I own several of them and love them!!
They are truly shimmery!! And awesome bases if you use a primer first or if you're fast enough to pad your Chanel eyeshadow before they get dry!! If you do that last thing, you won't have creasing in 8 or up hours. My eyelids are seriously oily, btw.
I have some from the original release and haven't gone bad. Not any funky smell, change of texture or itchy reaction. You must always shake them well before every use. At some point, you'll be left with more powder than liquid (that hasn't happened to me), my beloved SA, has told me to pour in some lotion Confort or Douceur.

To me, totally!! But then again, I'm a total Chanel addict!!
Anyway, here are my thoughts on them:
They have amazing texture. If you live outside US, you'll get the baked ones, which means they will hardly break. Once or twice they have fallen to the floor without any damage, well the mirror might chipped a bit at one corner. They are always awesome combinations of colors. Really nice and classy. They can be used wet, which enhances their wear time and brightness. The color payoff can be as light or as dark as you wish to make it. If you want to get the exact same shade in the pan, you'll need to build up. Remember, they're meant for classy women that hardly wear bold colors on their lids. You can't never go wrong with the color choices. I know it seems like little product for your buck, but somehow my quads last longer than my MAC, somehow I notice I use more MAC product.
Above all they're Chanel!!! It feels great to own them!!
What I don't like about them, yes there's something I don't like about them, it's their weight. When I travel, they make my makeup bag even heavier.
Anyway, I do recommend checking them personally first. Once you get familiar with the product, you can order them online without fear. Let me know how it goes!!

I'm soo jealous!! I asked for them today at The Chanel Make Up Studio and they had no clue!! I fear I won't have the chance to get them!! We'll see...

Limited Edition - I think someone said that they're testing them to see if they'll catch on and then add them to the line permanently if they're a hit....unless I dreamed that whole post.
I have several of the quads (I've been collecting them for many years) and I like some more than others - I posted a few pages back that I like the quads because they're 'grab and go' on my workdays - I don't have to think about what colors I want to put together. I love MAC for my creative days and when I have more time to be an 'artist'. The quads are a good investment, and the good news is, there's aren't gazillions of them to choose from.
Hypathya also has the collection to end all collections, and she loves them - I'm sure she'll weigh in on them!

What makes me sad it's I've lost my Spices twice, so I have bought it three times!!
It's my staple quad.
Btw, I worn it today, along with In Love blush, Fuego hydrabase lippie and Big Bang levres scintillantes.
