to see if I can make them work for me. Oh well, more money for the yummy fall collection if these are a no-go for me.

The fall stuff still looks as gorgeous as ever, I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I too have been noodling over Spices and Sparkling Satins, but I need to try them out (too focused on TTB lately - I too went overboard with this collection without realizing I was going to.....

).

Nymphea hasn't grabbed me - perhaps it's the pastel nature of them (and heaven knows I have a TON of pastels).

I think I'm content with what I have for now in anticipation of Enigma, Pink Explosion, and the new glossimers.....

I know this question wasn't posed to me, but I had Nymphea years ago and didn't like it much. Actually, it was the quad that turned my off Chanel for a long time! It wasn't all that pigmented, mind you, back then I didn't use a base like I do now, but I didn't with my MAC shadows either and continued to buy those!!!

I can't begin to tell you how bad I am with sunglasses! I never used to get expensive shades, but then I lost a pair literally every three months! I finally splurged and bought myself a pair of Ray-bans about 4 years ago and will never go back to lower end sunglasses. I was a lot more careful with these because of the price tag (though not even close to high-end designer glasses!), and while i came close, i never lost them. I also splurged last fall with a pair of versace shades, and like you, kept leaving them on the table, or on the passenger seat when I couldn't find the case. Well... one day I put them on the back seat cuz I had a friend in the car, forgot about them and only remembered after the kids were back there and no suprise, one of the lenses had a deep scratch in it.
ssad.gif
Luckily, I'm told the lenses can be replaced for a reasonable price! But the glasses i thought I lost were my most cherished, a pair of Ray-ban aviators designed for narrow faces (mine is insanely small!), and the colour was exclusive to Sunglass hut, so I had to pay full price!

I bet your glasses are gorgeous! There's something about Chanel sunglasses, they just look so luxurious! I'm hoping the oversized style sticks around for a while!

And ya, the treadmill was good, but my heart rate went a bit too high, so clearly I am outta shape!!!

(sorry for the long post everyone, i'm procrastinating!).

Hi yazerella - throughout this thread are our thoughts on Chanel's skincare - it's going to depend on what you're looking for and what your skin type is - but I think you'll find a pretty good representation of what many of us have tried and now can't live without.
winkiss.gif

For instance, Elegant and I really like the Ultra Correction Lift serum....several of us like the Base Lumiere primer (which we now refer to as 'Shontay's Lumiere'
girlhaha.gif
) and Hydramax+Active is a favorite amongst some of us.....it's better just to read through the pages and see if you find something useful from our opining......

I love Chanel sunglasses! Someday I'll have to splurge and get myself a pair. I've been looking for a new pair of glasses and I think I've pretty much decided on these from Dior (in black):

Dior Cocotte Sunglasses - Nordstrom

What do you guys think? I think they're stylish enough without being too trendy so they'll last a while.

After thinking about it a bit, I'm gonna pass on the cream eyeshadow duos. I know I won't use them enough, even if I love the colors (which I do), and I'd rather get another RC or RA lipstick instead...can never have enough lippies!

I agree

Those glasses are really cool! I will always wear the oversized sunglasses I don't think that style is ever going away. I do alternate with a pair of Marc Jacobs Aviators - I love the aviator style.
