It just makes sense. For the same reason that you dont see nascar commercials in the north (simple comparison but easy to understand) because its just not as popular as in the south.

I dont give a rats butt if they dont make it in my color. All that means is that they dont want my nc45 money

That white bitch..ot that spanish chick (even tho im not spanish).. when they dont even kno me. (JUST A LIFE EXPERIENCE) imo SOME people of color are more racist than anything. AND IN THAT I MEAN NOT JUST TOWARDS WHITE (AND CAN BE WITHIN OWN RACE) (LIGHT SKINNED DARKSKINNED ASIAN -KOREANS WHATEVER) This is not about the makeup line this is something deeper.. something that stems from self issues( FRUSTRATED BY LACK OF PRODUCT AVAILIBILTY OR MARKETING FOR THIER RACE OR GENDER). So maybe they read into it a little deeper........ There are plenty of lines that carry things for woc.. fashion fair for example...designed for black women... beautiful line...whitening creams was there best seller??? I worked for Lancome...tanning lotions was one of our best sellers?? i love to get a tan..not cause i want to be another color but cause i feel i look healther when i have a little glow to my skin . So its not a racial issue for a line to advertise something they feel the majority of the ppeople are looking for ... in this i mean ALL WOMEN of color are looking for something to brighten thier skin...take spots away...whatever. If thier are issues with these lines than move on to one more suitable...but dont make a race issue out of it. (JUST AND EXAMPLE) would be like whites complaining about bet (black entertainment television)(which i watch).. NOw if WHOEVER had persay wet (white entertainment televison) they would be ??? racists and it would be taken off the air in a min. things in this world will never be wholly racial. Thats a fact. Its called demographics and marketing. unfrtnly its all about money. what sells.

How funny that you would think that some People of color are the most racist. Last time I checked, we were not the ones wearing white robes and hoods down town, on a Saturday, the day of both university graduations when there are thounsands of people in from all over the country to see their loves one graduate or handing out fliers on your local Wal-Mart parking lot. It's the reason my Dad does not go to Wal-Mart today. But, that's just my opinion. And no, I would not care if there was a WET, White Entertainment Teleivision, because I watch CMT and I love NASCAR. This thread was never about race until a few people added their two cents and tried to make it about race. I believe it's safe to say that now, Specktra is divided and will never be in harmony again.

Just because there are a few lines aimed for POC doesn't mean that they're any good. The ones off the top of my head that I know of are drug store brands or have a very, very small collection. I don't mean to knock something before I try it, but it's probably similar to all drugstore makeup. I'm going to guess everyone on this board buys at least 50% non-drugstore makeup. I totally understand being upset with a company not having products for you; I don't love that Victoria's Secret hasn't carried bras for me for a long time, even though I don't think my last two sizes were that unusual. However, I'm don't think it's intentionally discriminatory.

Oh, this site's had worse race issues. I hate sounding flippant, but it's true, and we all came out of it not hating each other, I think.

Where did this happen? You mean the Ku Klux Klan?

And just because someone has darker skin doesn't mean they can't be racist. It has happened. I have seen it.

Even though I believe everyone on this planet can be racist, there are philosophies about how minorities cannot be racist in a world where the majority of power is held by white people; even though I haven't heard it, I imagine in certain parts of the world, where there is an ethnic majority, the philosophy would be you cannot be racist against that majority but you can be racist against everyone else. From what I understand of this philosophy is that if you don't have power to like prevent people from getting a job or something like that, you cannot be racist.

Before people get upset, I do not hold this belief at all and that's only my understanding of it. I've seen plenty of racism happen all time, from all sorts of people.

I never said that People of Color are not racist but I do not believe we are the most racist. I believe that we all have preconceived notions about people of a different race and or region. At some point we have all had irrational attitude or hostility directed against someone or a group that is different from us. It's kind of like when people of color try to talk about something that is one-sided and then someone says we are trying to cause trouble, play the race card, beat a dead horse, or whatever else was said. It was just a discussion and turned into anything but.

My great aunt applied for food stamps in Virginia. She was told by the black social worker (or whatever they are called) that she was not approved because she is white. Point blank. No other reason given. Trust me, my aunt should have gotten them at the time.

I was called a "stupid white girl" by a black university administrator. As in "You can't get that grant, you are not a minority. Stupid white girl." I had no idea that the research grant that I was inquiring about was earmarked for minorities only. What I knew was that it was avaliable and research money is hard to come by.

Racism is racism. It should not be about who is the most racist. I accept people the way they are. I can't proclaim perfection so why should I expect it of anyone else.

I think that the reason people get upset is because there are some (not all by any stretch) who see racism in absolutely everything. "Lightful" turned into "Lightness". There are real acts of racism and serious racists out there. By turning everything into racism, it reduces the seriousness of real acts. That is really my issue. I also believe that racism is universal in all its horrific forms. It can be commited by anyone.

Yup I agree. Racism has been so watered down in this country, no one knows what Racism really is anymore. So people stop caring about the really serious issues because they are over the issue already because of all the small pointless ones they have dealt with 100x before.

Welcome to a PC society.

how in the hell did the KKK get into this discussion.

First things first: The topic is regarding makeup industry and MAC's color story that could have a racist undertone. With racist meaning: Why do they not have more black models than usual- and what is the perception of beauty in the U.S.

HOW does the KKK fit into this?

Simply put- it doesn't. Now we're just dragging more crap into this.

lets keep it on the beauty industry topic and not give the KKK any free advertisements!

I'm sorry, (and please don't take this as me condoning their points of view) but why are they (the KKK) not allowed their point of view? Isn't that part and parcel of being an American?

I may not agree with their point of view, or what they have to say, but I'll defend to the death their right to say it.

They are allowed. I'm still trying to figure out how the hell they got in this discussion. I just don't think that them being in this discussion is helping a peaceful form of discussion and only fueling more heated debate.

Sort of like throwing gasoline or alcohol on a fire.

People or groups with such RACIST AND RIDICULOUS points of views do not have a right to their opinion. People who commit such acts and hold such beliefs are not human. They're disgusting bodies (they have no merit to be human) who thrive on the suffering and hatred they possess for minority groups.

You may not like what they have to say, but they sure have the right to say it. It's part of America, you don't have to like them, they don't have to like you, and we go on.

why not? It's in the bill of rights.

And I quote:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

They most certainly do have the right.

We just don't have to like it.
