RED ALERT - RED ALERT - RED ALERT - RED ALERT - RED ALERT - RED ALERT - RED ALERT - RED ALERT!!!

It appears we have, yet, another suspicious MAC seller, and it’s extremely blatant here, borderline shameless. The worst thing is that even the people who bought from this seller admitted it was fake and still left positive feedback stating that it was their fault and that they were happy with the color anyway because it was “Pretty” !!! Whaaaaat?

Doing a loose count this seller has over 26 items on eBay!

You know it’s bad enough when these sellers don’t advertise certain batch numbers, or if it was new, never tested, or in its original box – (Because you know Miss TamEva HATES having to email a seller about those fundamental questions). Some kind of info you can use to put the pieces together to instill confidence that you are buying from a legitimate source, but…

…when they fail to even tell you what COLOR you may be buying – that is going too, too far!!!
thmbdn.gif

All of these roughly 26 items do not indicate what color they're selling

For the record:
I’m one of those collectors who buys Piggies from eBay. Only absolutely discontinued Piggies, though, never, never anything that can be purchased presently from current stock. It's never worth increasing your odds of getting fakes to simply save a few dollars. Especially, for an item you will have in your makeup arsenal for many a moon! Thus far I’ve had extremely good luck (knock-on-trian-case)!

Thanks to you all and the your “hawk-eye” attention to detail and conscious effort to make sure everybody has at least a fighting chance to shop online more responsibly.
You've made me a better shopper!

Here is a list of Legit Piggies I’ve bought online thus far:

Goldenaire x3 (Yes…I’m hoarding this color like rice)
Accent Red
Gold Dusk
Lovely Lily (Original Batch)
Lily White
Dazzleray
Deckchair
Apricot Pink
Pinked Mauve
Subtle
Softwash Grey

…Holy Smokes – that’s a lot!

If you’re interested in these Sellers names let me know I’ll be happy to list them.

As far as I was aware all bidder IDs are kept private in auction histories now.

This seller has several counterfeit brush sets listed. I've linked the worst-looking of the lot. The giveaway (aside from the shape and case)? 190SE large angle brush - the real MAC 190 is a foundation brush. three different brushes also have the same number - 242SE. all MAC brushes are numbered differently.

100% AUTHANTIC MAC' PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP BRUSH KIT SET 7 - eBay Sets, Kits, Beauty Tools, Makeup, Beauty, Health. (end time 09-May-08 21:05:00 AEST)

Another counterfeit brush set. This one has the wrong handle shapes and bristle appearance, and the brushes are not numbered.

MAC Makeup Brush 15pc Set + MAC Pouch - Brand New FSZ - eBay Sets, Kits, Beauty Tools, Makeup, Beauty, Health. (end time 09-May-08 22:37:49 AEST)

counterfeit eye shadow palette (seller has other suspected counterfeit items). this seller has many large lots of MAC product. I'm very suspicious of these items - anyone care to look into them? I am having issues getting the pictures to load in the actual listings.

Eyeshadows 12 color Eye shadow Brand new MAC' lot #5 - eBay, Eye Shadow, Makeup, Beauty, Health. (end time 10-May-08 13:15:33 AEST)

Great Idea !!

Lately whenever I'm on ebay.com.au I actively seek out the fakes to report as its getting beyond ridiculous now. I've also noticed a few of the Hong Kong sellers I report DO get there listings pulled but I think its due to the fact that they list 99 cent items and charge $150 for shipping, good old Ebay doesn't want to lose out on those listing fees.

Meanwhile, my ebay account is restricted AGAIN !!! I sell NYX not Obvious FAKE MAC CRAP

I came up with some auction-number blocks (You can report up to 10 auctions in one report) in nameless4tv's thread but thought a run-down on how to report might empower more Specktra-ettes and help get eBay to pull the auctions more quickly.

Here's the quickest way I've found to get to that report screen (I am not pasting a direct link because I believe that URL reflects each member's ID; if you're not signed in I believe eBay might think you're me and in that case it will discount multiple reports):
  • make sure you're signed in
  • scroll to the bottom of a suspect listing. Under "other options" you'll find "report this item."
  • On the next screen:
  • *in box 1 click "counterfeits and copyright violations,"
  • *in box 2 click "potential trademark infringement"
  • *and then in box 3 click "other replica or counterfeit items."
  • Hit "continue" and on the next screen click "Email us with your question or concern."
  • That will give you a blank e-mail form that you can use to paste in the blocks of numbers. Sometimes the form already includes the number of the first item you clicked from, in that case please be sure to eliminate that item from the block of items you're pasting in.

If folks are interested in other cut-and-paste blocks of auction numbers, for other sellers, I can work on some tomorrow.

Well, at least, this one uses a little more imagination than our other friend does. But can anyone from “Specktra-Land” tell me if they’re even remotely wooed by names, all beginning with the descriptive word “SHIMMER”, such as:

PEACHY PINK,
EMERALD GREEN,
LAVENDER PURPLE,
HOTT WHITE,
ELECTRIC BLUE,
HOT GREEN,
PALE WHITE,
GOLDEN BROWN,
FUSION PINK PEARL,
GOLDEN YELLOW,
SPARKLE GRAY,
DULL WHITE,
MONEY GREEN,
EMERALD PINK,
EMERALD PURPLE,
APPLE GREEN,
SMOKE GRAY

"?"

Here are just a few of the 18 "big time" fakes in total!!! What’s really goin’ on?

Is there a kind of "Power in Numbers" when it comes to reporting these. Or is one report sufficient to be taken just as seriously by eBay???

I've never reported before.

Just a few minutes ago (as of 5:40 P.M. PST) - I made an attempt to report as well I hope I did it correctly, I followed WordGirl's instructions, although I had to go through my original links I posted, since WordGirls weren't coming up anymore (what does that mean?) Could they have put some kind of freeze on the auctions?

The reason that a lot of these items get a lot of bids is the price. Many counterfeit items are listed at low prices, and people who aren't aware that these items aren't authentic are vying for them, believing they are getting a bargain.

There is also the possibility of shill bids, but that is impossible to prove or disprove so it's best not to speculate on that too much.

In regards to Wordgirl's links - they will not work for anyone as they are tied to her user ID on eBay. You will need to manually navigate to a "report this listing" form and pick it up from there.

Awk, that explains it. I thought I logged out, d'oh!!!!

Unfortunately, many of the auctions did end successfully, some with prices close to retail. This makes me
