MAC Après Chic Collection Discussion (December 2012)

So excited...just got back from the mall with Winter Persuit, Alpine Bronze and two of the balms...Lighly Nude and Nice and Simple. They sold out of Pure and whatever so I am having it shipped. The balms feel really nice on...love them. My husband said I could get them for my birthday on Sunday....SF is my favorite though. Still waiting for SB and Ice to arrive in the mail next week. I am cool toned but I am loving this collection.

i havent completely given up.. I loved glamourdaze on me but I dont know how to make hc work

I wore it today with Dervish l/l and Crazy Haute l/g and it looked lovely, and not totally 90s. For me the trick is to add some pink into the mix....... Do you have Docile, or Curvaceous l/g? Those work well too and don't change the color drastically.

Glad you're loving Hot Chocolate. I wore mine today with Mahogany lip liner (lightly) because I couldn't locate my Plum liner. I totally love Hot Chocolate which is mauve heaven on me.

I want to try it with plum liner, maybe I'll get more mauve out of it.

Yup, I was just reading here and then I saw Corally's post mentioning that they were up. First when I looked, SR was marked as sold out, a few minutes later PP was marked as sold out, but SR was available, so I quickly ordered that one. Then after my SR order PP was suddenly available again, so I snagged that one too. Two possible scenarios: either somebody was in the process of ordering and was in doubt or Douglas was messing with their site since AC is not officially mentioned under new collections yet. Anyways: victory :stars:

Yay! The AC goodies have been up since mid-late afternoon so I don't think it was a case of Douglas messing with the site. I hope AC and AG stick around until I decide what to do about them. Are SR and PP all you're getting from this collection?

Probably so. I am trying to stick to a no buy, but it is hard. I guess I'll make it a less buy then and try to be a little more critical than the past year. Just told hubster, expecting him to get , but he didn't get mad. So just happy atm. I was just eyeing AG too, but if it is a lighter version of LY I'll skip. AC gets a lot of raves, but I am sure I wouldn't reach much for it. I prefer reds with a statement. Aren't you NC15 too? If you decide to get AC and AG, I am really curious how much you like them, especially AG.

I'm also more critical than the past year. I know I have too much make-up, but I couldn't skip the entire collection haha. I know I'll love Après Chic but I'm not entirely sure about Hot Chocolate and Amber Glow. I guess I'll find out soon enough. But I am able to skip Strength yay!

Yup, I think I'm NC15. Or thereabouts. Possibly a tad lighter though. re: statement colour - that's precisely why AC wasn't in my buy-or-die list. [COLOR=0000FF]I thought AC would be a nice way to try out some demure versions.[/COLOR] re: Amber Glow - It's the shimmer that put me off buying it straight away. I haven't got LY so I don't currently have any (near) dupes in my collection. But I am going to buy both Pearlmattes from Archie and I have a feeling the Betty Pearlmatte may deliver a similar colour sans glitter. Heck, even Cream Soda may be close! Either way, I'll be sure to shout from the rooftops what I think about both products if I get them

I really like those soft reds! I've also got a lot of brighter and 'statement' reds but I always sheer them out. I seriously feel like a clown when I'm wearing red full on.

Thanks!! I was so scared I'd miss out on those things. I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to ordering stuff on the internet and I know Douglas sometimes scatters the products under categories instead of putting the entire collection in one place so I went through the lipstick and mineralize categories like crazy. :lol:

whatever I wear either blush or bronzer if I feel it does not look good enough I just throw some SG over it and voile it looks amazing

Probably due to the fact that I often wear loud lipstick, especially reds and pinks. I do like them on others though. I also try to get on the more subdued train, but somehow I either wear brights or after a really really bright lipstick day I'll reach for shades like Fanfare, cosmo, creme in your coffee etc. Since I am very pale, brighter lipsticks give my face more oomph, I guess. Most people who know me associate me with red lipstick.
