MAC - Starflash Discussion

I wanted to use all my current starflash shadows today and it's way different for me but so pretty! I tried to take pictures and it looks semi-ok in iphoto but once i upload to photobucket it's wash-out city so it's not really worth it 'cause it doesn't do it justice at all.

This is what I did though:
Sunset B inner half of eye
Top Hat outer "v"
Smoke & Diamonds in crease and smoked out pretty high (GAH this shadow looks good with everyyy single color of the rainbow, I may need a backup!)
Mink & Sable outer lower lash line
Lotusland inner lower lash line
Then I just used Solar White as a tear duct and brow highlight.

I can't wait until I get Bold & Brazen and Glamour Check! tomorrow. I am soooo excited, I already think I may need backups of those two as well. =P

I'm branching out into more 'color' these days - I tend toward a more natural look but love everyone's enthusiasm about teals/blues, etc. So I came up with a Talent Pool look that seems to work for me without being too 'much'. I used Rubenesque p/p, and layered Bold & Brazen over that, over the whole lid. Lotus Land on the outer third, with Talent Pool in the crease and slightly above. I then 'penciled in (with a 219 brush) a smidge of Lotus Land just between the Talent Pool and the highlighted browbone. I highlighted with Grand Entrance (of course), lined with Mystery. I buffed/blended everything and think I'm now hooked on teals!

This is really a way to use many e/s with one look

If you can't get a second face for using all you've got just use a bit more!

I swatched Bold & Brazen and really wanted to like it. On me (NW20) it looks a lot like Expensive Pink (at least close enough not to get it) and I have Two to Glow.
Go was just another brown and I am not interested in them any more

Glamour Check was way to red for me to pull off. Grand Entrance reminded me a lot of Shore Leave: Just too much for me.
But Lotusland is very much what I was looking for and the texture was good. Same for Top Hat, although it was a lot less creamy than Lotusland.
Not to rain on anyones parade, just my impression.

the MA i saw at MAC yesterday had the most beauuutiful combo on her lid! it was talent pool all over the lid, with Top Hat in the outer crease and Lotusland in the inner side of the crease - with a darker blue on the lower lid & a bid of talent pool[b/] near the tear duct.

Made me almost buy talent pool, but I had to remind myself I have parrot & never use that so why buy another color to never use?

still, if you ladies have these shadows try this combo it's gorgeous!

i felt the EXACT same way about Glamour Check - seeing it in the pot - i was like NO WAY could i pull that off, but the MA put it in my crease w/ bold & brazen & i was sold! i don't have expensive pink so bold & brazen was a must have for me

i also love top hat & potentially want to love lotusland, only the colour payoff is so bad (i'm going to try it over gracious me SS next or nice vice PP & see if that works) - that's funny that yours is a better texture then top hat, cause w/ mine it's the opposite... wonder if there's only a problem with some of these?

Hmm, colours with red are tricky on me. I look very fast like I was in a bar fight or cried myself to sleep for the last week.
I can definitely see it with blue eyes. Mine are brown-green. But maybe I need to go back and really try Glamour Check on my eyes and not just on my hand.

The texture of S&D is soo much better than anything I have seen before. I will love this one a lot. But I was hoping Top Hat was more like this in texture.
And Feline is just the most creamiest liner I have ever seen.

I posted a comparison of Sweet Sienna and Smoke & Diamonds in the swatch thread to make sure they weren't too similar so I know if I need a backup of SD. I definitely DO, they are nothing alike on me, SD is lighter (yet still as pigmented) and more grey. I also threw in Mothbrown for the heck of it. =)

I LOVE Climate Blue *snicker*....over Smoke & Diamonds!!!

Then if you want a lil different dramatic look you can put Glamour Check in crease & just slightly above & in towards nose & in outer v, & along lash lines over your liner.

I freaking love this color, it's a chameleon and so incredibly unique IMO.

who knows, it may not work for everyone alike

i do have blue eyes so that may be the kicker, but i definitely feel you on the anxiety of just seeing it in the pot cause i thought it was too..umm..Bold & brazen *snicker* for me! lol but i'm very happy with it

but i agree S&D is my all time favorite

soo amazing, i even bought TWO backups!!! I also have Sweet Sienna and didn't think this was in any way a dupe! they are similar, sure, but you can't beat the buttttttter!

i think S&D has the bext texture of all. IMO Grand Entrace & even Bold and Brazen are almost even more similar to lustres in the way they seem to jumps out of the pot even when you're not touching me (the sparkle/shimmer that is) lol

I broke out my Going Bananas a little while ago......I'll be teaming it up with S&D and Bold & Brazen tomorrow over Cash Flow p/p......I'm so glad I got B&B....I'm amazed at what I can do with it! So far Dream Maker is my least favorite, and Go is just ok. But the others are keepers! I ordered backups of Sunset B and S&D today - now I'm thinking I should have done the same for GE and Mystery k/p. I rediscovered Mystery today and I have to say that I like it almost more than Raven, which is one of my all-time go-to liners.

i love all the e/s i got from this collection, but i didnt get mink and sable because i'd read it's just like sumptuous olive (which i have). after thinking about it all weekend, i went back to the counter yesterday with my sumptuous olive in hand (ok, in my purse

). i swatched, they did look the same on me.
and on me, they both show up as a darkish gold. the 'olive' part isnt apparent.

soooo, is there a current perm. mac e/s that is similar but show up more green?

Top hat looks a lot like Cinders from holiday '06 trend palette, and S&D looks like BB rockstar diamond dust without all the glitter, i'd be very grateful if someone can compare these 4 me.

I have been trying (oh so hard) to avoid the new collections... and then yesterday i saw the starflash info on a blog.

i nearly keeled over in a dead faint. these are so gorgeous!!

i need help staying strong on my no buy... i really want some of these now

I depoted mine last night with no problems they are like all the eye shadow containers.I'm using only lighter it's faster

I was just daydreaming at my desk here at work about how amazing the following colors would be with a Starflash finish:

Emerald green
Crimson red
Gunmetal grey
Fiery orange
True gold

LOL... as you can see, I'm not being very productive today!
