OH JEBUS YES!!

I don't care what *ANYONE* says, that dress, and her ball gown, was HOT!

I so wish I had her stature and elegance; I would wear the *hell* out of her wardrobe.

I am so looking forward to style being back in the White House!

No, I'm not. I didn't even think that my comment could be misconstrued, or be inadvertently offensive to some.

I was more making light of the sentiment out there saying that supporters of Obama 'worship' him.

^^ I am 100% positive it was a joke

^^ Thanks Tish. I have a tendency to forget that voodoo is a true religion for some; I would hate for anyone feel I was making light of that.

The best humor is served-up dry...and that you don't get for a few minutes.

People look at him with bright hopeful eyes.. becasue we HOPE that perhaps he can bring America back to the strong country WE once were.

Obama was never in the tabloids the way Sarah Palin and John McCain were during the election, so to me They would be a closer comparison to " trendy celebrity"

He is our President, Whats done is done- It is what it is- No matter what your vote was. The honeymoon may be over but Our long future together is just begining...

mmmmmmmm
smiles.gif
. I think there's a specific amount of time that a president is in office that's called the "honeymoon" period. I cant remember the correct time. I think a year?? Not that im supporting her comments.. I just think that that's the time period she was referring too
smiles.gif

That being said-

aw i bawled my friggin eyes out durring the ceremony.. and did anyone see how AMAZING Bush sr. was??? Thats a man who TRULY loves his wife right there- him and barbra was SO CUTE together!!!!
cutey.gif

Anyways- I also am in love with the obama girls. I want to take them home and babysit them and take them to the zoo and shit. They're so effing cute.

And am I the only one who cried like a 9 month old at michelle and barack's first dance?!?!??!?!?!?! "At Last" Was the PERFECT song.

I just have to say- something related that kinda irked me the other night...
We have a new hostess at work.. she's black... and i just happened to walk in on a convo she was having with someone- where she was saying that she was "so proud" that a black man was now president- which... I AM TOO! yay!!!
choochoo.gif
so pumped.. not kidding. I think it's great! it really shows how freaking far our country as come.. but anyways.
She goes on to say:

"Im a single mom and my baby daddy has nothing to do with my daughter and shes a year old. And I have to work 20 hours a week and I go to school part time too.. the plight of the black person i guess."

This irked the SHIT outta me.. the fact that she put it in the same sentance as obama getting elected. As if him getting elected was going to change her situation.. and the plight of the black person?? WHAT? its called- YOU HAD SEX. YOU GOT PREGNANT. pregnancy does NOT discriminatee.

I just looked at her and said "funny.. im a single mom, my son's father has nothing to do with him either, i work 30 hours a week and go to school full time.. and I'm white. Im confused." and she said "well now that obama's elected... thigns will change."

WHAT?

I dont get it. I mean honestly--- I think its AMAZING that obama got elected.. but no one. NO ONE can hold you back from success, but yourself. not a single damn person in this world. I dont care WHAT your situation is. I have read and seen soooooooooooooo many people in this world who have come from the WORST possible situations and with will power and hard work-- have succeeded in life. has anyone EVER seen The Persuit of Happiness? THAT is what this country is all about... And whether we elect a black, red, yellow, or white president... that wont change. We are individuals and responsible for our own future.

I am sooooooooo excited to see what happens under this administration. And im so happy for the fact that obama is in office.. even if I didnt vote for him. (moral issues.. not political... and nothing to do with him being black, lol.. in fact.. dude's 1/2 white, yo. LOL)

I love this fucking country.

I didn't vote for him...but my professor was telling us that a 92 year old black women was interviewed after he had won the election. The fact that she was living with/witnessed so much hate towards those of color, the lynching, slavery, racism and brutality etc., and now, a man of color is the president...that to me is just astrounding to think about.

My stepson was just talking about this story today at school with his teachers...I don't think it is the same lady because she was 106 years young Obama's Oldest Fan to Attend Inaugural Ball | NBC Bay Area

I just couldn't figure out why Etta James couldn't perform the song she made famous, "At Last" . It keeps irking me that everyone does her songs on TV but it like she is kept away from taking credit for it, or maybe they asked and she just didn't want to do it or she was never asked which seems common for her.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1 Corinthians 13:11 spoken by President Obama.

He was saying that to that child, not that he was going to make her successful but he is going to do his damndest to give her the tools such as access to pell grants that will help with college, access to affordable child care so she can go to school and a functioning economy but it is up to her to reach out and obtain the tools and drive the car from there.

I wouldn't have my degree if it wasn't for Clinton (BTW, I have liberal views but I vote independent and third party) and my access to pell grants and sallieMae, and during these last 8 years, I hear a lot of kids couldn't even get the money because the funding was cut so badly.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm developing quite an unhealthy obsession of our beloved Commander in Chief. I've never experienced these feelings before. I know there must be a word for it.

Word.

BTW I just hope that my country is able to triumph through this difficult time. No matter what anyone thinks only time will tell. I just want to see how the first hundred days turns out.

And boo-ing Bush was the tackiest thing I have ever seen. That was disgusting.

I think that some people hype Barack up and look at him like the Messiah. But he's not and I think he reminds people of that and wants people to understand and be realistic about who he is and what he is trying to do. I think most people get it. People are just happy and hopeful and look forward to what is to come. I think that is what people saw and are seeing. I think people think that Barack is really going to try and make some positive and productive changes. He's not going to part the seas, he's not going to walk on water and he's not going to turn water into wine but he is going to do his best and what is within his capabilities to make this country better.

When I saw him take the oath of office I beamed with joy and hope and pride. When I watched him dance with Michelle to "At Last", my heart melted. This whole experience has been beautiful and I enjoyed it and watched other people enjoy it. I just want to close my eyes, take a deep breath and breathe it all in - and I did.

Barack is going to make choices that I don't agree with, actually he already has because Arnie Duncan is an idiot, BUT, I support him. I expect to disagree in the future but I will try to understand that he has his reasons and look at the big picture, which I hope is a new day.

I soo had to agree with her on ALL those points haha.

I am proud that a black man got elected, but at the same time, I really don't think it's that big of a deal. I think putting the emphasis on race and making it a big deal is kind of backwards. But then again I'm white and I haven't known the struggles of others

Go Obama!!

well im only 22 years old and my grandmother and grandfather on my father's side are well in their 80's born in Georgia and Florida. and it never really struck a cord in me until i started to ask him questions about growing up in the south. when my grandparents were able to vote they had to take a literacy test and my grandmother had to count marbles in a jar, so yea to some it's a big deal for me as an african american. i'd never thought i'd se eit in my lifetime and it makes me so emotional to see that BOTH my grandparents were here to witness history. when they witnessed the blood the tears and lives lost by both black and white for Barack to take that oath. so to down play it and pass it off as "no big deal" kind of puts a dagger in those who have fought for people who have felt unjust. it's almost like when JFK became president, there had never been an irish catholic and to those irish catholics it's a big deal. if hilary had won it would have been just as big a step , just as if he was gay, asian. latino, or even native american. i LOVE the direction america is heading to. and michelle obama said it best but for the 1st time i can say that i was truly proud to be an american.
