I was in Times Square when the results started to come in...I have never experienced anything remotely close to this in my lifetime. I'm at a loss for words.

I wish I could have been in my home country to witness Obama's victory. I was at work here in Melbourne and no where near a television. There was a lady in my shop from Minnesota who got a call from her daughter back in the States while I was helping her, and she told me Obama had won. It was a really happy moment for me but at the same time I was sad that the streets were empty and no one else around me was really feeling it. I'm glad that you ladies and gents were there though, and I'm sure you cheered loud enough for all of us abroad so thank you

Honestly I never thought I would be alive to see the day that an African-American person or a woman would became president. I'm happy that one of these things has happened and I look forward to being around for our first female president! It is really a beautiful moment in history and I feel like something really, really good has happened for a change. I hope that President Obama has a long, and healthy run as our president and that he can not only bring our country together but unite us again with the rest of the world. He certainly has inspired alot of people and he really is a beacon of hope for the world.

My friends and I in the UK admit to shedding a few tears of joy.

I am relieved. I might even think about moving back home to Texas, someday soon, even though Texas is a red state. McCain didn't win Texas as thoroughly as Bush did in 2000 and 2004. Obama made some gains there too.

FINALLY justice has been served to every american. I think people FINALLY woke the F up and realized that they NEED to be active in controlling their own lives. We sat on our asses for too long and let idiots like Bush do whatever he wanted and now look? unemployment is at an all time low, people are foreclosing on their houses, older people are having to find jobs. I mean for being a hegemonic super power, we sure were doing a shitty job.

all I am saying is that John McCain put up a good fight, his speech was respectful and I am elated that Obama won, I really feel like he understands the 'everyday' person, the struggles of being middle class and what it feels like to be a minority. I am also glad that African American's came out in droves, I ONLY HOPE that they continue to take active roles in our government in the future. I am middle eastern and I know far too well what Racism feels like, Its humbling and refreshing to see some REAL CHANGE in the white house.

PS.I dont think this election was only about race.

PPS. I hope elizabeth is in a corner crying somewhere

PPPS. Obama for 2012 [S.Palin move the eff on]

I cried no let me be truthful I bawled my eyes out!!
Then I said a little prayer that God protects him from the nut jobs out there, then my phone BLEW UP!!

Even my republican cousin said he felt a lil pride that Obama won, lol

I think all the cute little avatars are nice, but he's not superman he's a man and what I as an immigrant along with basically the rest of the world wants to see is a movement of peace and a stop to a heavy handedness the US has used recently
What I want to see as an immigrant living in this country is education that is worth something (my son goes to school in my home country because the school system where I live SUCKS!!), that people get the US will never be what it was in the 60's and it needs to change how it educates the youth to make them entrepreneurs, inventors and have them think outside the box! No Ameican will work for what a poor Chinese will, those jobs are not coming back! There needs to be a whole new class of jobs to make up for that.
I want to see heathcare that I don't have to make a mortgage payment on per month and still when I get si ck need a payment plan for the hospital bill, and then I'm told that's "good insurance"
th_dunno.gif

I think that Obama gets that, I think living outside of the US as a kid, coming from a family that's not rich, working in the community gives him a unique view point, and I want to see him put that to work, I look forward to seeing him pull in Warren Buffet and other innovators to get this moving and I hope that the senate and congress will be coopertive.

And dude 4 years from now if he hasn't gotten some of that rolling, I'm going to feel sooo sorry for him when he's crucified in the court of public opinion

The whole time I've been watching the coverage I've been thinking "I'd give anything to be over there experiencing it!" You are so lucky to have been there! They've been showing some of the footage here from Times Square, even on the TV the electricity in the crowd is palpable, My favourite scene was when they just showed the raised hands of the crowd, all you can see are hands of every single different colour.

I am so estatic! This victory is everyones to share no matter what color, social background, religion, etc.. Obama's victory restored my faith in a better tomorrow for all of us!

But just as we celebrate, I am sure there are people that aren't as jubilant, let's please pray for Obama's safety while in office.

I was watching the live coverage a bit before bed but it was still way too early to tell. The first thing I heard this morning on the radio was that Obama won. I'm so happy for you Americans that voted for him, I hope he'll make the changes that you are in need of. He seems like a genuine, positive person who really wants change.

I honestly hope that having Obama as a president will further world peace and stability.

Yes, Mr Obama, you do lol.
As a non-American Obama supporter, I want to say thanks to those who voted for him, because if I could of then I would of.
...and here's to the next four years being led by a great man with great principles, and in my opinion, great politics.
