Beige-ing is being discontinued as well? Can anyone confirm this or is it just a rumour? I will have to get several back-ups in this case, this stuff is perfect for pigments.

I was under the impression from this thread that ALL shadesticks were being discontinued now that they've released the paint pots. If not, then, phew....

MissChievous, this is the post that I was going by. Maybe priss can clarify for us?

Sharkskin now has the triangle of death next to it. :'(
NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE this shadestick other than Sea Me!!!
I might just pick-up ANOTHER back-up of it, though I had bought one already.

Is blackground paint pot comparable to Sharkskin at all?

I don't really know if they were on the list or not. But the site definitely shows that it's being discontinued.

Hm, seems like diff locations are getting diff information about what is being DC'ed. Oh god if Sharkskin is maybe going, I'd better get a backup of that too. I just got it recently and it's excellent for smokey eyes and darker colors.

But yeah, Sharksin, Overcast, and Silverbleu now have the Triangle of Death next to them! Why are they replacing Shadesticks with the crappy paint pots??? Gah!!! So annoying. I guess they weren't selling as well because people don't know how to use them, but honestly, it's a superior product to the paint pots.

@ darkishstar - I have read on MUA that the Blackground pp gets some medoice reviews, worse than the other pp's. That's why I didn't buy it.

Well, I'm swapping for one of the pp's (Rubenesque) to try out the medium, but so far I haven't been enthralled enough to buy one full price.

I actually like Paint Pots.. and I'm willing to try out Blackground. On the MAC Online Chat, the MUA said it's a great substitute. The things people complained about with Sharkskin is generally the same things that people complained about with Blackground (how it's not easy to blend), so it shouldn't be a problem for me.

That said, I do love my shadesticks.

When I went to get my heatherette stuff, I went to two different counters and I asked two MAs about this. One said that they were just phasing some colors out (but to be honest, she didn't seem to know for sure) and the second said that shadesticks were on their way out but that they were trying to find a way to keep certain colors like beige-ing because they sell a lot.

I'm sooooo sad.

Sigh... I think I'm going to have to go run up my credit card. My local MAC still has colours like Mangomix and Royal Hue! Mmm, pretty colours. I sometimes feel like MAC has a hate on for purple, what with Royal Hue gone, along with non-conformist and iris eyes fluidlines...

I asked an MA at a Pro store, and he was pretty sure that MAC would not discontinue the shadesticks completely, just because they are extremely popular with a large fan-base (especially the folks who do quickie make-up before running out the door). They are probably just editing down the color selection to cut down on production for unpopular colors, which makes sense.

I have never used/bought a shadestick...im just thinking that they are like any eyepencil. So, are this better than the paints, pain pots, or udpp???? or what is the all the fuzz...dont they crease, AT ALL? do they stay longer than pt's, pp's,udpp??

I'm not bothered by this news at all. I have one Shadestick, and it's inconvenient to have to warm it up if I want to use it..it creases and it tugs my eyelids. I own every Paint Pot, and they are the only reason I can wear eye shadow all day. No creasing, and I put them on with my finger; much more convenient then holding a Shadestick under a hairdryer, then dragging it across my poor lids. I DO love the color of Fresh Cement though.

I have to say I do like paint pots and my absolute favourite base in general is bare canvas paint. However, I find there's just no dupe for some of the shadestick colours (such as Royal Hue and Mangomix). I also like how shadesticks really punch up the colour of shadows.

For any Canadians that are looking for discontinued shadesticks, I know that the Montreal PRO store on Boulevard St Laurent (phone number 1 514 287 9297) definitely still has crimsonaire, mangomix, corn, blurburry and cedarrose, as I just ordered from them (my local MAC just sold out of Mangomix, cry!). It'd be worth giving them a shout about any other colours, too. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I am really upset about them discontinuing sharkskin and royal hue. I am not sure if blackground will work as well. I seem to always love things that get discontinued!
