I posted info about lipstick formulas pages back. An Amplified is an Amplified. It's one singular formula.
I couldn't find Amplified listed in your Lipstick Portfolio post, only Amplified Creme. @montREALady and I were confused as to whether they were 2 separate formulas or not.

I am not sure either! When you google there are a lot of posts on MAC Lipstick formulas where there is mention of both amplified and amplified creme. (atleast there used to be both??)

http://www.thesundaygirl.com/2012/12/a-guide-to-mac-cosmetics-part-2.html

Amplified: To me this packs all the pigmentation of a matte formula only without the drying quality
and with a light sheen finish. Unlike some MAC formula's these are opaque and really do pack a punch
when it comes to colour pay off, fairly long lasting with 3-4 hours of wear.

Summed Up - Great for bold colour without going down the matte route.
Amplified Creme: Amplified Creme lipsticks combine all the pigmentation of the Amplified formula

coupled with the creamy, high gloss finish of the cremesheen formulation.
Highly pigmented and hydrating but a little prone to slipping and bleeding, the wear time is also slightly
affected with this quality and tends to be around the 2 hour mark.
Summed Up - Comfortable, highly pigmented moisturising lip colour with a creamy sheen quality.

I thought they were one and the same since my Amp lipsticks come with both descriptions. This is too much now, I feel like I'm studying for an exam

. Though Amplified Creme hits the nail on the head when it comes to Heaux Pt Deux. Though I wouldn't call it "highly pigmented"...definitely "high gloss".

When I got Tribalist last year, the MAC website said it was a frost (that's why I got it in the first place). When I received it over the weekend and saw it was Amped, I felt disappointed but it's a nice lipstick. It still is a nice lipstick today, This whole Faux Heaux thing has happened before
Yes, now I remember that whole Frost thing with Tribalist last year lol!

Going by The Sunday Girl's descriptions your Faux Heaux seems like an Amplified Creme and not an Amplified As Jon Stewart continues eating his popcorn lol

Amplified is "shorthand" for Amplified Creme. I've never once told someone the lipstick they like is an Amplified Creme. We just called them "Amplified." What I shared is what MAC's official "curriculum" is. You don't have to listen to it or believe it, I was just sharing what the company, not MAC customer service, but the actual professionals that formulate and create the lipsticks gave to us.

I think the confusion comes because the bullet just says Amplified and the box says Amplified Creme. I don't they were implying what you shared was not believable or not. I feel like some of the information you shared should be on MAC's website. That is information that people new to MAC or looking to try a new formula would be interested in knowing. Do the people who work for MAC Chat and MAC's telephone CS have to go to updates and what not like the instore artists are required to? I feel like they would be better equipped to answer the barrage of questions they get every collection if they did or at least if their line manager did.

Yes and I think some people may not even notice that each are labelled differently so whatever they look at first, box or under the tube, is how they refer to the lipstick. Nordstrom MAC/Beauty chat people seem to be very knowledgeable and one told me she goes to updates.

I was never questioning the validity of your info. I had no idea Amplified was shorthand for Amplified Creme. What I do wonder is where The Sunday Girl got her info that they are 2 separate finishes

I think this is why I thought they were 2 separate finishes, because MAC is still putting the Amplified Creme label on the lipsticks.
Hmmmm. Totally understandable. Of course out of the 4 I have they all say Amplified only on the bottom of the tube. Boxes- AC.

Only seeing this clearly now because of @Howards End  but it's so funny because having swatched both, I would say their labels are reversed if we were going with the The Sunday Girl definitions, ha! MM is less shiny and more opaque from what I remember.
I agree about MM being more opaque than Heaux deux, but I don't remember about how shiny it is. I guess I got thrown off because the shade number stamps...one is 'A...,' and the other is 'AC...'. Just weird. LOL, this is all just so intense.

I wonder the same thing. All of a sudden NC42 Studio Finish Concealer was back ordered and I have a ton of Somali clients who (specifically/culturally ask for that kind of coverage) and, as we all know MAC's track record with randomly discontinued products no one knew about until it's too late, I freaked out that they'd done away with that specific color. I hopped on MAC Chat and asked because MAC hadn't sent anything out about a discontinuation, but sometimes when a product is out of stock for a long time.. It turns out it was just discontinued without an official announcement. Anyway, the person was courteous and matter of fact, but it was clear that they were working from a script and knew no more than I did.

I can't help but think part of the CS ignorance is due to little or no sales pressure. These days, to keep your job at MAC, you have to meet your revenue "goals." If you don't, you're officially documented. Plain and simple. Revenue has just completely taken over the company, which I think pertains to @montREALady's comment below.

MAC rarely advertises in magazines etc. (they used to brag about how they didn't at all... but that's no longer true) because so much goes into keeping artists trained and up to date. Update and Basic Training are very expensive, they're time employees are paid for while not generating revenue for the company. It's hard for me to believe that MAC would put that kind of money into a faceless CS employee. I hope that's untrue, but I don't think it is. :(

You likely thought this because this is the MAC we used to know.

When I started with the company five years ago, working for MAC was a huge deal and an extremely coveted position. Unfortunately, at least in my region, many quality employees (especially tenured Artists) have left after years of employment. The objectives of the company have changed; though obviously there's a focus on artistic ability, what really matters is whether or not you can sell. I had no retail background and it probably took me a year to finally to fully learn what was expected of me, and how to generate thousands of dollars as an individual.

Idk. If there are other employees or ex-employees shaking their heads at what I'm disclosing, please shoot me a PM. I don't want to jeopardize anything Specktra has... And I can't think of a way any of this would, but sometimes I get passionate about educating and sharing my experience.

Which is so totally valid. We just have to remember who it is we're working with.. and all of their.. endearing mistakes they make.
