Metal-X Discussion

Hrm... would a base underneath help with the whole creasing thing? Or would the creaminess cancel out the base? Oh, I was so looking forward to these!!

As for the glitterliners... they sound almost the same except for "multi-coloured glitter", lol... I don't think there's enough of a difference to justify getting them if you have all the previous ones... tho Blitzed looks different from Glamourgold in the product pic.

Sooo I'm not too sure what that manager was talking about :X

Update: I went to a different MAC location and was told that the shadows are not crease-resistant - but I'm really happy to hear that you've had good luck with them...I REALLY want them all, the colors look so vibrant!

got to see these today in the store when I checked out Of Beauty. SOOOOO PRETTY! But am a bit worried, I mentioned that I heard they weren't crease resistant but the MA said that a base like paint would help prevent that. I don't believe it, I happen to think they will prob crease like the dickens. But so nice in the pot. Dilemma!! lol

How are they compared to Cream Color Bases?

The pot size looks the same, and the consistency sounds pretty close (since CCB's can crease if not layered with something else).

Pic is of goldspice metal-x over UDPP with bronze e/s, goldmine e/s, and ricepaper e/s <click me>.

*KT* THANK YOU for posting a picture of the Metal X eyeshadows. The color looks so beautiful. I can tell that in the PM picture it does look like it creases a little bit but its hard to notice unless you are really looking at it carefully. But it looks like the color stays put and doesn't wear off. That's a good sign! BTW, did you use anything as a base or did you just use the eyeshadow on your lid as is?

yeah i thought so. i remember hearing somewhere that the working names for these glitter liners were oxidate etc. i couldnt understand why everyone was getting excited about these liners, especially when they already bought the same ones earlier on :S MAC really needs to pick up their game

She used UDPP as her base.

i just got virgin silver, fusion gold, and 6th sin today. all are very pretty. i'm going to give them the ultimate test tomorrow...wearing them to thanksgiving dinner, where the house will be 100 degrees from all the cooking and humid as hell from all the people. if they crease...they'll be going back. they were too expensive for shadows that crease.

Update: OK, so i couln't wait until tomorrow to try the shadows on. i put on fusion gold with udpp as a base and the damn thing creased within 30 minutes

...they are totally getting returned!!

Someone on LJ just posted a pic of her wearing a Metal X shadow by itself (no base) for about an hour, like from the Mac store to home, and it creased like nothing I've ever seen before!

I hope someone will figure out a good base for it.

i think it would be good for all of you to give these a miss! why buy something you are hardly gonna wear because it creases so much?

get some new eyeshadows! that dont crease

or spend it on other mac stuff

These colors are soooooooooo awesome! This collection has gotten me the most excited all year, I wasn't very impressed with very many collections this year..but this one was probably #1 for me. I went ahead and placed my order and got Plum Electric, Metalblu, 6th sin & LimeDandy glitter liner...and a MiLady..since I missed it the first go 'round.

I think this & Matte2 topped my list of best collections this year..atleast color wise, for me.

Mmmmm I'm excited!!!!

No these are not crease resistant on their own. The only semi-crease resistant eyeshadow I know of is Bobbi Brown's creamshadows..and even still they crease as well. It's all about finding an excellent base..and even using a similar powder shadow underneath these cream shadows..to get them to last longer.

I don't think people should pass these up for the fact their cream shadows. They can easily work, you just have to figure out how they work for you.

I just tried 1 layer of UDPP and 2 layers of Bare Study p/p on top of UDPP, then the Metal-x shadow on top of them and with lil bit of powder shadow over the Metal-x...and it doesn't crease at all throughout 3 hrs...note: my skin is really oily.... You guys should give this way a try to see if it really works for everyone...

i know they would probs work with a base but its just my opinion.. i would rather buy better stuff from other collections than buy something creamy... u can get similar coloured eyeshadows from mac and they last longer! whereas these new metal-x ones look quite sheer and i wouldnt wana buy something that expensive where i could buy the same thing from drugstore
