MAC for Marilyn

Here's my MM story: I went to pick up my stuff the first thing on Monday morning when the collection came out. Other customers? Not a single soul. After that I have passed by the counter at least 1-2 times a day, and not once I have seen anyone even looking at the MM stuff. Nevertheless, first things to sell out* were DA and then CIS, along with TPC. And today, LG and finally SI were sold out. They may still have 1-2 PZs. Is this crazy or really crazy?
*There were no BPs.

I will be sure to let you know if I get a hold of it. I am not too optimistic about it though.

Today I went super early at the store and bought Scarlet Ibis lippie and Forever Marilyn bp. The bp is gorgeous! I'm so glad that I bought it because it feels like I'm glowing in the spotlight or something (I'm NW20 for reference). It didn't felt chalky or super powdery. The MUA gushed about how it looked lovely on me. I won't buy a backup of the bp because where I live, it's pretty much of a heatwave 24/7-365 days and it's one of those items that will last for a long while in my drawer. However, I don't discourage anyone who's backing it up because it's really an amazing product and it may not be re-promoted due to the name, unless they do but by another name. I tried the other red lipsticks (Love Goddess, Charmed, I'm Sure, and Deeply Adored) in the store and here's my small review about them:

Scarlet Ibis was just as I excepted, orange and red toned, and tbh I'm a sucker for those kinds of shades. It was an instant buy for me.

Surprisingly, Love Goddess turned out pink on me instead of red. No berry nor red tones on me. It reminded me of Impassioned but darker, muted, and less bright. I don't know if it has anything to do with my pigmented lips, but it still looked gorgeous. However, I don't know if I should truly skip it or just buy it once and for all since it's still available at the store and at Macy's atm. I hope it's still around at least by Tuesday so that I can buy it if I ever make my mind up.

Charmed, I'm Sure looked like a standard red to me, but the MUA thought it looked gorgeous on me. Even though I agreed with her, it still didn't gave me the "oomph" to buy it since I have Russian Red and I thought it looked alike.

Deeply Adored was sold out in the store and the MUA told me that they were probably not going to be re-stocked since everything was going fast. I tried the sample of Deeply Adored and at first I was a bit shocked because I've never worn a dark red lipstick before, but it looked really cool and quite vampy the more I looked at the mirror and felt comfortable. The MUA told me that Deeply Adored is still available at the Macy's, but unfortunately I'm quite tight in money and I get payed next week. If I had at least $20 atm, I would've gone to Macy's and buy that lipstick because it looks like something that may not be re-promoted soon. Maybe I can convince a friend of mine if he can buy me the lipstick tonight, but I'm not sure how that will go and if it's still available at Macy's.

I didn't try the blushes because I wasn't interested in them, but according to the MUA, The Perfect Cheek seems to be the hot pick on that collection along with the lipglosses, and Deeply Adored lipstick. There were running low on the lipglasses, bp (they are probably sold out by now or tomorrow), one of the eyeshadows (I forgot which one it was but it was one of the lighter shades), and many of the lipsticks except for Charmed, I'm Sure and Love Goddess. However, I doubt that most of the items will be on stock at the stores since the MAC store and the one at Macy's are usually full during the night and on weekends.

The MUA told me that the collection was released yesterday in the store (there's only one MAC store in my country, two if the Macy's one is included), which really surprised me, but not many people knew about it. People only knew once they saw the Marilyn promotion poster in the store and asked if they could buy from the collection. That's how Deeply Adored lipstick sold out super fast that day. I forgot to ask if they did a pre-sale of the collection.

It's magic how a lot of products make its way to CCO's.


I believe it is really a logistics issue. It's probably cheaper to ship it directly to CCO's rather than restocking the website. Oh dear....

yes I went to valley fair

my cuzn n I were sitting next to the nordstrom cafe till 8 then we went outside ( I did a few laps going back towards the cafe n Mac store to check for lines while my cuzn waited at the store entrance outside). Nordstroms opened the door at 9:50 and there was about 15-20 ppl behind us. me n her were the first in line to order n she got the last love goddess. no beauty powders... after that we ran to the Mac store but the line was out the front entrance so then we flew to Macy's. they had eyeshadows n nail polish only, so we left. then we decided to go back and my cuzn got the last two nail polishes .the eye shadows were all gone. the sales girl seemed sad and said she didn't get one item from the collection. my box from my 430 am order last week was delivered with all my lipsticks n beauty powder while i was out and waiting for me when i got home

so now im just waiting for my nords order ( which STILL only says label created!) with my phiff dazzle gloss , stage red nail polish. and silver screen eyeshadow. I might end up giving that. ( silver screen) to one of my friends for Xmas since she wasn't able to get anything and shes a huge marilyn fan. I already have preferred blonde and how to marry. I actually had to go back to VF becuz in all that madness, I forgot I had to pick up a $100 gift card for my uncle to give my other cousin. the Mac store had everything set out, but it was all sold out they had no stickers on them or anything I thought that was rude to have it out when there's nothing available! then I went back to nords to put the money on my card for getting my other cousins items and all nords had was liners and nail polish n brow stuff... got on another list for glamour days so hopefully by being on two list I'll get a call to pre order! I def do not want to do this again! ( but I will if its something I hella want lol). and yes it was just like black friday

Glad you got what you wanted. Did you see the guy with the bike helmet on trying to order Charmed Im Sure...must have been for his girlfriend or wife. I am sure he didn't get it but I thought it was cool he did that.

