MAC Warm & Cozy Collection

I bought today the By Candlelight MSF as I had planned. Oh what a pretty color this is. I already had the Porcelain Pink and this is similar but totally different. I found this very creamy and soft (my PP is quite dry). The shade is a peachier and more pigmented than Porcelain Pink.

I swatched also the TLC's and almost bought the Feelin' Good TLC. It's really pretty pink, but I already have the Fuchsia Fix. I couldn't justify myself to buy another TLC when I'm addicted to

.

Tick tock tick tock! I'm still waiting. I really want By Candlelight and a couple of shadesticks... Every day the money I have saved dwindles a bit (hello Primer Potion and 24/7 liner collection!). I am having to shorten my list daily. I'm this close to buying Sigma brushes too and then I'll have no money left at all!

(that told me how helpful she would be ). moving on, i checked out the blushes and she tested Gentle on me. for some reason, she packed it on one cheek and i looked at the mirror in semi-horror since it looked like i had a rash. i tried to rub some off and it just made it look worse. i gave up on this MA who apparently didn't know what she was doing and was giving me totally wrong advice (though i heard Gentle is a great shade if put on w/ a "light hand") after a few more questions which still left me more put off by her answers, i decided to go w/ my gut and ended up with: Chamomile, Mulled Cider, Sketch (which i'd been dying for), and my standard Viva Glam V. as for the MA, i tried to be nice to her and thanked her and she just looked at me blankly. i left content but also ticked that i didn't get the By Candlelight and looking like i had a "rash" on my face. thank goodness i was heading home!

Ugh that sucks...and her rationale makes no sense. I don't know anyone pale enough to use Lightscapade such that it would be dark enough for anything other than a highlight. Definitely go back and steer clear of that MA!

ok after all the raves i decided to give by candlelight a try and boy am i glad i did!
i have to use a light hand since it is very pigmented (i'm nw15).
i keep looking at my cheeks in the mirror and the shimmery goodness that is this msf!
if you haven't already, go and try it out!

So I went to see Warm & Cozy today. I came home with Modelette, Mulled Cider, Cuddle, Feeling Dreamy, 2N, By Candlelight, both TLC's and the body lotion.

Originally I wasn't going to get MC, but it looked nice when I swatched it and it was something that I didn't remember to have a dupe of in my collection. It also wasn't as warm as I thought it would be, it was a bit more plummy brown than reddish brown I think. Modelette was nice and neutral, could make an awesome blending colour. Chamomille was okay, but I didn't find it too unique. Embark I thought I could get anytime later so I didn't take a further look at it.

2N was a bit darker than FD on my hand, so that's why I picked them both (and FD wasn't like Icescape so that was good too), they both looked something I could wear any day with any look - neutral and subtle. I didn't even swatch the TLC's because they were something I just had to have.

The stand was missing the Warm & Cozy s/s, so I didn't get to swatch that one. The only one I got was Cuddle, which was quite unique and it came out much more yellowy gold than the stick itself looks. Very nice, it reminded me a bit of Solar White eyeshadow. Relaxed was almost the same as Constructivist p/p so I left it there. Nurture was nice, but nothing superspecial.

By Candlelight is smooth and pigmented, mine had some pretty gold veining to it. It is a nice highlighter.

I tested the body lotion on the back of my hand and it felt very light and something that would absorb quickly. Not greasy at all.

All in all I think this was a pretty nice collection!

I went back to mac today and got a few shadows to build my collection. I played with W&C again, though. I think Chamomille and Mulled Cider are fantastic. I walked away without them, though but I'm going back soon (probably for lillyland or I'll just order them). Also, 2N alone, on me, seems horrible, but I think it would look nice over Warm Me Up Lipstick. I would get 2N, but I'm not crazy for WMU, so I may just cut my loses.

I forgot to mention in my earlier posting that I also purchased the Care Blends Essential Oil Grapefruit and Chamomile. I have sensitive skin and winter can sensitize it even more. Now I have tried this oil on my face and I'm glad that I bought this one. My skin feels amazingly soft and calm. I hope that this won't let me down.

It seems I haven't posted in awhile as I never bought any of the holiday collections and then my family came to town so I couldn't go to Mac till they left. If my mom saw how much I spend on makeup she would faint. Here are my thoughts.

On the eyeshadows all that came home with me was modelette and I was iffy about that till she put it on my lid. It was a nice neutral color I see myself using it a lot for quick looks or to blend with. I really wanted to like chamomile but it didn't really show up as a highlight color on my pale skin. So i'll stick with shroom. I didn't mind mulled cider but felt I had something close to it already and embark is perm and chalky feeling so I didn't even swatch it this time around.

Shadesticks are one of my fav things and I got cuddle which is a gorgeous yellow gold. I can't wait to wear it under colors to really make them pop. Warm and Cozy was a little less creamy then the others probably because of the glitter but it was so pretty and I love copper colors. Also got relaxed as I love browny bronze colors and this was so creamy. Nurture wasn't there, they never got it in so I may order it online.

Out of the lipsticks all that interested me was Warm me up which was such a nice neutral one, plus it had an amplified finish one of my favorite finishes.

I told myself I wasn't going to get any lipglass as I have a ton but i couldn't resist feeling dreamy, it looks so pretty on top of warm me up lipstick. I would say it's a pinky beige with really pretty pink shimmer. I didn't swatch the others as I was trying to be good.

I don't care much for msfs because they tend to break me out so I didn't swatch them. I know the by candlelight was already sold out though.

Last was the nail polish I got blissed out which i thought was a pretty cream neutral beige pink with a hint of shimmer. I dunno how it applies as I haven't worn it yet. And I keep thinking about Dim the Lights as it's such a nice creamy dark chocolate color but without being blackish or redish brown. I may order this one online as well.

All in all i'm happy with this collection. I'll take swatches after the big snow storm passes.

That's crazy how you European ladies have to wait til the middle of January for this collection!

previously it was said that by candlelight had no veining, mine that i received from mac did not have any, but the backup i got at Mac at dillards was laden with gold veining, and it's just as beautiful

it's true though, this replaces porcelain pink and is a million times better than it.

I was back at the counter today, and I got my MA to let me try on Nurture s/s. She then applied Chamomile all over the s/s and Mulled Cider at the outer third of the eye. What a great neutral look for the eyes!

She also put 2N over Warm Me Up lipstick (which is a nice neutral color btw), and it was awesome.

The 2 MSFs from this collection also really compliment each other. Apply Comfort on the cheekbones, and By Candlelight on the apples and viola, you've got perfect, lovely glowy cheeks!

4 days have passed, and I'm feeling better already! I didn't shed a single tear today, so proud of myself.

I also went back for Part 2 of my haul, and am finally done with this collection. What a pity the TLCs didn't make it into my country though.