Wow @ these stories. I went to my local store at 1:45pm and to my surprise they had everything in stock and there were at least 25 customers in there. They must have gotten a lot of each item. I was able to get Love Goddess for my nieces. I'm going to tell them they were sold out and add it to their christmas gifts

CAUTION Longggggg Rant Ahead: I have everything I want from this collection... so this complaint doesn't pertain to myself directly, but I DO get upset to see others disappointed. About 1 month ago I took my close friend to the local MAC counter. I helped her pick out a gloss, a couple lipsticks, and a blush. I bought her a new quad of MAC shadows and a gloss from the Vera collection this year for her birthday, and she had been begging me to take her and help her pick out some new goodies ever since. She's obviously new to MAC and has gotten excited about the brand! While we were there, I started chatting w the MUA's about this collection coming up. They, of course, knew VERY little about it and were happy to hear me give them the details. They asked us if we wanted to come to the weekend "Marilyn Monroe Makeover Event" they were having. My friend got so excited I immediately signed us up. They put us down for back to back appts Oct 5 (tomorrow) at 6pm. I knew the collection would launch in stores Oct 4th, but at that point had NO IDEA the insane hype that would ensue! I also didn't think we got our PRO discounts either at this point, so I was happy to get a slot and buy in the store. Today I was at the mall and happened to check in at the counter. Assuming that they MIGHT have held a few items for these appts they were taking. Almost EVERYTHING was SOLD OUT (as I imagined it would be). Nothing had been held. Now, here's where I get upset... They had NO plans to call and tell us! They were going to let us come in tomorrow evening thinking we were getting access to the new MM merchandise, and THEN "just sub perm products for the Marilyn items. They will be EXACTLY the same, just not the Marilyn packaging." That's honestly a quote. My response: "I am a PRO member and oftentimes have to inform you guys about products and launches when I visit here. Are you under the impression I'd set an appt to come to a Marilyn event and be happy to be told I could only purchase perm items?" BLANK FACES! I calmly let it go, cancelled our appts and left the store. Mildly frustrated but trying to be understaning considering they were more than likely unprepared for this collection... THEN my friend calls me ALL EXCITED!! "I just got a call from MAC to confirm our Marilyn Monroe Collection makeovers tomorrow! The lady told me the items were gorgeous and I can't wait to see them! This will be my first MAC haul with you!" Imagine my utter mortification! Not only did the girl call to CONFIRM after 6:30pm (LONGGGGG after everything had been SOLD OUT!) but she led my poor friend to believe they were still accessible and waiting for her the next day! I broke the news to her as sweetly as I could! And now my friend will be surprised with the MAC items I ordered for her during the Nordies launch that I purchased for her (KNOWING this would happen) as soon as they arrive! (1 LG, 1 CIS, 1 BP, and 1 TPC) The POINT: Imagine all the upset appts tomorrow (that these MUA's went out of their way to CONFIRM knowing FULL WELL they had nothing)!! Not even having the courtesy to tell their customers the truth!

You are such a good friend to do that. My store said they were ordering more stock to arrive tomorrow or Monday. I think they held stock for the events but who knows.

This collection was a total nightmare it seems from everyone's stories. I'm home during the day but no way I'd take my daughter into that mess. I hope I'm not alone in having not scored anything so far. I should have a cp coming my way though which is nice but nothing is in my hands yet.

So after about 15 pages I was able to catch up. There was insanity today at the stores, so my husband and I went to the store at about 9:50 because the manager told him to come in a little bit early we walked in thru a side door that was left open for employees only but the manager had told the security guard that it was ok for us to come in a bit early. Now mind you my husband had his military uniform on, we walked to the counter and I told the MUA what I wanted, while she got my stuff it was already 10:00 and the doors were open a big crowed of girls ran into to the counter and started yelling what they wanted the manager immediately told them to form a line behind me and my husband and OMG all hell broke loose they started fighting and arguing about should be in front of the line and pushing yelling and shoving started to happen at this point the MUA with my lipsticks comes out and some crazy chick tried to snatch the lipsticks out of her hands, so the MUA yelled and told the chick that it belonged to me and that she needed to get in line well this crazy chick started yelling that she didn't care if my husband was military or not that she should be the one to get the lipsticks because she got to the MUA first, my husband was annoyed so we just rushed and got our stuff. The more insane part is that the chick was really trying to fight for the lipsticks, mall security showed up right after I got my stuff and they escorted the crazy chick out of the mall with no makeup, the security guy said the she was banned from the mall. I never use my military status or my husbands to get ahead of anyone it just so happened that the manager wanted to be nice to me because my order was cancelled at the other Mac store but some people are just jerks I told that stupid chick that the reason why she even had the freedom to get anything was in part because of me and my husband both doing 3 separate tours each in Iraq ughgh some people are assholes! It's not that serious it's makeup there will be more collections. Anyways I did get 1 of all the lipsticks so all in all I'm happy.

OMG...it sounds like Walmart at Christmas. I can't be more glad that they escorted her out and you told her off.

My story today...I have everything I want except Legendary blush and so my friend wanted to meet me at the mall to shop for shoes anyways so I thought wth I can try. I get to Nordstroms around 10am and think "no crowd great. but forgot about everyone already being in the mall so of course when I got there everything is gone. I head to Mac and a long line. I decide to wait a little while thinking the line would move quick...no way. Took me about an hour and it barely moved. I don't know why when everyone was there for the same products. At some point they came out with cards and we wrote what we wanted on them. They saw I wanted just the blush and were like "no problem". When I was almost at the door they came out and told us all the lipsticks were gone. Then soon everything was gone (I suspect when people couldn't get the lippies they just wanted something). Then one of the SAs (she could have been the manager I don't know) said that she was ordering more stock that would be there Friday or Monday. We could preorder now and they would call us to pick our items up. I was fine with that but then suddenly I couldn't do that. They could just call me if they had any left. Meanwhile in line someone told me Alabama had everything so I called them and placed my order. Same as with Stereo Rose (that came from Tennessee) when Nordstroms presold my msf at their trend show a few days before I came to pick it up.

I think there were about 40 people in front of me. Everyone was very nice and no yelling or rude behavior at all even when they told us everything was gone. Security came around but just left. The SA told me she only let people have 1 or 2 of items. She was very apologetic and especially bad for me because I only wanted one item (she didn't know I already had my stuff coming to me of course). The only thing that annoyed me was three different ladies came up to me (why me I don't know) and asked what was going on. I told them it was the Marilyn Monroe collection and they just stared and said "are they giving away free makeup?" It was like we were fools for standing in line. I say

to you and if I want to stand in line and wait for a blush I will. I should have told her yes so she would stand in line too.

If they call me and tell me they have items in stock I will post her.

Oh and how could I forget...today BP and Phiff arrived. Ever since the talk of BPs came up I grabbed my Play It Proper and have been used it allover and love it...it is so glowy. After I go through that I will use FM. The glow reminds me of Guerlain Meteorites which I use as a daily highlighter. When I run out of BPs I will look for meteorites with peach in them. I really really really love the dazzleglass. I don't care if MM never wore glitter on her lips I do and it is so gorgeous.

Finally I get to play with MM too!!!

Shipping took forever to Cali! But when I got home today from my (12 hour) shift there was my beautiful black box waiting for me!

This is soooo late but I let myself play with the BP, the SI l/s, and the Legendary blush. And yes there is Elvis himself on the wall of my bathroom. Can you see why I NEEDED this collection? LOL. The BP is a little light for me in the summer (I don't leave the house without sunscreen, ever, so my face stays light but I use a darker color in summer because I can never help but pick up a tan on my body.) But I am going to looooove it in the winter. Already regretting not getting a bu .Lol.

I'm also very dissapointed. I came to my local counter a week earlier and had expressed to the MA how much i was looking forward to the collection and how nervous i was that it would sell out before i could purchase anything so she asked for my name and the items i wanted, wrote it down on a piece of paper and told me she'd set them aside for me to pick up on oct.4 . I came in today and everything had sold out except 1 beauty powder. Nothing was put aside. I'm so bummed. They are also using permanent items for the event tommorow.

i know how you feel. My pre order was cancelled, and only got to know it when I did a follow up myself prior release. that moment, I was thinking about the other customers who pre order and probably would be more disappointed if only found out their order being cancelled on the release day. : (
Anyway, I 'learn" a lesson, in future will always go back to my favorite SA for orders. One of them would actually call me one day before the collection released, checking on order.

But thanks to the people here, they always here to help, and share info,so I manage to grab one bp, lipstick on line..

i took my chance to try the products, since am waiting for my order to arrive next week. BP was a bit pale on me, it is a bit chalky (or may be it is my wrong way in applying it), but it can cover dark circles...so, I should be able to find ways to use it. Love goddess pulls more pink on me, and it is softer, so it is meeting my expectation and I like the finish.

Make sure you're not trying to use the discount code. It doesn't work on beauty products and won't let you check out. Also, the free shipping isn't working properly so you may want to call them in the morning if they charge you for it.
